1. I don't like Lee Adama on Battlestar Galactica. I don't dislike him either. I think he is a fine enough person, but fictionally I find him boring. It's like a switch flipped off in S4. I couldn't care less if he disappeared forever. Also, most of cylons could be nuked and I'd applaud. In case everyone forgets, they did perpetrate the annihilation of most of the humans.

2. Donna in this season of Doctor Who is awesome but if they kill her off at the end, I won't be upset. I have no emotional involvement in the characters this season, beyond 'oooh, Tennant looks pretty when he angsts.'

3. I dislike My Name is Kim Sam Soon. This might be one of the most popular and beloved dramas out there, but I am not just indifferent to it (a la Devil Beside You), I actively dislike it. I don't have any negative feelings carried over towards the male lead because I saw him in a drama I adored first, but since it was the first thing I've seen the female lead in, I am actually reluctant to watch anything else with her.

4. Supernatural brings on the pretty. It brings on nothing else. Nothing wrong with that, but seriously, it's not some sort of TV revelation.

5. I don't like Jane Austen. She is technically brilliant, but there is no genuine emotion or warmth in any of her stories, and permit me not to care about a bunch of well-off, snobbish upper class individuals. Lizzy strikes me as a shallow, self-satisfied woman too fond of making fun of at others' expense, and much too concerned with societal norms. And let's not even get into snobbish Emma or saintly-martyr Elinor. Or Fanny! Persuasion is the only of her novels I genuinely like, though Northanger Abbey is also somewhere in the like category. The rest are well-written and entertaining but entirely empty. Give me the Brontes' emotion or Gaskell or Dickens' awareness of social realities any day.

6. It's not cooler just because it's slash. It's not cooler just because it's het. It's not cooler just because it's gen. Seriously. If the story and characters are interesting, then it's cool. The type of relationships you prefer does not make it inherently superior to other stories.

I am sure there is lots more but that's enough of contrariness for the day...

From conversation with Mr Mousie during dinner:

He: Supernatural. It's that show about two guys who look like lovers but are supposed to be brothers. (Pause) I don't know why this show isn't popular in Korea: it has all this misery and death and two siblings who are much too fond of each other.

Heh. My husband the Wincester.

I have finally started my watch of S2 of Supernatural (yeah, I know, I am light-years behind) and am on ep 2, with the scary evil clowns.

Maybe it's because I haven't seen any SPN in a long time so I've forgotten about it but:

Who was the casting director who thought Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki look like brothers? What are his/her drugs?

Seriously. The only way two young white males could look less alike is if one of them was an albino.

I love SPN and it's cheesy manboy goodness, and I think JA and JP are great in the roles so I like them playing brothers and all, but honestly...it always takes much getting used to, the whole 'they are siblings, really really' deal.

I am finally watching Yamapi's Proposal Daisakusen. When it first aired, I saw first two eps and loved it, but I find it almost impossible to watch airing dramas. So now I am watching it properly, and it is SO INCREDIBLE. While I often prefer kdramas and twdramas to jdramas for various reasons, there is a certain crispness, a nuance to jdramas, the others don't have. Not to mention the pace. And Yamapi? Oh, he can break my heart. And does.

Oh, how much do I love an OTP who are best friends? Thiiiiis much. PD is a Japanese drama about Ken and Rei, who have best friends since they have been small. And Ken has been in love with Rei for years. And it stars at Rei's wedding. To another man. And Ken is given a chance to go back in time and to win her over again.

Here is an awesome awesome PD mv:

I love love love love love LOVE it.

But now am off to 3:10 to Yuma. Oh, and comment of the day goes to Mr. Mousie. We are in a crowded Starbucks and he fishes through my Borders bag to see what I bought and fishes out S2 of Sumernatural, looks at it, grins, and asks, very loudly, 'So, Boytoys?' LOL. I nearly died.

Just in case you want to know the likely content of my LJ in the near future, in addition to Bednaya Nastya, Farscape and Why Why Love, I just bought season 2 of Supernatural, which, with the exception of the first ep, I still haven't seen, so expect a meta storm ;)

Also, next week is the start of two Taiwanese dramas I am really looking forward to: Vic Zhou's Delicious Relationship and Wu Zun's Romantic Princess. So probably rants or raves on those as well.

Ummm, is this person insane? Who would pay $599 for a set of season 2 Supernatural trading cards.

Huh?????

In other news, I have to recommend World of Make Believe, the best Doctor/Rose fic I've read in...ever. Set in S3 but flashbacking to S2, this is just hurty in all the right ways.

"The candle goes out and they are plunged into darkness. He welcomes it, hoping his sight doesn’t adjust too quickly, forcing himself not to blink. She’s burnt inside his eyelids."

Oh baby. This fic made me cry all over again. It's part of 13 vignettes btw.

I love Farscape’’s ‘Out of their Minds.’ Such a funny, cooky episode (and of course, just as always, a cooky happy episode precedes major angst arcs. That’s just how it is.

Thoughts on OOTM )

I also have babbly meta about next ep in my Buffy rewatch. Season 2’s ‘When She Was Bad.’ Actually, I want to talk about WSWB now.

Thoughts on the ep )

And I promise to restart Supernatural. It’s just I am never home during the eps and dl is not something I do unless I have to.
