Twdramas were my first drama loves (Mars and Meteor Garden were my first and second drama, respectively) and you never forget your first love, do you?

That is why, much as I might love the slickness of kdrama and the understatedness of jdrama, few things will get me as giddy or emo as a well-done twdrama.

So, after I’ve done my Top Dozen Jdramas and my Top 25 Kdramas, the next logical step is the Top 10 Twdramas/Cdramas, isn’t it? So I did one over a year ago, but have found that I need to majorly revise it.

So here is my updated Top 10 twdrama/cdrama list. Once again, same thing applies: only finished ones (or nearly), as unspoilery as I can make it, blahblahblah.

List, with summaries, reasons, pics, and vids )

In conclusion, yes, Vic Zhou is still my favorite drama actor, all these dramas later.

I am too tired to post much, so instead I bring my favorite MV of one of my favorite drama couples, the OTP of Taiwanese drama, Love Contract:

LC is probably the most uneven drama I've ever seen: parts of it brilliant and parts only made for ff button. I never have any idea whether to rec it or not. It's flawed, sure, but the good parts are sooooo good.

The good parts? Mike He and Ariel Lin, both playing squarely against type as two damaged, not-fitting-in people: he a laconic loner and she an abrasive, scarred acting-out hothead. Their love story (and their interactions in general) are so awesome, so not really twdramaish, so goooood. Not to mention their chemistry is through the roof. I also love some creative filming devises and interesting family dynamics. And on a more shallow note? My fave twdrama kiss is from this drama.

The not so good are all the little sub-stories about their friends. The director clearly thought they were interesting, but they are not. But hey, that is what ff button is for.

And then there is that ending. Warning: I cried more at the end of this drama than any other drama I've seen. I think I went into hysterics. You've been warned.

So, after I’ve done my Top Ten Jdramas and my Top 20 Kdramas, the next logical step is the Top 10 Twdramas/Cdramas, isn’t it?

Only I kept putting it off because I yet haven’t seen some which might very well make it into my Top 10: My Lucky Star (which seems to have been universally loved), Corner with Love, The Outsiders 2 (Chances of that one making into my Top 10? 95%). And I haven’t even gotten to At Dolphin Bay, Lavender, Delicious Relationship etc. It’s like a person who only started reading listing their favorite books.

But I finally got tired of waiting to watch them (am impatient), so here is my Top 10 twdrama/cdrama list. Once again, same thing applies: only finished ones (or nearly), as unspoilery as I can make it, blahblahblah.

Finished Tokyo Juliet ep 12. All I have to say is that I want to stab the bra guy in the eye with a fork.

I checked the cover of my shipped Magic Ring DVD and GLEEEST GLEE THAT EVER GLEED. The English summary on the back is comprehensible! This is usually a good hint the subs will at least make sense (you should see the scary summaries on backs of ISWAK and Goong). YAY. Am a bit closer to angsty angsty Joe Cheng (though if it turns into Love Contract Mark 2, I will scream. I watched LC after DBY because I wanted to see Mike He angst and ended up bawling for hours). Am amused that the front refers to it as 'fetish' serial. I know they mean 'popular' but a girl can dream, no? Mmmm, Joe Cheng and chains. Hmmmm. pics of DVD cover, front and back )

I have also watched more It Started with a Kiss. Ep 14 (the Christmas episode) makes living worthwhile. Honest. You think I am joking?

ISWAK thoughts, spoilers through beginning of 15 )

In rec news, [livejournal.com profile] scottishlass wrote an excellent, NC-17 Mars fic here and [livejournal.com profile] alexandral has the picspam of ISWAK's Hospital Kiss here.

Yes, it's fic. For Tokyo Juliet. Actually it's two short ficlets, and one of them is a x-over with Love Contract (because). It's an unusual format for me, so no idea if any good so concrit welcome.

Title: Top 10 Favorite Things, Compiled (As if. There’s better things to do) by Lin Lai Sui.
Fandom: Tokyo Juliet (spoilers through 5 or 6. Really vague though).

She read somewhere that long earrings make you look more elegant and sophisticated. So she started wearing them. In fourth grade. Hey, she grew into them, all right? )

Title: Saved
A/N: This is a Love Contract/Tokyo Juliet cross-over. Why? No idea. But hey, both Sui and Feng live in Taipei. And they are both played by Ariel Lin. So there.
Spoilers: Through ep 20 of LC and through ep 7/8 of TJ.

Can this possibly get any more surreal? She doesn’t want to find out. )

I was watching episode 20 of Love Contract and crying non-stop. Unpretty, messy bawling. God. Either being miserable or happy and typing stuff up as I go because if I didn't take breaks every few minutes, I'd scream.

Through dint of crazy obsessiveness (and selective fast forwarding), I've managed to watch 19 episodes of Love Contract in two and a half days. One ep left to go.

First off, I really want to make clear that my last night's flailing about the end of ep 19 wasn't because it was badly done or ruined the show or anything. In fact, from a story-telling perspective and from a dramatic perspective, it was totally brilliant. From my 'getting attached to the characters' perspective? I am going to hunt TPTB down. Unless they fix it.
