Because I am a masochist, I watched the ending of Huang Xiaoming's Shanghai Bund (though I am barely a few eps in - I was waiting for it to be completely subed).

Worst wedding ever ever ever )

I am going to go bang my head against the wall now, kthanks. Right after I obsessively marathon this baby. Period mob stories with angst and Huang Xiaoming, who's arguably the most gorgeous man alive? Thank you, drama gods! And Jiang Hu subbers.

Have a MV:

1. I honestly do not get why the King of all of Joseon, who has plenty of advisors and loyal officers decides to use 4 college students to help him locate the all-important document that will change the course of history. I mean - bwah? Yes, even if the document is on premises of the University, how about using his pet advisor/prof? Seriously, he needs to use hormonal kids? I do not get. I also find it pretty off-putting that he desires to use Sun Joon when he knows this will force SJ to go against his own father. Ugh.

2. I don't understand complaints about Sun Joon not being angry on finding out Yoon Hee is a girl, especially when they use Han Kyul's reaction in Coffee Prince as their justification. Leaving aside the not-insignificant difference that HK is an impulsive drama queen and Sun Joon is a very reserved, reasoning, measured person, the situations are entirely different. For one thing, Sun Joon is the one who dragged Yoon Hee into the situation which forces her to hide her gender all the time. Let me make it even clearer - if YH reveals her gender, she and her whole family gets beheaded. Han Kyul did not unintentionally put YEH's character in that situation - this is the modern world and the most that could happen to her is she'd lose her job and she can find another (and in any event, HK wasn't responsible). Also, and this is a huge difference - they start dating and YEH still does not reveal her gender - HK finds from someone else. Sun Joon and Yoon Hee are not dating and she was actually going to tell him the truth as soon as he confessed his feelings (and he didn't find from others about her gender, either). Not to mention relief of 18th century nobleman about him not being gay thus being allowed to have a normal life and nor harm object of his affection either is huge compared to someone dealing with issues through 20th century prism. Anyway, short version. It all made sense to me.

Just an FYI: I am currently watching Chinese Paladin 3, Daemul, Gloria, Giant, SKKS, Joseon X-Files, Soulmate, Nagareboshi, Guilty, That Love Comes, Shanghai Bund. So those are ones I am going t blabbing about.

I was checking my Shanghai Bund downloads, and I swear that this literally was the first scene that popped up.

And then I checked the rest of the ep and OH MY GUUUUH. They are held by some nasty types (no idea why, something to do with the Mob, of course) and just...ooooooooooh.

It's done by my id, I confess )

Have a shippy MV.

I have a nice long LOCH post coming but that will have to wait until the evening

The OTP's first meeting in Shanghai Bund is seriously in the running for one of the most awesome first meetings ever.

Also, whoa, chemistry.

1930s train stations, mobsters, cigarettes, and stares of awesomeness )

I need more. Now!

So GOOD.

Also, if that drama with him and Barbie doesn't happen, I may cry. Or at least pout :D

You know how I was obsessed with Shanghai Bund, or more specifically, getting my hands on it.

Well, due to the amazingness of [livejournal.com profile] vierran45, I have gotten my hands on the subbed first ep.

And it's official: it just might be the prettiest drama I have ever seen.

I haven't gotten much past credits because I was too busy capping like mad: I love the sepia tones and filters and selective colors.

And of course, the gorgeousness of Huang Xiaoming and Sun Li and 1930s outfits.

How could you resist a story about doomed love and the Mob and revenge?

Seriously. If you could, just check out these caps from the credits - I dare you not to want to watch!

Gorgeousness )

I am also watching Boys Over Flowers ep 18 and so far my thoughts are as follows:

1. Why Jandi doesn't go for the utterly amazing, caring, gorgeous, and fun Ji Hoo is a mystery known only to God. Not to mention they are writing them as canon anyway.

2. Woo Bin and Yi Jung = most awesome slash otp ever.

3. At the rate Yi Jung is putting liquor away, he is going to become an alcoholic. An alcoholic who likes to imitate Ghost.

4. Heeee! They even gave Woo Bin random angst. That is how you know it's a kdrama.

5. I need to know who the writer for this is so I can avoid his/her dramas in the future. Anyone who managed to turn the canon nazi hardcore Makino/Dom shipper that I am into someone bored by D/M and shipping the uncanon Rui/Makino is doing it very very wrong.

6. My irritation with BOF is especially strong because filmi-girl and I have been watching Meteor Garden and there the whole OTP, Rui, fiancee etc stuff is handled so infinitely better.

I am sure you've realized by now that my fannish interests tend to be sudden, rabid, and expire very quickly.

So alas, time has come for another fannish obsession to bite the dust - my interest in Boys Over Flowers is completely gone, cold. I will probably finish it on fast-forward just out of completist tendencies but any shred or interest in it is completely gone. Just like that. See, bad inconsistent writing will get you everywhere! It's not even annoyance at it any more (because that would demonstrate emotional involvement) just a boredom with it, with a side of "when is a new episode of ToGetHer coming out?"

So, I am sorry, no more BOF liveblogging - I just don't have enough interest to do it.

Unfortunately what has replaced it is:

a. obsession with the Taiwanese drama ToGetHer, which is quirky and funny and romantic done right. Alas, it's only an ep a week. *bites elbows out of need to watch more*

b. Even more frustratingly, my desire to watch 2007 version of Shanghai Beach which I cannot find with English subs anywhere. Trust me, I looked. Correction - I found first five eps subbed on d-addicts, but it's torrents which I cannot use, and even if I could use torrents, it's a fairly old upload so nobody is seeding. My one hope now is Taiseng. They sub a lot of period dramas and put them on DVDs. Surely 1930s is period, surely? GRAH. I am so desperate I might just watch the frelling thing raw. Told you - I am an extreme obsessive. In my defense, look at the pretty:
