Absolute Boyfriend kdrama starts casting

As per drama beans.

I sincerely hope it is based on the manga I adore and not the jdrama which I hate. Seeing that they want to cast Kim Ha Neul, it's probably the latter though. Add in the fact that kdrama adaptations of manga usually suck (BOF, *shudder*) and there is no way they will be able to deal with "heroine orders a sexbot" thing on MBC (I was cracking up at jb and gf, neither of whom is familiar with the manga, wondering if It could be a sexbot and deciding not).

I think I will just wait for the twdrama.

So there are real plans for adapting 해를 품은 달? Awesome. Last I heard, it was still an unsubstantiated rumour.

They have a crew, as in, there's now a 'staff cafe' at one of the portals, one of the first signs of productions gearing up. But no news on the casting front, not even rumors, which puzzles the DCgall people, if it's indeed being considered as the follow-up project to Me Too, Flower! on MBC.

ETA. Forgot add the writer & PD behind, um, how does it translate, 'The Moon That Embraced The Sun'? Anyhow they've got the Capital Scandal writer and Royal Family PD on board, hence the high expectations on DCgall.

They're definitely cutting it close if it's going to be following Me Too, Flower!, but I suppose stranger things have happened. So many projects have been really last minute this year. That PD/writer combination sounds amazing though. Capital Scandal. ♥

Regarding the story, you referred to it as a doomed romance, so I take it that it'll veer into much more serious/darker territory than Sungkyunkwan Scandal?

Haven't read the book, and this is just bits & pieces I've heard over time (like you said, the project's been rumored forever), but it sounds more tragic and fantasy-like than SKKS. By the time the young king crosses path with the shaman (on a moon-lit night obviously), he's already had his heart broken when the woman he wished would be chosen as his consort (the sister of his tutor) died of illness. And it's only when he falls himself to some illness that the shaman's introduced to the palace and he meets her again, but she can't come forward so he doesn't realize who she is. (Echoes of The Little Mermaid.) Then there's a number of subplots of his bodyguard in love with the same woman, his elder half-brother who fell for the late not-fiancee, his sister pining after his tutor... and they're all apparently doomed, doomed, doomed.

Doomed romance?

But I just got sparks of news that Park Shi Hoo is being considered as the male lead and that Han Ga In is considering for the female lead. That is so not good. I was assuming that it might be about revenge. The shaman was said to be a princess and her family was executed while she escaped and went to live as a shaman. This is like the news about him being casted in "The Princess' Man" all over again. A doomed love.

Ooooh, I'd love it anyway.
