I think I have a ship!

And that is Chuck/Sarah. I mean, I shipped them by default from the start because I usually am fine with whatever canon ship a show gives me, but I actually became one at the end of ep 4. The scene where he gently asks her to tell him one true thing about her, even a little thing like her middle name, but not really expects it - guuuuuh, meeeeee=dead. I am pretty much a sucker for sweet boys and tough but secretly vulnerable gals.

Have finished first five eps of s1 and have just ordered s2-4 from amazon. Obsession city, it's nice to visit you again!

(I am so behind on every show in existence - whole seasons as far as Sons of Anarchy and Boardwalk Empire are concerned) but new obsession beckons.

Sons of Anarchy S2

I haven't been posting about it, but Mr Mousie and I have continued our watch of Sons of Anarchy and are most of the way through s2. This is such a good show. Definitely going on the list of my faves.

Also, I think something may be dislocated in my brain, but I find Clay very very hot. Hotter than Jax. He's old enough to be my father so that is weird but there it is...

Sons of Anarchy - S1

Mr Mousie and I just finished the first season of SoA (I have to wait for him to have time so it takes a while) and my mind is blown. This is going on the list of my favorite shows. I love the way it's written, the sharp dialogue, the characters (Gemma is still my favorite with Opie, Jax and Clay close seconds but I love every single one, even tertiaries, even though I'd never want to meet any of them - eeek), the iterativeness, the look at consequences and fall-out of schemes and murders and other crimes. The stuff with Donna - totally brutal.

I am very interested to see where this will go. They are setting up quite a conflict between Jax on one side and Clay and Gemma on the other. Any money on Gemma and Clay having actually offed Gemma's first husband a.k.a. Jax's Dad?

Btw, all of you who told me I'd get to like Tara after all, you were right. I really like her by now. I especially love that while she never starts stuff, she never takes any crap either. I do want her to get out of town, dump Jax, and...well, I was going to say find a law-abiding boyfriend, but we saw how well that turned out, so let's say instead...buy a vibrator. Yeah, they love each other and all but dude's a gangster, and we just saw what can happen to a gangster's girl.

This said, when Jax told her "You want to know how many women I slept with over the last ten years? Hundreds. Maybe more. I don't know. I barely see their faces. I married Wendy because I was lonely. Because I got tired of the endless disconnect. It was just a sad time-out. Because when I am inside someone there is only one face I see.", I about died.

On a final note, this drama gets me to ponder things like how on earth I am rooting for a bunch of murdering thugs over law enforcement, how DOES one bribe the entire sherrif's department and whether it's cheating when you have a girlfriend and then sleep with your estranged wife. And if it's cheating, who is being cheated on. Heh.

ETA: Jax and Tara win the creepiest/most dysfunctional first makeout award - on the bed where she just almost got raped and with the corpse of her abusive ex (who Tara plugged in the stomach and then Jax shot in the head) cooling in the corner. With the abuser ex's ipod serenading them. Eeeek!

Sons of Anarchy

We watched eps 2 and 3 today and it's official - I am beyond obsessed. If someone told me I'd be rooting for a bunch of redneck thug criminal bikers, I'd have thought they were insane, but here you are.

My favorite character remains Gemma - she's tougher than all the bikers combined, her leader-of-the-pack husband Clay included. Fierce and awesome and scary as hell. Plus, it's great to see 'older people' be allowed to be sexy (she and Clay getting it on in the photobooth made me giggle so hard. Never thought you could use photobooths for that).

Second favorite character is Clay - he's smart and ruthless and really really good at running his gang. In RL, I'd stay far far away and would want him locked up, but on TV, I love him.

I also love Jax - I mean, it's Charlie Hunnam, but joking aside, I like that he seems to have more heart and doubt than a lot of the others, and also he is good at lateral solutions. Plus that grin.

I actually love every major character - the other bikers (the Elvis Impersonator - LOL, the crazy Irish guy, the one who's trying to get out, the new recruit etc), Wendy-the-Junkie-Jax's-ex-wife (I think she's a waste of a human being but she's entertaining as all get out) and the hotshot cop that's trying to get them.

The one major character I am lukewarm on so far is, ironically, the most conventionally good - Tara the doctor lady, Jax's ex-girlfriend and future flame. I don't dislike her - she seems competent and pretty tough (love her exchanges with Gemma) but I am not particularly interested in her either. Maybe because she's not as colorful and more conventional. But we'll see how it goes.

The one bad thing? I don't want to watch anything else but SoA now.

Sons of Anarchy - bikes, guns, and a scruffy half-nekkid Charlie Hunnam - how can you go wrong?

Thank you, [livejournal.com profile] alexandral. I would have never heard of Sons of Anarchy except for you, but now we (me and Mr Mousie) have watched the pilot and I am obsessively in love.

SoA is an FX show, currently renewed for its fourth season, that follows a California biker gang which operates out of fictional small town of Charming. They run guns, fight with rival gangs, and do other highly illegal activities. At the center of it is the 'ruling family' of the gang - tough and in-control Clay (Ron Perlman), the gang leader; his wife Gemma (Katey Segal), my favorite character so far, probably the scariest person the show, a Lady Macbeth of sorts; and the protagonist, Jax (Charlie Hunnam, getting rid of his British accent and getting all scruffyfied), the VP of the club, Gemma's son and Clay's stepson, and someone who may be doubting the direction the club is headed. This was labeled as loosely based on Hamlet, and set in biker world and while this is not exactly Shakespeare, this is immensely entertaining - fast-paced, with characters who feel real and even sympathetic (as the safe remove of television), and just very very well-done.

Here are Clay and Gemma:

Have a general MV:

Now if you will excuse me, I have a SoA marathon to attend.

ETA: I was looking for vids on youtube, and heeeeeee, I am pleased to see my shippy spidey sense is never wrong! I could tell Jax had a thing for the doctor lady but was wondering if I was seeing things. Apparently not, as this very hot nsfw mv seems to indicate. I didn't know you could show that stuff on non-HBO-type channels. I've been watching kdramas for too long )
