She is a plucky North Korean refugee living in China, a scammer and a hard worker by turns, trying to earn enough money to help her family.

He is a surgeon who has a sense of humor, is well-adjusted, and medically treats orphan children out of his own pocket.

Still, I'd tell her to stay the hell away. Girl, he is played by So Ji Sub, he won't stay well-adjusted for long! In fact, I am rather morbidly curious to see what kind of hell they are going to put him through this time. Am still scarred by MISA.

Ooh, you make me want to start watching it now! So Ji Sub playing a well-adjusted character is unimaginable. You're right...poor guy...they are gonna put him thru hell somehow, keke.

He doesn't stay well adjusted for long - I am on ep 3 now and things are about to go bad spectacularly!

So you'd recommend it so far?

Mmmm- oh YES. It gets a bit gruesome on medical parts (I am a big wimp) but other than that - awesome.

I've watched up to episode eight: neither is all that well-adjusted anymore. So Ji Sub likes his characters like (I'm assuming) he likes his coffee: dark and hot. Slowly, that man is losing it and YJ (the girl) is watching, while she sort of loses it too. Co-dependence never looked so sweet (and hot on SJS's part)

I was expecting it - I am watching ep 3 now and things are going to hell very very quick (and the previews at the end of 2 clearly indicated that, as well - most people will become a little less happy after having a gun put to their head in the middle of nowhere at the edge of some grave...) Kinda a pity because he really was so nice and normal before and I feel bad for him. Oh well, it's a SJS drama, what else can I expect? :)

Not only is it a SJS drama, it's a drama that's a kdrama - people are going to angst. I'm BT'ing episode nine now and look forward to seeing more angsty from both. Yup, around episode three things got bad for SJS's character - he's not so nice and normal anymore.

BTW: what do you think of the brother and girlfriend? I like the actor playing the brother (I rooted for his character in Stairway to Heaven), but I have a feeling he's going to play dirty in a couple of episodes. Plus, I hear he also falls for a certain plucky North Korean girl. . .

As for the girlfriend - I can see her being annoying. She already annoys me sometimes.

Oh, and the mom? EVIL.

LOL. One of these days I will get to "We're dating now" which I want to see for no other reason than I've been told it has SJS and Kwon Sang Woo as happy dorks who stay happy dorks throughout. My mind boggles at the prospect.

The brother - he is on the arrogant side and I can see how he can slide into evil eventually but I hope not - I hope he stays an ambivalent character. I am sympathetic to him so far.

he also falls for a certain plucky North Korean girl. . .

Oh no! *cosmic scream of anguish* Why can't he stick with whiny fiancee? (I find her kinda whiny).

The Mom is super evil. Jun Pyo is lucky he only ended up with Madam Kang and not this lady or Jandi's body would be never found.

"We're Dating Now" - the boys are dorky and the girls can be annoying. But - dorks.

The brother, I do feel for him. But, I am worried that he'll be influenced by his mother and his issues with his brother getting what he wanted (the job, the girl). I mean, he has already made some bad calls; but, as of now he has major regrets. I worry. The show isn't called 'Cain and Abel' for nothing.

The fiancee is annoying/whiny, isn't she? It's never good when the secondary girl starts out whiny.

Mom does make Madam Kang look like a nice lady, doesn't she? Dr. Mom is scary.

oh don't worry, She adds to his mal-adjustment. I love it. The characters are so multi-faceted and the plot is twisty complicated. Exciting!!!

It's just such a competently done drama if it makes sense - from acting to writing to editing to ost. I love it.

I am amused that the other two kdramas I am following in addition to BOF (C&A and Princess Jae Myung) have a smaller rating combined than BOF, but I think they are better made. Hmmm...

Yes, korea has been going through a phase of "watching dramas while I curse at it." Ratings don't reflect on the quality of the drama overall.

That description is perfect, "Completely done." It describes the return of Iljimae, doesn't it. Cain and abel was boring in the beginning but now I am excited to find out how all the complicated plots are going to turn out. YEY~! Good drama! Something that is mentally stimulating!

I was so underwhelmed by MISA. I think because it was touted as this huge angst-mobile, I expected more from it but it didn't leave me as depressed, saddened or affected as A Love To Kill left me.

IE for ALTK I was so emotionally affected for 2 days after finishing it. With MISA, it didn't bother me. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't as angsty as I thought it would be.

That said, I'm on rollercoasters with SJS. A phrase my friend and I made to signify that one moment he's hot, the next he's not. Rollercoasters.

MISA was so depressing in its plot, I confess I tuned out the angst by the end as sheer self-preservation (same with ALTK by the end - I agree ALTK is more depressing. I thought Snow Queen was more depressing too).

This said, I have seldom hated a character as much as I did SJS' Mom in MISA (but then I hated the brother too, and I know you liked him).

If nothing else, MISA was worth it for this scene:

OMG that scene had me rolling on my bed cracking up. So so so so much slash. (If you want to see more uncomfortably hilarious slash, I think Hello! Miss had some scenes like these, between the two male cousins) But seriously, why would you offer to scrub another man's back??

The character I hated the most was the father (and I think he's my worst character in all k-drama history). So spineless. URGH.

I might just have to bookmark your link, just to keep with the lol's.
