Husband and I watched the first two episodes of Last Exile. I am very intrigued (if also a tad confused, but pleasantly so). I like Claus and Lavvie which are sort of like a non-Jedi version of Luke of very early SW in many ways. Am interested in meeting Alex, if he is anything like what he looks on the cover (whoa!). If nothing else, the graphics and design are amazing.

Re: Meteor Garden. I am such a dope. I totally rewatched DMS getting beat up by bad guys to save SC scene. For an angst whore like me, this is like crack. And I love that SC and DMS are even fighting in his sickroom :P But it's a friendly kinda fighting and she is crying and freaking out over him "I thought you wouldn't come and save me after all those things I said and yet you still came, idiot" and it's adorable because he tells her not to rub her eyes as she is already ugly enough and they are grinning and I am such a sap. Plus, couple where both parties are virgins? Heh.

Long thoughts on parts 9 and 10, with a spoilery comment on a later part and a most random Bollywood reference )

In other news, I have been thinking of my favorite show of all time, Farscape, and how brilliant the writing was.

Sample:

John Crichton: Furlow, is it always about the money?
Furlow: Is there anything else? I mean, how much sex can you have?
John Crichton: I don't know, I haven't maxed out yet.

More Quotes. Farscape spoilers, of course )

And just because I mentioned it in my Meteor Garden write-up, here is the English translation of the lyrics of Tadap Tadap, the angstiest ever Bollywood song. Translation courtesy of BollyWHAT. When the (male) singer sings this, I just...guuuuuh.

Having given me a body of clay, why did you make my heart with glass? )

I think I’ve fallen for Lei. Yup. Of course, I am still a rabid DMS/SC shipper, which means he is free and available :P

It’s the scene where DMS’ Mom, Queen Bitch (QB for short), calls Lei over and under pretense of concern for his family (and because she did some investigating and knows SC used to like Lei) makes Lei the offer of helping out Lei’s family with business (that might be in trouble), if he agrees to take up with SC again. It’s a pity women don’t have mustaches, because if QB had one, she’d be twirling it constantly. I mean, that is utterly evil not just because this plan would take away the girl her son loves, it would also take away his best friend forever. Ugh. Mmmm, yummy melodrama.

Seeing that I’ve been waxing poetic about Meteor Garden, it made me think of Hana Yori Dango, because after all, MG is a live-action adaptation of the latter. I can’t speak about the manga (I’ve flipped through a few volumes, but that’s the extent of my acquaintance with it), but I do want to talk about the anime.

Yes, I’ve posted excessively about it when I was watching it, but I just want to blab about something I haven’t yet. Character development. Namely, Doumyuoji’s character development (for anyone who’s only been following my MG posts, in MG he is called Dao Ming Si). Why? Because in HYD something happened that almost never happens to me. I might start out liking a character and then end up loving them more or less. But almost never do I start hating a character and end up falling for him, and getting impatient as to when the story will get back to him.

Musings on Doumyouji’s character development. Only general stuff, so no real spoilers. Oh, and I drag in Veronica Mars )

In completely unconnected news, mentioning Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam inspired me to post some gorgeous HDDCS shots. It's a flawed movie (my least favorite of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's four films, but then I adore the other three), but like all SLB movies, it is impossibly beautiful and has moments that I like an emotional punch to the gut. Also, it's kinda appropriate, since I just found out today that the male star of HDDCS, Salman Khan, has just been sentenced to a year in prison for hunting an endangered animal. Hmmm. Pity, he is way too hot.

At the beginning of Tadap Tadap, one of my fave Bolly songs ever:

And in completely random but hot tangent, here is a picture of John Abraham, full of Bollywood hotness, and looking scruffy and beat up, in his latest film:
