A Thousand Kisses ep 2 - I have a new obsession of an OTP

After ep 2, it's official. I am in love!

If I had one niggle it's that I need more Woo Jin/Joomi (Ryu Jin/KSE) right NOW!!!! They have ridiculous chemistry and visually are just so appealing together. Their scenes turn me into jelly. Don't be stingy, drama! I like the main OTP just fine but I am obsessed with WJ/JM. And if online fandom is any indicator, I am not the only one - in fact, they seem to be the OTP everyone is obsessed over, not the main one. (Tbh, I think it will be like Gloria with two OTPs, each of which will have enough screen-time to be viewed as main).

He is so repressed, it's insane.

And no wonder, that is one dysfunctional family - as far as I can tell, his father dumped his mother when WJ was a little boy (and Mom then died) to marry his mistress, but it's not as if he ever treated the mistress as a human being either. No wonder WJ is a repressed icicle who never wants to be in love. Also, I am kinda amazed at how someone can be so rigidly polite while somehow projecting a constant 'fuck you' at the same time (to his stepmom).

Anyway, issues and angst and all that, it doesn't matter because he has no chance against Hurricane Joomi. Yup, that's one smitten and determined girl.

Not that I blame her. RAWR!!!

Pretty much, she is exactly what he needs - she is spunky and cheerful and forthright and irrepresible but also nice. (She is my favorite chracter, can you tell?) Plus, she won over Emo Rich Potter Boy, explictly against source manga canon, and after that anything is child's play.

Also, after years of drama-watching, I have a sixth sense for angst, and I can just tell their storyline will be the angsty one. I am not even referring to the 11-yr age difference or the fact that she is not from a 'suitable' family or the fact that he will have to have a crash course in emotions. Nope, the drama is making it pretty clear that Woo Jin's despised stepmom (who I actually like btw) is Joomi's birth mom - she walked out on Joomi and her older sis (the heroine) to marry Woo Jin's Dad. Ahh, kdramas - fakecest is like candy to you, isn't it? For once I actually hope I am wrong about my favorite trope (though I don't think I am) because I want this to be my fluffy safe darling.

Oh well, I shall distract self with height difference!

I just found out Ryu Jin is already married *o*

errmmm where is the problem? knowing that kdramas are as chaste as nuns? Kimura Takuya is married but makes hot and smexy dramas ... I don't remember not shipping his pair because I was thinking at his RL wife.... I shipped them every time... it is a matter of acting... if the guys looks at the girl like she is wallpaper... indeed we have a problem and the production would have a huge problem

I watched him in Baby Faced Beauty and would be a pity to let him stay at home with his wife when he is such a goodness on screen. When it comes about the actors I like to share.... He was beyond adorable as a father ...

only 11 years difference ... I read somewhere (I think db) that the diff is 17 years = 18y would be a significant diff, while 11 years is smth normal to me ( my parents have exactly this age gap - and some of their friends too)

In real life, they are 17 yrs apart. In drama they are 11 yrs apart (he plays a couple yrs younger and she plays a couple yrs older). In the drama they are supposed to be 24/35 respectively (in Korean years, so in Western years they are 23/34). That's normal enough to me - my grandparents had that gap and were happily married for almost 6 decades.

my grandparents had a 14 y gap: he was 33 and she was 19 and from my father's side I think the gap was even bigger than this- they married after WWII and imagine that were just a few guys available

Yes, my grandparents married after ww2. and seeing that it was in Ukraine, it was a miracle my grandma got married - I have a ton of greataunts who died as spinsters or whose husbands died in the war.

I remembered that Kim Nam Gil said in an interview before Bad Guy: it is easier to work with married actresses because the possibility of a scandal is way smaller with them rather with a single actress (however it was easier to Kim Jae Wook to work with Han Ga In and easier to KNG to work with Lee Yo-Won, and to Jung Il Woo in 49 days - he was way younger than her, however nobody objected at their romantic scenes which were executed with perfection )

Han Ga In said in another interview that she only skips her hubby's romantic scenes- she gets jealous, however she cheers his dramas and wants to see him on screen

well here we have the reverse thing: the OTP above look so smexy and fun to watch

I'm sorry,I hurried with conclusions because kdrama fans(not all of course) usually feel that the girls are virgin and fertile (!!!in the same time, just like Greek Goddesses) and the guys supposedly never seen a nekkid woman in their whole lives, not even talking that hardly a kactor won't give up his fans(read CFs,read $$) for his beloved (unknown to the public) gf, however Ryu Jin isn't the only kactor already married with children and acting his butt in every occasion he gets
(as Cha Tae-hyun, Cha Seung Won, Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Kang-Woo, Cha InPyo,Yeon Jeong-Hun etc)

even more than a single guy, a married guy must put some bread on his family table, therefore he will work harder than a youngster without worries and without kids to raise.

It is a pity that married actors don't get the main lead as easy as an unmarried actor, because the reason is that sometimes ppl are aware of his marital status and don't ship his/her OTP

I need subs for this, and I need them fast. I mean, I still watched all the episodes and I am beyond obsessed with the couple, but it would be nice to also know what they are saying.

She is. This drama is about two OTPs as per drama summary. KSE/Ryu Jin and Ji Hyun Woo/KSE's character's older sis.

OMO mousie me too!!! I'm obsessed with this OTP, though I must admit that I've been anticipating this pairing since the time this drama was announced..I have a huge girlcrush on Kim So Eun and do like Ryu Jin and was just going to check the first episode to see how this coupling would feel and was really surprised by their awesome chemistry and have been watching this drama raw just for their scenes ever since..I even considered watching ep 5 raw last night..still conflicted about making a full commitment to the actual show since it looks like typical weekend family fare and the main OTP doesn't interest me much....its funny how Jin Yi Han (KSE's awesome co-star from fine windy day) is also a second lead in a drama airing right now that has an almost identical stroyline as the main OTP here and that is also a weekend drama

Yes, they are amazing. I just watched ep 3 raw and soooo goood.
