First off, more Legend of Chu and Han goodies:

Mmmm, where are the Peter Ho fangirl flisties hiding?

Posters and embedded trailer )

This is going to be Eddie Peng's haircut for Da Mo Yao?

Even though I feel disloyal to Koala, I could so get on-board this train! The abs don't hurt.

Speaking of good-looking, I am simply agog to watch the upcoming King of Lan Ling, a war epic/love story which apparently is based on a legend about a warrior king so gorgeous he had to wear a mask into battle so as not to distract people (so like Chinese Finnick? :P) It's Ariel Lin's comeback to period cdramas and I love her in them, and it stars my darling Feng Shao Feng as the titular character. RAWR:

Though I confess, much as I adore FSF, I think it's a bit of a stretch to label him an unearthly beauty. I'd say Wallace Huo, who is so gorgeous it's unreal, or Huang Xiao Ming, who's pretty much perfection in human form, would fit the bill much better. And ditto Kevin Cheng, Chen Kun and Hu Ge. Also possibly Nic Tse. But not really FSF, attractive though I find him.

Examples of those gentlemen's beauty )

Finally, Nicky Wu is doing Bride with White Hair. I simply MUST watch that when it's out. Ahh, cdramas, always wonderful.

1. The awesome [livejournal.com profile] mookiehyun linked me to this 'action' teaser for Chu-Han Contention. Ahhhhhh! That is what I think of when I think of Chu-Han Contention, not Ming Dao and Joey Chen making romcom goo-goo eyes at each other as the most uncanon couple in history (no, I am not appalled at the Yong Zheng drama, why do you ask?). But then this is from the people who made Three Kingdoms, so they know their way around filming battles. Also, I didn't realize, but Ruby Lin has been cast as Yu Ji (for those unfamiliar with the story - that means she's Peter Ho's OTP and one of two leading ladies). I am...relieved. She's not my ideal Yu Ji (who would probably be Liu Shi Shi) but she's beautiful, age-appropriate and, while not someone who made me obsessed about her characters, never had me dislike a character of hers either. The only thing is...she's tiny. She will need a stepladder if there are to be any non-horizontal PDAs. LOL. Gives a whole new meaning to the Russian phrase of 'pocket wife.' Good thing I adore height differences.

Oh, and have another pic I found (thanks, spcnet!) of Peter Ho as Xiang Yu, BAMF of Ancient Times :P

2. I have no idea why I am anticipating Xuanyuanjian. It's the same type of drama/by the same people as Chinese Paladin 1, which I hated, and Chinese Paladin 3 (where I watched only for Wallace Huo and Tang Yan and their story). But! I cannot resist Hu Ge. Especially playing a baddie. A baddie with an OTP. Mmmmmm. Call me an eternal optimist. Plus, surely, some newbie dude who plays the hero Lin Geng Xin's hero (yes, BuBuJingXin's 14th Prince is the lead, and opposite Liu Shi Shi. 14/RuoXi shippers rejoice!) simply cannot be as annoying as Hu Ge's protagonist in CP3. Too bad LGX does zip for me (though maybe a little here, because he looks a bit like Eddie Peng in this get-up). But aaaaaaaah, Hu Ge! I am Team Bad Guy on this one.

The official MV sure is pretty and hits every one of my kinks:

I am amused that, once again, Hu Ge and Liu Shi Shi share a drama without being an OTP. WTF, Tangren? They have crazy chemistry. I spent a decent chunk of Chinese Paladin 3 wanting their brother-and-sister characters to tear each other's clothes off against the wall.

In conclusion, you can rule my world any time, Bad Guy!

I think my obsession with the upcoming Chu-Han Contention (楚汉传奇) has reached truly pathetic levels - I am trolling Google images for pics while not being able to read any Chinese. Still, I did find these:

ARGH! Is it 2013 or whatever ridiculous year in the future they are going to air this in, yet?

dangermousie: (Young Warriors of the Yang Clan - Four)
The awesome cdrama crack-dealer [livejournal.com profile] mookiehyun has just posted a few pictures from the upcoming Chu-Han Contention (go check them, she also has character descriptions of sorts) and me, being me, this is the one I glommed onto:

Yes. This is Peter Ho in costume as Xiang Yu, the legendary warrior king who destroyed the Qin.

!!!!!!!!!!

I have a historical crush mad passion for the man, mainly because of the deadly warrior + angsty angsty love story combo involved but also because the previous two times he appeared in dramas Ive seen (as the main character's friend in The Myth and as one of the protagonists of The Story of Han) I was obsessed with his character (hmmm, time to get back to Story of the Han - I loved what I saw. Hu Jun mmmmmm).

And I am a huge Peter Ho fangirl.

So put the two together and you get heaven...

Plus, Peter Ho rocked it out of the park as Lu Bu in this director's previous masterpiece (because it was a masterpiece - the best Chinese drama I've ever seen, and arguably the best drama period) Three Kingdoms. And Xiang Yu is pretty much Lu Bu (at least in the TK 2010 version) with more brains (and apparently more scruff and grime. MMMMMMM).

I need this to be out already! Also, have they cast the ladies yet? I don't know who I want for Lu Zhi, but I desperately want Liu Shi Shi for Consort Yu, even if that is very unlikely to happen. Mainly because I was a mad Four/Lady Doc shipper in Young Warriors and I want a second go-around (unlikely to end up happier than the first, sadly). Plus, she is so very gorgeous, which Consort Yu needs to be.

And I posted this before, but I like being a pusher, so here is the Xiang Yu/Consort Yu MV from The Story of the Han, scored to the theme song from The Myth.

I have no idea why the Liu Bang - Xiang Yu rivalry is the hot thing in c-ent now, but I don't care, I just want to reap the rewards.

Since Men and Legends is on my short list, I checked out the first ep, which I saw ages ago and liked, but it was so long ago that I needed a refresher.

M&L is supposed to be about two young martial artists who try to solve a murder, prevent treason, have OTPs, and go through a wagonload of angst. All in 1920 Shanghai. So basically the usual.

But after ep 1, I maintain that the true legend and mystery of this drama is how come Dylan Kuo and Peter Ho are sporting completely modern hairstyles despite everyone else having period-appropriate hair. I don't think feathering, highlights, or earrings were much used by martial artists in 1920 but what do I know. Below pic doesn't show Peter Ho's hair very well but shows Dylan's perfectly in all its highlighted, conditioned glory:

And while this pic is not from M&L, this is exactly the cut + earring Peter Ho character sports in it. As a martial artist in 1920! ROFL.

I am most amused. You can never ever wreck the idols' hair :P

Tbh, I don't mind. I like this sort of hair a lot better than historically appropriate slicked look and it's about people who can kick through buildings, so how realistic is it anyway?

I won't watch this properly until I finish Warriors and Gong, but after that, here I come! Because snarking aside, I really liked the first ep.

dangermousie: (Three Kingdoms: OTP)

I am about to restart my watch of Three Kingdoms and I realized I had these caps from the last Lu Bu/Diaochan scene before he got captured and executed and I never posted them because the OTP imploded shortly after this and I didn't feel like looking at my caps. Randomly crying at one's laptop is sort of a sign of insanity. Well, I've had a month to chill since then, so here you go.

Pretty angsty caps )

I don't really have any death caps because I was too busy bawling my head while watching to cap and I can't really see myself going back to cap any time soon (I am not that much of a masochist) so there's that.

I just realized something - my two favorite cdrama OTPs are both (a) period secondary OTPs (b) involving fierce but not too-bright warlords (c) who fall in love with their tough wives at first sight (d) and end up in death-suicide which makes me bawl. Three Kingdoms had nothing on The Myth where Xiong Yu/Xiao Yue made me cry so hard I literally had to throw up and lie down. Their death scene remains the most epic, amazing, and awful drama scene I've ever seen. From anywhere.

In other news, the Warlord Mousie Would Most Like to Take Home (and then make sure he doesn't off me or steal things) award goes to:

Yup. My favorite character in 3K is still Cao Cao. I can't stand Liu Bei, who hasn't done anything awful, but I love Cao Cao, who has done plenty of awful things, including killing half my OTP and causing the other half to off herself so as to avoid submitting to dishonor. And I still love the man. Clearly, there is nothing he can do to make me not love him.

Oh, and since I am about to restart 3K, inspect more insane binges and posts. This drama devours my life.

I randomly skimmed the drama version of Butterfly Lovers (which I am not watching. Not even my Peter Ho obsesion can make me watch a 40 ep drama about scholars, especially when it's partially subbed and those partial subs are very Engrishy) and to my total shock, this is BL's idea of a woman successfully cross-dressing as a man:

Did I mention she's also barely 5ft tall, doesn't seem to have bound her breasts and didn't bother lowering her voice? And yet somehow every man in 100mi radius is fooled, including Peter Ho - he is supposed to be a genius scholar but if he can't tell this is a woman, I think he has severe mental and developmental problems.

Not putting on lipstick apparently automatically makes you a man. I've been a man most of my life it seems, horrors!

Ah, so much fail.
