Before I take Baby Mousie out to trick-or-treat.

1. I watched the first two episodes of Man of Honor and liked it. Even though the story is different, I could tell it was made by the Baker King people about two minutes in - the vibe, the narrative structure, the character types. I adored BK so it's a good thing for me, but if you did not, maybe you should stay away. I confess to loving Chun Jung Myung's underdog protagonist better than YSY's underdog protagonist in BK because CJM is a much better actor. Whatever else happens, I want Yeong Gyung to find happiness. Park Min Young is her bright, adorable self - when have I not loved her? They have a lovely chemistry (the scene at the end of ep when they first meet is just amazing). Where it's inferior to BK is the secondary guy. In BK, Ma Jun was probably my favorite character and his dysfunctional relationship with Eugene's character made my top 10 OTPs that year. Here, my main emotion towards the secondary guy/antagonist is a desire for him to jump off a cliff pronto.

2. I tried with Revenge, I really tried. But I think I have room in my heart for only one trashy revenge show and it's Ringer. I will probably get back to the woes of rich people show soon, but I am very underwhelmed.

3. I continue to be obsessed with Once Upon a Time. I enjoyed the peek into Evil Queen's background in this ep, and Emma v. EQ showdown, but show, I need need NEED more Snow White! Luckily, the preview for ep 3 promises me more:

If Prince Charming will be brought out of his coma through the Power of Love (tm), I will officially decide that this is a kdrama in disguise.

Because this MV for Man of Honor has made me doubt my plan to start it tomorrow morning and want to start it tonight, bedtime be damned:

WANT WANT WANT WANT!!!!!

It doesn't hurt that I adore both Park Min Young and Chun Jung Myung (who, I swear, is aging backwards!) and that the makers' previous Baker King was pathologically addictive.

How will I wait until morning?!

I am in week 2 of my drama slump, which is pretty unprecedented for me (I don't remember the last time I went two weeks without a drama). I do have Boku To Star No 99 Nichi first ep with subs - it's a jdrama with Kim Tae Hee as an actress and Nishijima Hidetoshi as her bodyguard. Maybe it will break the drought. I think The Princess' Man has ruined me for all other dramas for a while. I really need to post caps of the last two eps. Hmmm, maybe I really should give Tree with Deep Roots a chance and finally get to Man of Honor.

Meanwhile, I've been watching the second season of Boardwalk Empire with Mr. Mousie (I don't post about it much because I get all the discussion I want with him, but it's my favorite airing show) and checking out the pilot for Revenge - not bad, if possibly a bit too OC-with-vengeance so far to really make me rabid. Also has this:

Mmmm. Kyle, you've grown up nice.

But what I've mainly been doing, was rereading Paullina Simons' WW2 trilogy - The Bronze Horseman, Tatiana and Alexander and The Summer Garden. I think Tatiana and Alexander are my favorite literary OTP of all time, with the exception of Lymond and Philippa from Dunnett's Lymond Chronicles. Those books are so gorgeous and emotional, they make me want to both weep and roll around like a puppy in glee. I mean, see this:

Alexander moved her off him, laid her down, was over her, was pressed into her, crushing her. Anthony was right there, he didn't care, he was trying to inhale her, trying to absorb her into himself. "All this time you were stepping out in front of me, Tatiana," he said. "Now I finally understand. You hid me on Bethel Island for eight months. For two years you hid me and deceived me - to save me. I am such an idiot," he whispered. "Wretch or not, ravaged or not, in a carapace or not, there you still were, stepping out for me, showing the mute mangled stranger your brave and indifferent face."

Her eyes closed, her arms tightened around his neck. "That stranger is my life," she whispered. They crawled away from Anthony, from their only bed, onto a blanket on the floor, barricading themselves behind the table and chairs. "You left our boy to go find me, and this is what you found..." Alexander whispered, on top of her, pushing inside her, searching for peace.

Crying out underneath him, Tatiana clutched his shoulders.

"This is what you brought back from Sachsenhausen." his movement was tense, deep, needful.
Oh God. Now there was comfort. "You thought you were bringing back him, but Tania, you brought back me."

"Shura...you'll have to do..." Her fingers were clamped into his scars.

"In you," said Alexander, lowering his lips to her parted mouth and cleaving their flesh, "are the answers to all things."

All the rivers flowed into the sea and still the sea was not full.

Written for me. Just for me.

So yeah, dramas don't really satisfy after that.

To say I am rabid about these two is an understatement.

Mmmmmm. He's so fucked up and intense and good at killing things and she's so bubbly and sane and sweet (where I am at. Knowing this drama, she won't stay this way for long). Mmmmmm. I totally LOLed at their first meeting, when he was reciting some supremely depressing poem about flowers withering etc and she interrupted and was all 'stop being so emo, they'll grow back next spring.' LOLOLOL In this drama they'd probably be bulldozed forever instead, and then a puppy would be killed on their remains.

Speaking of emo, I honestly don't get the Liancheng/Fuya fangirls. I mean, everyone can ship what they like, but I just don't get it. He plotted to have her father killed and blackmailed her into a relationship. That's not really a basis for undying happiness. Not that being with Qiyou is a bowl of roses, either - the man makes me want to time-travel a platoon of shrinks back to ancient China - but Fuya loves him so there is that. With Liancheng, other than on general principles, she wouldn't care if he expired at her feet.

Well, we'll see. I am not too far in, because I need subs. If there ever were official DVDs with subs, I'd go rabid.

Btw, speaking of trainwrecks, viki picked up Sealed with a Kiss for subing. Yes, the one with Hawick Lau playing our protagonist, a psycho who blackmails the heroine into becoming his mistress by threatening to put her uncle in jail. He is not in love with her or anything - he just wants revenge on her father. I will probably be checking it out of sheer morbid curiosity. Well, morbid curiosity and hoping she stabs him with scissors.

In other drama news, I am sure everyone has heard by now, but What's Up is finally going to air this winter. EEEEEE!

Also, I've been in a bit of a kdrama slump (I am sure you've figured it out) but now subs for first 3 eps of Man of Honor are out and I know what I am doing with my free time.

On a final note, I am still slowly but surely working my way through My Girlfriend is a Gumiho and loving it - the character growth is so organic and gradual and wonderful and Miho/Woong are amazing together.

Is anyone else excited about the upcoming Man of Honor, a.k.a. Glory Jane, which is replacing TPM?

I need something light, I adore both Chun Jung Myung (though I was disappointed in his choice of last few roles) and Park Min Young, and this is by the Baker King people and BK was insanely addictive (Team Ma Jun, for the record, I wonder if it will happen here :P)

So, bring it on!

I'll be honest with you guys - while my list of anticipated cdramas and twdramas is pretty darn long, there are not that many upcoming kdramas I am excited for (Tree with Deep Roots, Padam Padam, Full House 2, Man of Honor and Me Too, Flower are pretty much it). But the list just got a heck of a lot more exciting! MBC is doing a big epic drama for its 50th anniversary, called Light and Shadow and it's going to star Ahn Jae Wook.

OMFG.

OMFG.

Firstly, it sounds like a decades-spanning epic saga I go mad for (in the vein of EoE, Giant, Seoul 1945, etc), but in another, I am obsessed with Ahn Jae Wook, who is a wonderful actor, utter sex on legs, was in two of my favorite 1990s dramas (A Star In My Heart, Goodbye My Love) and doesn't do nearly enough to make me happy nowadays.

If Nam Sang Mi joins him as the female lead, as DB says is rumored, I'd be extra-happy because I adore her. But if not, I don't care. The only two kdrama actresses I refuse to watch in anything are otherwise occupied so neither would be consideration, and the rest are all fine.
