Man, for a super hit, Boys Over Flowers really is a nightmare production. But reading this (gotten from hydkorea) makes me seriously love Kim Hyun Joong more than I do already. You go, boy!

news from allkpop:

"The last time we saw Kim Hyun Joong show any emotion on Boys Over Flowers was intense. This time its very personal.

F4 member Kim Hyun Joong has expressed his resentment in the poor behavior of the production company and their lack of sympathy towards the late Jang Ja Yun.

Specifically, Kim Hyun Joong was dumbfounded when he and his fellow actors were told on March 8th there would be an open set during filming on the same day. He and Goo Hye Sun were shocked to see over 100 Japanese tourists already waiting at the filming site. He asked indignantly if any of this made sense as they were still mourning their late colleague. Kim Hyun Joong and fellow cast mates are refusing to start filming with the onlookers, finding the situation unacceptable.

On the 7th, at the Gangnam, Seoul Riviera Hotel, the F4 held a fan meeting hours prior to hearing the death of their cast mate. The actors are calling an open set to be unreasonable and lacking sympathy for the deceased.

The production company is saying that the events had been scheduled for a long time and they had no choice: to cancel a public meeting with the Japanese fans would be outrageous at this time and they are acknowledging the actors stance on the situation. They have expressed it is an awkward situation for everyone. Further they have released a statement they will be watching the situation at hand and will need some time before making a decision as far as continuing production."

Outrageous? I'm torn: I'd think the fans should and would understand, but I can imagine Robert Pattinson/Kristen Stewart/other Twilight actors that were scheduled for a meet would be forced to go in a similar circumstance.

Then again, I don't really care about meeting actors/celebrities.

I think I really misread everything, and the more I think about it, the more annoyed I am that the production company went through with the open filming. I think the fans would have understood.

Apparently they were filming all night then went to the wake the next morning? And I guess that next day was when they had the open filming?

I think so. That production company is pretty awful - they are working everyone to death (car accidents, KHJ fainting on set from exhaustion etc) and now this.

The production people are the outrageous ones. I don't know who schedules when the actors shot, and I understand the show was already delayed once, but: it anything they should have given the cast and crew a couple of days off after the death of Kim Hyun Joong. (If they didn't.) I would also think they would cancel fan meets and public meetings for a couple of weeks too.

From what I have read and understand, the production higher ups of BBFs aren't the most understanding and there is a lot of "rush, rush" with this drama. No wonder people are wreaking cars and passing out on set: the people behind the scenes just seem to care about the show, and not the people involved. For such a popular show, Boys Before Flowers seems to be cursed.

Exactly. Time off, people! Do a special or something. Or just manage your production better - other dramas manage to have more of a buffer.

I agree. The production people are just coming off as very uncaring. A special, a repeat of an episode, something. It's like they don't care about the poor woman and the way her co-workers, friends, and family are feeling.

Seriously - it gives them a bad rep too.

Group Eight always seems a bit unfeeling to me. They're also doing TRoL, and isn't that project "rush, rush" too?

I think so, but a lot less crazy though...

it's almost like BBF is cursed or something...

as for the tourists, i'm sure that if the prodn company offered them alternative arrangements, they would be ok with it, afterall, it's not as if they are some kind of unfeeling monsters and do not understand the tragic events and the delicacy of the situation.

Exactly - just offer it for a different date or something. Group 8 really is something else.

I just started watching the show on Saturday and then heard about this. So sad. :( I can't believe they want to continue so soon.

I can't believe she died. I haven't been watching since ep 6 so I have no clue who she is, but wow. -_-

OK, randomly re-watching the Japanese hana yori dango made me remember that she was Sunny. I sat there going "Oh yeah, Miranda, Ginger, and Sunny. SUNNY! Gosh. @_@"
