My current thing for Wallace Huo led me to dig out my eps of Love at First Fight, a cute cdrama set in the early 20th century whose heroine has been brought up as a boy from childhood and nobody, not even her father, knows she's a girl. It helps that she can kick most people's butt. Wallace Huo plays her best friend who's obsessed with marrying rich but, to his horror suddenly finds himself attracted to his best guy friend. You know, the short one who kinda looks girly. I have to say only in drama would would somebody mistake Miriam for a boy. Even with short hair and swagger, she looks 100% feminine. To think otherwise is to be both blind and developmentally challenged.

Have a cute MV:

Anyway, I saw the first couple eps a long time ago, liked it well enough, but thought it was too cracky/fluffy to keep up with it and got sidetracked. We'll see if my new crush will result in me being more obsessed with it this time around :)

And speaking of obsessions, I got to this part of CP3!

OMG. Not as amazing as the scene in Three Kingdoms but a totally awesome second.

Completely on a whim, I just started the cdrama Love at First Fight, starring Miriam Yeung and Wallace Huo.

Well, I have just finished the first ep and I am addicted to the cooky, adorable story.

Our protagonist, Shilang (Miriam) is a young woman with a secret. Her mother, who already gave birth to 9 daughters and was worried her husband would divorce her if she gave birth to one more, passed Shilang off as as a boy on her birth. Shilang grew up as a boy - trained and treated as a boy. The only one who knows the secret is her mother. Shilang looks pretty girly which could get her in trouble on the streets of the turn-of-the-century city she lives in except for her mad martial skills. Nobody wants to mess with Shilang, girly face or not - after all her father has trained her to win over any opponent and to win all the martial arts competitions that come her way. Shilang's best (and childhood) friend is Ya Shou (Wallace) - a poor young man whose one ambition in life is to marry rich so he could live in idleness spending his wife's money. They fight together, rescue each other from scrapes (Shilang helps Ya Shou impress rich girls, Ya Shou helps Shilang to get rid of prospective brides) but there is one problem - Ya Shou has no idea his best friend is a girl - despite the fact that Shilang is falling for him.

On a shallow note, oh my, Wallace Huo is so very pretty.

In other cross-dressing news, [livejournal.com profile] clairiere linked me to the 8 minute trailer for Sungkyunkwan Scandal and I literally made incoherent noises at my screen watching it. It looks as good as a cross between Hana Kimi and Butterfly Lovers (period drama heroine crossdresses as a boy and takes the place of her sickly brother in an elite school to get access to education) ought to be - oh, I am so very in love. And the cast, with which I am barely familiar, all seem to be doing a great job. AHHHHH. WANT!!!!
