dangermousie: (Koizora: made by me)
I am beginning to recover from an awful awful stomach bug I picked up somewhere. Eating is still not an activity I want to engage in, but tea tastes nice. Mr. Mousie has been an angel - taking care of Baby Mousie, making me toast (which I can't eat yet. Advice - worst way to lose a few pounds, ever, is to get a stomach bug) and tea.

Luckily for my "I have barely gotten out of bed all day" self, I have Shut Up: Flower Boy Band waiting to entertain me. All about high school wannabe rockers, this is one drama that is ridiculously entertaining, has attitude, and makes me think of a Boy Love manga, only minus the BL as it is a Korean drama (there is a heroine in this, and she's OK, but honestly, they might as well saved themselves the trouble). Have a MV:

Lee Min Ki cameos in this and, I swear, the man has a portrait in the attic somewhere. He got me to thinking who else I'd cast in my own rocker drama. I came up with:

and

Too bad No Win Woo is prepping for Full House 2 instead (have you seen that horrifying hair he's sporting for it?) and Kim Jae Wook is doing his military service.

Also, What's Up has almost finished its run and I can't wait to binge (I put it aside ages ago, because I thought it would be better watched in one go). If Shut Up is Dream High's older brother, who raided their Mom's make-up cabinet to sneak out to raves, What's Up is if Dream High and Glee had a kid, and then that kid cut off all his hair and went in for breaking and entering.

I am pretty much in awe of the inspired insanity of having Dong Joo and Woori pick a dance club as a place of communion of souls. He can't hear (she knows but doesn't let him know she does), she can but is the farthest from a nightclub hopper you can imagine. And yet it's perfect, because due to the noise, his deafness is hidden (nobody can hear anything in that place anyway) and she doesn't have to keep pretending not to know - she can act as if he can't hear (once again, even if he could, he couldn't hear her there). They are no different from anyone else there, then. And they are far away from anyone and anywhere they normally go. I love his awkward vulnerability when she drags him onto the dance floor and he just stands there, because of course he can't follow the music, and I love that he is still willing to go with her anyway. And I love her warmth and her utterly unabashed showing of affection (she never has a problem taking initiative) and how it solves all his insecurities as to whether she prefers Jun Ha to him without them having to say a word. I love how tender they are with each other, underneath their warm teasing, and how open and how it's almost as if he can't believe she is in his arms.

Eight million caps - spoilers through ep 17 )

They are miles different from Yoon Sung and Nana, my other obsessed-over OTP, but I love them every inch as much. They are perfection.

And speaking of Yoon Sung and Nana. Check out this amazing shippy MV:

Apparently Kim Jae Wook just got cast as the other man in Mary Stayed Out All Night, starring Moon Geun Young and Jang Geon Seok.

This does NOT make me happy. In fact, I am now inclined to skip the drama altogether.

How so? Is it because I dislike KJW this much?

I wish.

On the contrary, I adore KJW and my problem with the casting is precisely this. I am barely tolerant of JGS at the best of times and under the best circumstances (he has the subtlety of a brick and his looks and manner are really not my thing). And when you throw in Kim Jae Wook, who not only does funny things to my hormones, but utterly stole the drama from under the veteran cast in Bad Guy, and I have to watch him lose to Jang Geun Seok?

No can do. I didn't buy his not getting the girl in BG, and his competition was my beloved Kim Nam Gil.

Here - I think if I watch this, I would give myself ulcers.

Seriously, just page me when Kim Jae Wook has a leading role. Or at least a better romantic competition than JGS.
