Hong Gil Dong and The Golden Bride
I can't wait to watch more Hong Gil Dong tonight.
Also, did I mention my incredible squee and glee over Gil Dong/Yi Nok ship? It's so funny, and off-kilter and yet with his huge potential for angst just lurking there, thus it hits all my buttons.
And it looks like in the latter eps it's going to become even more awesome because the whole situation is going to become something I would have dreamt up but would never see in fiction because it's too awesome!
Because finally we are going to dig through to the whole:
1. He is a rebel slave and she is the long-lost daughter of a super-noble family
2. His father (who fathered him on a slave woman and was OK with having this slave woman beaten to death for trying to run away with the child, and kept him as a slave, and was OK with him being killed) killed her birth family
3. Not only that but he killed (horribly) her adopted Grandpa, the only family she knows
4. Before she disappeared as a small child, she was actually betrothed to the hottie rebel Prince who was supposed to be the rightful King, and who loves her, now. And who Gil Dong supports.
So, basically, he is a slave and she is the highest level of aristocrat, their families are sworn enemies, she hates his father like poison, and she is promised in marriage to the future King.
Oh, and at some point, while trying to kill his father, she accidentally wounds him.
YEAH.
I love it.
And here are some pics, from ep 19 and preview to ep 20.
So functional and adorable. He really needs her and she is so happy with him.

She is berserk and he is stabbed by her!

Woobies!

Chang Hwe, what are you doing!!!!!!

In other news, people, how come I was unaware of The Golden Bride before this? Yeah, yeah, it's 50+ episodes but whatever.
How can I resist when we have:

1. Upper left: she is a half-Vietnamese contract bride! Who agrees to get married because she needs the money to search for her father who abandoned her and Mom when she was little. Her Mom is also going blind!
2. Upper right: he suffers from OCD because his girlfriend (lady on bottom right) ditched him! To marry gent on lower-left who is from America. Oooooooh. So because nobody wants him because of DISEASE stigma, he gets a mail-order bride.
Shall they fall in lurve? What do you think?
If that is not enough for you (and if a mail-order bride with a blind mother married to an OCD pining for lost love hottie isn't, I don't know what's wrong with you), we also have:

1. Bottom left. Resident Girlyman. (Every drama has to have one). Member of same family as American, girlfriend-stealing gent in other picture. He falls in lurve with Girl on bottom right. Their families obviously hate each other so that cannot be. Well, actually seeing that it's a drama, yes it can. Yes it must. At one point, I think they "gasp* move in together. Rock on, Girlyman!
Upper half: comic relief couple. He used to like girl on lower left, but she smartly, preferred Girlyman to him. So I suppose being comic relief, he will settle for curly-haired girl. Or not. Not being posessed of either disability or Girlyman hotness, I don't care.
