Everything Under the Sun

First off, a giant WELCOME to everyone who've recently friended me. Don't feel shy about commenting. I love to blab.

Saw Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna for a second time yesterday, with [livejournal.com profile] aliterati. Knowing the story made the viewing experience quite different. I found Rhea and Rishi a lot more at fault and Dev and Maya nicer. Hmmmm.

I just found out that subbed ep 20 of Ouran High School Host Club is out. Yay! I wasn't into 19 as much because Lobelia Girls School=boring, but this one is supposed to be twins' centric, and my twins love is second only to my Tamaki love.

What day of the week is Prison Break on? I really do want to give it a chance.

For those who are interested, subs for ep 5 of Silence (SQUEE!) and ep 9 of Tokyo Juliet (less squee but still squee) are out. I know what I am watching later in the week.

Have any of the dorama fans on my flist seen either Prince Turns Into Frog or Loveaholic? Are either of these worth getting?

Watched more of Devil Beside You. Yeah, DBY is enjoyable mush. YAY. Random observations follow.

But first, I am amused to note that the uni here is the same one used in Mars. Is it the same one used in Meteor Garden and Tokyo Juliet? I am blanking out. If so, do you think I am too old to transfer? Just think of all the drama I'd be able to see around me (not to mention bevies of hot angsty guys with questionable hair). Why didn't I know about that place when I was applying to schools?

I really think that Meng and Xiao Yue have great chemistry and are cute together. I prefer their funny light scenes to the drama ones. It's not that their drama scenes aren't fun: I love those. The bit where he runs in the pouring rain to rescue her from being brained with a pipe and then she jumps in front of the guy he is about to off and he pauses in mid swing, inches away from her body is HOT. It's just they are kinda adorable in the fluffy funny ones, like when he randomly shows up at her house as she is cooking and gives her instructions on how to cook so he'd like it, or the uber cute scene at the end of 5, where he is being all broody and she tells him 'Lots of people like you.' And he asks who and she names two, and he says 'two isn't lots' so she names a few more (a grand total of five, wow! :P) and he says something to the effect of that isn't there someone else even though she's already used all the fingers of one hand to tick off the people. So she pauses for a bit and raises her other hand really high and goes 'I, Xiao Yue, like you most of all!' Which is the cutest and funniest confession ever. And he starts cracking up and tells her he doesn't know anyone who shows his/her liking by sticking the hand in the air. And she gets all annoyed and starts putting her hand down, and then OMG he raises his hand up too and just looks at her and then they hold hands, fingers entwined, with their hands held really high together. And he tells her it makes him really happy and there is hugging. Awwwwww.

Not to mention that amusingness factor went up to 11 because Meng's gang seems into doing fashion make-overs (heeeee) and I nearly choked when the show made explicit Meng's mother issues, as the annoying Goth Girl rival for Meng's love told Meng that even is Xiao Yue will like him back, it won't replace or bring back his mother. UM. Yeah. I hope he doesn't want to make out with Mom. I love the show for proudly waving its freudian slip.

BUT BUT BUT BUT.

Cool as all that is, I confess that my heart in this show does not belong to them. I have been made a slave to the dreaded secondary couple! (Though they seem to be getting equal screentime, so maybe not).

It's Yuan Yi, the guy who XY liked first and who really did have a serious thing for her and Qing Zi, XY's best friend who's always liked YY but didn't want to say anything because she was a good friend. OMG. I love LOVE love LOVE them. Serious, quiet, reserved, nice and angsty boys are my Kryptonite, and QZ is very strong willed and open with her emotions, so it's perfect. All my favorite scenes are actually theirs.

I love the scene after XY tells YY that it was just a crush and they shouldn't go on longer because he will just hate her and she is in love with Meng. And he tells her it's OK, he wasn't so keen on her either (and it doesn't sound mean, it sounds sweet) and walks off. And then he just goes running, in the pouring rain (because it's emo!drama, yay!) and collapses on the ground and then you see QZ walk up to him as he doesn't see her, and she has a red shirt and a red umbrella and she is the only splash of color in the scene and she offers to share her umbrella with him. And then she asks 'or do you want to be in the rain so no one can tell you are crying?' And he tells her to go away because he doesn't want any sympathy. So she replies she didn't come to offer sympathy or to tease him or to comfort him. She just came to tell him something. That she wants to go out with him. And eeee, the look on his face! And he tells her a rainfall won't make him forget XY and why would she want to date someone who is in love with another girl, so she drops her umbrella, walks up to him, kisses him on the cheek and runs off, as he stares after her. And she is running and smiling. LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE.

YY is so very sweet and decent and I think, seeing how the girl he liked ditched him, it's really important that QZ is the one chasing after him.

I also love how a day soon after, she sees him sheltering from the rain in a phone booth, so she thrusts her umbrella at a friend and runs to the booth and he sees she has no umbrella so they both shelter in the booth together. And he tells her he doesn't want to be cruel, but he can't forget XY and so he can't go out with her. And then they have to leave the booth and she tells him she is going to the metro so he takes off his jacket and uses it as an impromptu covering for both of them and he walks her to the metro. AWWWWWW. And he tells her to keep the jacket. LOVE. Serious LOVE. And she starts to walk away and then she turns and comes back and tells him she doesn't expect him to forget XY overnight, but they could create memories of their own together. And then she tells him she'll make a bet with him. If the next passerby will have a red umbrella, he'll go out on a date with her. And he tells her he doesn't want her hurt because the chances of that are so small. And she says any chance is better than none. OMG. And then the next passerby comes by slowly and it's a...green umbrella. And her face falls and she turns to walk away and he goes after her 'I didn't get to my part of the bet. If the next passerby has a red umbrella, we'll go on a date.' And I am DED from the CUTE. And they keep watching and a woman comes by with a giant black umbrella and they both look quietly devastated and then the woman removes the covering to open up the biggest red umbrella you've ever seen. EEEEE! And they are smiling and it's adorable and I LOVE.

And then he is late for the date and he runs to find her but she's left already but then he calls her that he is late and she texts him that next time he is late, she will smack him with that red umbrella. And you see him grin and he asks her out for a date on Sunday. YES! They are SO MY OTP!

Any other recs?

Also, since I have apparently abandoned dignity and became a pathetic Rain fangirl, here's a youtube vid that made me kinda crazy to check out Sang-doo, let's go to school (Yes. The school of ANGST).

I think it's amusing that Rain is the one I went batty about, since actors like Vic Chou, Mike He, Takizawa Hideaki and Wu Zun are prettier. But much as I adore them, it seems Rain it is...
