The Princess' Man - episode 7
Of all the airing dramas, I love TPM the most, but I am horribly behind because I always want to block huge chunks of uninterrupted time so I can wallow and have no distractions. Which is hard.
I keep adoring Sejo - he is a monster who is using his own daughter's feelings to commit a horrible act of political murder; he is a wannabe usurper; he convinces SY's friend that friend should kill SY as a favor to SY because SY will be miserable with his family dead etc. But he is so ruthless and smart and ice-cold that you just know he will be an incredibly effective king.
Watching SR and SY be happy is pretty terrifying at this stage because you just know what is coming. He wants to marry her even though he thinks she is not an aristocrat; they flirt with fans and are just generally the sweetest, sanest couple ever. If...

I feel horrifically sorry for both Kyung Hee and Jung - of course she lashes out at him - he is the symbol of everything that went wrong, of lack of control in her life (out of all the characters, she is the most constrained). But he is a nice person who tries to do all these sweet things and keeps getting rebuffed and doesn't even get mad. I hope they do work it out eventually because pretty soon, with Sejo's coup, they will only have each other to rely on.

Might be spoilers, don't know where you are right now
Um, re: princess Kyung-hye, she was pretty unhappy... I can't find records of her but apparently her husband died early, sorta at Sejo's hand too. D:

Wait until you see the angst of the next episodes! The ends of episodes 9 and 10 are particularly nerve-wracking. Poor SR and SY. They were so cute and sincere and in love. And they came down to this. I know we'll get at least a couple of happier moments between the two because there are still 12 episodes left but I bet they'll plundge into even more despair afterwards.
I go to the soompi thread often for this drama and not many people believe in a conventional HEA for it so they came up with TPM version of a HEA: that SY and SR both die together. I agree with them. I wouldn't want to see one living on after the other is dead.
I have no idea where the drama is going. The only thing I know for sure is that Sooyang will become king but I'm not quite certain yet. Maybe in episode 14 or 15? Oh, and also that a bunch of people will die, some of them probably pretty soon too.
Speaking of bloodshed...I confess I'm a tiny bit disappointed by the way the writers are developing Sooyang. I was hoping to see a cold, ambitious man with a genius for politics but who could still be conflicted over some issues. I wanted a gray character but feel I'm being given a cartoonish villain instead. I'm not losing hope though, there's still enough time for more development.
I'm translating episode 12 tomorrow so that'll give me an excuse to rewatch the episode when I do the final check to look for typos and mistakes. That'll tidy me over until episode 13 on wednesday.
Gosh!

Btw, I didn't even notice any typos!

And (this is not really a spoiler, don't worry) I got my wish to see Ninja!Seung Yoo...well, sort of. The new haircut and clothes suit him.
Now I'm off to watch the firtt half of episode 13 subbed (watched it raw already yesterday). I recently became a QC at Viki and it's heaven. I can't believe I didn't do it earlier. I highly recommend it by the way. With your Russian skills, you'd totally be able to it easily. It took me about a day of subbing to get qualified and now I have access to all the channels. I'm going to help the French team over at the TPM channel now that I have access.

I asked for the QC status when I had about 820 subtitles (for comparison purposes, an episode of The Princess' Man typically has between 500 and 700 lines of dialogue). The viki 101 page says you should have 500~1000 subtitles so I tried my luck when I got midway between those two numbers. Working in the Scoop channel was kind of fun. I learned all kind of stuff about Korean celebrities.
Being a QC opens a lot of doors. All of Viki is accessible and the subbers work fast. 24 hours after the episode aired, episode 13 of TPM was at 80%. Bliss. I've already started my French translation whereas before, I wouldn't have been able to do that for quite a few days yet.

What kind of ending do you think we're going to get with the drama? I don't really know much about Korean history so I'm not sure how it will all turn out.
