If it makes you cry to dump her, don't dump her! Stop using my nerves as your cello strings, kthnks
So, was sufficiently obsessed curious about the Plot Development of Doom in ep 16 of New Gisaeng to check it out raw and look what we have:

Am madly puzzled right now! Soompiers seem to be just as puzzled as I am as everything points towards (a) Damo is madly in love with Saran (b) he's horrifically miserable to dump her (c) it's not as if he presented her as prospective bride to his parents and they said nope.
So - whaaaaat? Whyyyyy? Why would a seemingly un-insane young man dump his girlfriend without any warning and without any good reason, seeing that he's totally in love with her, their relationship has been progressing swimmingly, and he's completely devastated to let go and that obviously his "well, I dated to get into your pants but you are not letting me into them fast enough so buhbye" excuse is clearly a 100% lie.
Soompiers are saying he's been weird since his trip to Japan. If this was a 1990s melodrama starring Choi Ji Woo, I'd be guessing there is a deadly illness involved, but clearly not the case, so what?
Am so very curious!
Bonus, here is awesome Saran post break-up. She's definitely my favorite character in the drama and one of my fave heroines in general because she's this rarity in kdrama land - she's very contained and reserved and nothing is going to break her in public. Her self-posession and maturity are amazing.

Damo, you are such an idiot to let her go!
P.S. I know I am way behind on replies, I promise to get to them soon.

Though Priyanka Chopra does an excellent job in her Madhuri tribute as well:

(Anonymous) 2011-03-14 01:28 am (UTC)(link)The breakup scene, particularly after she pulls out the cake, is incredibly well acted! Da-mo's face after she tells the waiter to throw it away or whatever, he looks so heartbroken. He has to turn away from her, he can't even look at her let alone look in her eyes, especially after seeing the gift she had brought for him. It killed me!
And Sa-ran's stoic face and poise throughout it all, wow. Just wow. This show is kicking me in the gut with the crazy emotions!

Apparently the grandparents will be falling over dead one by one next week, too? All I can say is... WTF writer, what did you eat wrong over the weekend? I mean, is killing off the biggest supporters of Sa Ran and Da Mo the only thing Im Sung Han could think of to push the plot forward? It's just gone from a relatively laidback, mellow tone to full on tragedy melodrama.

I don't mind emo melo but I liked the laidback vibe of this - it was my oasis of sanity and happiness in otherwise crazed melo world.
Oh well.

Ah well, I can take whatever angst is thrown at me as long as they get an adorable HEA. Tbh I loved watching Da Mo sob like a baby in the baseball cage; I was muttering "SUFFER, you fool, SUFFER!" as I watched it. I hope he kicks himself over and over and goes through a hell of a lot of manpain before Sa Ran takes him back.

Re: Damo in the baseball cage. Yes, that was most satisfying. He deserved it.

It's right by my uni so I'll have to go investigate this for you, but omg! Costumey dramas! What is this even! Outside they have pictures of Goong, Jumong, Dong Yi etc. I'm pretty excited about going.

But I hope Saran becomes a gisaeng soon, I want to se eher in her fancy hanbok and pretty hairstyles.
And Ra Ra is so immature, I'm so tired of her already.

Ra Ra = ugh.

(Anonymous) 2011-03-15 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)Plus, it has been 14 eps, why is Sa Ran not a gisaeng yet? How long this drama will be LoL.
