I confess to lacking in any significant level of interest in the upcoming period romantic cdrama Da Mo Yao, despite Koala's love for the novel this is based on. It just didn't hook me in any way. But ooooh, I just found this pic of Eddie Peng as the hero:

My interest is officially up! MMMMMMM. Now, if only they keep make-outs between his character and Liu Shi Shi, please.

Yes, am still watching Vigilantes in Masks - I realize it is glacially slow, but I watch it with Mr. Mousie, and coordinating our schedules to watch things together always takes time :)

Anyway, ep 19 was shipper heaven:

Make out and have wuxia babies already!

Also, we are finally getting Li Gexiao's backstory. His wife is kinda high-strung but I can see why someone as righteous as he likes someone so duty-dedicated and straightforward. Whatever - I don't want the flashback to take too long because modern day LGX >>> flashback LGX, even if I do like the latter, plus Sannyang is miles cooler than the dead wife.

Evil dude killed a dog in flashback. A dog! WTF! Not to mention, he keeps wondering why the girl he likes picked someone else - short answer - other guy saved her life repeatedly and is capable on many fronts, fighting included (which is something of a necessity in a violent society) and looks like Wallace Huo. You run away and hide to leave her to die and are as useful as a kitten. Also, you are a psycho who killed a dog!

I need Faith to be here right now. It's giving off a cdrama vibe and there are few things I love as much as a period cdrama...

Also, I found a synopsis for King of Lan Ling with Feng Shao Feng and Ariel Lin. Cut because spoilery. Plus thoughts )

Oh, and when is Patriot Yue Fei coming out? I need it in my life.

I know someone on my flist is a big Eddie Peng fangirl ([livejournal.com profile] calixa, maybe?) and guess what - little Seventh Brother and his adorable chipmunk cheeks from Young Warriors is all grown up and is going to be the male lead in Tangren's upcoming Da Mo Yao, playing sexy sexy super general who gets to romance Liu Shi Shi (ahhh, Tangren incest - he was her brother-in-law in Young Warriors).

Hu Ge is in it playing, yet again, a guy who doesn't get romantically with LSS - at this point it's just pure sadism - spcnet people pointed out it's the eighth (!!!!) time they costarred while not being the OTP. I thought I'd be upset because I wanted to finally see Hu Ge/LSS paired (thought they had all kinds of hot-wrong chemistry as siblings in CP3), but I don't know, maybe I am easy and it was the poster, or maybe I am just remembering how much I adore Eddie, because EEEEEE! SQUEEEEEE!!! Happiness!!!!!

Also, I don't know when Bounty Hunter is coming out, but I want want want! Qing period get-up and cool hair and the usual Yu Zheng shippy angst only this time with a lot of blood and fighting.

I mean, check out this trailer and tell me you don't want it:

Why do I not have any Bu Bu Jing Xin icons? (Ah, cdramas. Overall, much as I enjoy Korean period dramas, nothing does it for me like period cdramas - they fit me ideally in terms of structure, pacing, approach.)

Checking out Huan Zhu Ge Ge, which is harmless dumb fun, made me crave a quality Qing story and, because I have no sense of self-preservation, I am currently selectively Ruoxi/Four-exclusively rewatching BBJX. Next, I shall progress to hitting myself over the head with a hammer for entertainment.

God, this is such a gorgeous, nuanced drama which manages to be both restrained and passionate, romantic and soul-destroying. GUUUUUUUH. It is also the one drama where I keep the raws just for capping.

And guess what, my obsession is your gain, because I bring you caps from this amazing scene in ep 17. (I took close to 500 caps, before I went culling. The less said...)

More more more MOAR!!!! )

It's funny because before the drama aired, I remember blabbering all over that BBJX story sounded boring, the trailers didn't work for me, Nicky Wu was much too old for Liu Shi Shi and looked like a gargoyle in Qing get-up. And then...ahahahaha. So much crow. I loved the story and thought LSS and NW had ridiculous chemistry with a few spare Universes to burn. And, while I still think Qing look is not for Nicky (unlike Kevin Cheng, who proved he's god among men, by performing a miracle and looking drop-dead-gorgeous even with the queue), it simply didn't matter - the sheer force of Four's personality and Nicky's charisma in the role, made my quibbles immaterial.

Speaking of the doomed pair, any rumors of them being paired again? Mainland seems to like to pair successful couples again, and if they do so here, I can pretend this is a happy AU which didn't end up murdering my soul. If that is too much to beg for, I'll settle for LSS with Kevin Cheng, if you are listening, TPTB! (Btw, when is Kevin's Mystery in the Palace coming out? I want!!! Except for Feng Shao Feng, he's the only man I've seen who's managed to remain gorgeous even with the half-bald/queue look).

1. The awesome [livejournal.com profile] mookiehyun linked me to this 'action' teaser for Chu-Han Contention. Ahhhhhh! That is what I think of when I think of Chu-Han Contention, not Ming Dao and Joey Chen making romcom goo-goo eyes at each other as the most uncanon couple in history (no, I am not appalled at the Yong Zheng drama, why do you ask?). But then this is from the people who made Three Kingdoms, so they know their way around filming battles. Also, I didn't realize, but Ruby Lin has been cast as Yu Ji (for those unfamiliar with the story - that means she's Peter Ho's OTP and one of two leading ladies). I am...relieved. She's not my ideal Yu Ji (who would probably be Liu Shi Shi) but she's beautiful, age-appropriate and, while not someone who made me obsessed about her characters, never had me dislike a character of hers either. The only thing is...she's tiny. She will need a stepladder if there are to be any non-horizontal PDAs. LOL. Gives a whole new meaning to the Russian phrase of 'pocket wife.' Good thing I adore height differences.

Oh, and have another pic I found (thanks, spcnet!) of Peter Ho as Xiang Yu, BAMF of Ancient Times :P

2. I have no idea why I am anticipating Xuanyuanjian. It's the same type of drama/by the same people as Chinese Paladin 1, which I hated, and Chinese Paladin 3 (where I watched only for Wallace Huo and Tang Yan and their story). But! I cannot resist Hu Ge. Especially playing a baddie. A baddie with an OTP. Mmmmmm. Call me an eternal optimist. Plus, surely, some newbie dude who plays the hero Lin Geng Xin's hero (yes, BuBuJingXin's 14th Prince is the lead, and opposite Liu Shi Shi. 14/RuoXi shippers rejoice!) simply cannot be as annoying as Hu Ge's protagonist in CP3. Too bad LGX does zip for me (though maybe a little here, because he looks a bit like Eddie Peng in this get-up). But aaaaaaaah, Hu Ge! I am Team Bad Guy on this one.

The official MV sure is pretty and hits every one of my kinks:

I am amused that, once again, Hu Ge and Liu Shi Shi share a drama without being an OTP. WTF, Tangren? They have crazy chemistry. I spent a decent chunk of Chinese Paladin 3 wanting their brother-and-sister characters to tear each other's clothes off against the wall.

In conclusion, you can rule my world any time, Bad Guy!

I am honestly 50/50 as to whether Ruoxi and Eight ended up just doing it right there, in the dirt in the middle of the woods. Hmmm.

Honestly, sometimes I space out and have to go 'wait, what did I miss?' from the sheer gorgeousness of Wallace Huo in Vigilantes in Masks. I think Li Gexiao just might be the most gorgeous drama lead I've ever seen, beating out even Huang Xiaoming as Yang Guo in Return of Condor Heroes.

Seriously, it's unreal. I've only seen him clean-cut before and he was good-looking, of course. But the scruffy version is a whole other level altogether.

Oh, and the OTP continues to be super-awesome.
