Thoughts on ep 8 of Nice Guy that are not about the sequence I posted about in the morning...

Because yes, I apparently do have more to say.

(Thoughts on some of the sequences here, with caps)

In case we had any doubts Jae Hee is psychotic, she beats herself up, fakes that it's her brother who did it, calls to Maru for help etc. (Also, we learned in this ep she likely had an affair with the Chairman while dating Maru). Oh, and to top it off, she texts Eun Gi about the meeting.

Anybody else thinks she was sitting in deliberate parallel to their first meeting, so as to evoke his feeling more (and what a contrast with when he was fixing Eun Gi - who came with no guile). I do love that finding out that she faked this was the last straw. When he turns that empty gaze on her, the one he used to look at Eun Gi with, and tells her his feelings are over? I cheered. (Also, let's face it, Jae Hee would never go back to him if she wasn't being kicked out and also even if she doesn't want him, she doesn't want anyone else to have him). A pity Eun Gi only overhears the part where he talks about how he used to love Jae Hee. She knew, from the documents, but it's one thing to know in the abstract and another to confront it when it's in your face.

Oh, Maru, don't cry! :(

I loved this because JH asks him if he loves Eun Gi now and he says he regrets dragging Eun Gi in. Yes! Your soul has woken up! I actually love that he replies with a morally right answer, not a romantic one.

He comes home and realizes EG figured out about Jae Hee and him and gets a text from EG that she is on that beach and takes off running! I do love that EG went there by herself. She has so much faith.

She is there by herself and then...he comes. And OMFG, he's decided to come clean, because when she asks, he tells her he wanted to come here with someone he loved way back when but it didn't happen. And that person was Jae Hee.

Maru has clearly come to his senses (and his feelings). I see hope except - that preview! Is freaking me the frell out!

That preview is numero uno reason I've been in the funks. Gawd, his face at the end... The developments in episode 8 are friggin' fantastic. And really showed the character strengths of both Maru and Eun-Gi. For Maru to face Jae-Hee and treat her wounds, knowing they were self-inflicted, finally coming to terms with who she is, finally being able to let go of that young Jae-Hee who tormented him so much, to be able to tell all that so calmly and walk away so cleanly... That's tremendous character strength. But it's that moral integrity that now stands in the way of any future with Eun-Gi. The way he answered JH's question... like you said the morally correct answer, not a romantic one, suggests that he doesn't think he deserves a future with EG, not when the beginnings weren't motivated for the right reasons and he played with her feelings at times. And because EG loves him so much, and sacrificed so much for him, that he's going to push her back even harder, to "make things right" again.

The preview is freaking me out - it looks like EG can't get over the truth that Maru tells her (and I can't blame her, but still...) and is he driving in the wrong lane and thus possibly into oncoming traffic?

I think, if the usual crazy stuff (Jae Hee's manipulative evilness, chairman's death, possible amnesia, God knows what else) would leave them alone, if Maru wouldn't feel able to be with EG due to guilt, she could break through it if she wanted it enough - he is starved for love and she loves him so purely and I think, he could ultimately be convinced that this is good for her.

I love that Jae Hee lost both the Chairman and Maru due to her own flaws and plots. One scheme less, and she might have kept them.

They've been so on the mark with the emotional journeys for these two, I pray that whatever happens next will somehow "make sense". That's just about the only thing that's keeping me from losing it completely, that they're not going to go all makjang with no care for logic and psychological underpinning all of a sudden.

Oh and I forgot to say that I really liked that they didn't make it easy for EG, in the sense that it's one thing to think she doesn't mind his past with JH, quite another to actually confront that reality and the emotional toll it took on Maru. Heartbreaking but necessary. And I'm glad that Maru rushed to her side as soon as he realized she knew and where she was. It was cathartic to watch that... even if it means even more heartbreak and pain for the both of them. And us. *deep sigh*

Yes, I trust the writer, so I will just chew my nails to the wrist and wait.

The preview makes me think that this is how she loses her memory. I think she will end up drifting her car and will hurt her head and forget everything.

But *spoiler*Spolier*

from Koala posted spoiler pictures on her blog and OMG it seems there will have a time jump and it seems Maru and Eun Gi are together....

Ahhhhh can't wait for next episode.

That's what I think, too!

I need the ep asap!

It's very very worrisome

Not only gave Maru a morally correct answer I also guess that he would never tell JH anything about his feelings for Eun Gi, no matter if it's love or care. Not after he knows what JH is capable of.

That is a really good point!

I like this point a lot!
