First of all, [livejournal.com profile] abby2507 linked me to this amazing shippy vid and I wanted to share it:

Now, on to the ep...

This was the ep I watched today, in my recently-inspired rewatch of S4.

* I must have mellowed out with the years, because Sikozu doesn't annoy me like she used to. Maybe because I see the smug superiority as a defense/compensation mechanism, or maybe because now that I know the whole story, I rather feel sorry for her.

* Rygel! His comment to Scorpius when everyone is about to die, that he hopes Scorpius "please die first so my last moments can be joyous ones" make me LOL and LOL.

* Chiana may be bad at sustaining romantic relationships (and it never hit me how young she is, really) but her devotion to Moya is one thing in her life that doesn't waver.

* I love D'Argo and John together. I am a sucker for a good bromance, especially considering how far they came.

* "I would put my life in your hands. But not my heart." Oh, how this phrase kills me. Because this is such a clear sign from the always emotionally forthright (to Aeryn) Crichton that he's ready to give up, and that just kills me, because John never ever gives up on them. I was wondering why this - why Aeryn not mentioning to him the baby might not be his - was his particular breaking point, seeing what kind of stuff he took from her and still kept coming back for more, and then it hit me - not only it is a cumulative thing (like the straw that broke the camel's back) but also he has such issues about being a good father. And if you think about it, he learned she's having a baby right when she left him, and spent the next few months on that dying ship fixating on the 'baby baby baby baby' thing. And then she comes back and (he thinks) doesn't even find it important to mention it might not be his (not to mention doesn't seem to have a plan tell him she's pregnant). He says she doesn't trust him, and he may be partially right - she's still healing from Talyn-John and whatever happened to her on her 'vacation' but she is ready to trust and open up to love again (significantly, she came back of her own volition). It just might be John whose trust has broken - he loves her, he will always love her, but I don't think he dares to trust her and open himself up to potentially have that trust thrown back at him and be hurt again. In a way, they both react to loss with shutdown.

Oh, I really think Aeryn wishes she didn't talk to Chiana and tell her the baby parentage which eventually got to John. But Aeryn and John were already fragile from all the old hurts, from the fact that she didn't mention the pregnancy, from the fact that she brought Scorpius on board.
