Go ahead, smack some sense into him, Su Hyun!

Even with everything that happens in the first 11 episodes of Swallow the Sun, I never realized how light in tone in remained due to the fact that Jung Woo himself remained so well-balanced despite it all. But now he's finally snapped and the drama became, suddenly, much darker. His descent is understandable (there are only so many things you can pile onto somebody before they snap) and dramatically interesting but it makes StS a rather more emotionally wringing watch than before.

I am ready to crawl if you say crawl, and bark if you tell me to bark. )

This delicious dysfunction is to be continued in episode 14...

I loved eps 7 and especially 8 with a ridiculous amount of passion. We have the awesomeness of primary OTP and the secondary OTP and a bit of a bromance plus shiny lights of Las Vegas.

Photobucket

I took almost 600 caps and had to significantly pare them down. yes, me = obsessed.

In ep 4 we go from this:

To this:

Episode 4 was the best so far - the first word that pops to mind when describing Swallow the Sun is solid. The acting is solid, the pace is solid and the writing and character development is rock solid. It's less ambitious then e.g. East of Eden (which tried to cram in politics and revolution and unions in) but unlike EoE it is also not wildly uneven. It's a very good, occasionally dark, twisty story about betrayal and revenge and twisted relationships and redemption.

Oh, and after this episode I want the Mob Boss, his Secretary and Rich Boy to all die die die die die die die die PAINFULLY and HORRIBLY. I was yelling at my screen.

Swallow the Sun ep 4: love, hope, craziness and evil. Just your usual day in kdramaland )

I must reiterate that I watch this drama for its deep take on revenge, ambivalence, and loss and not for the unreal hotness of Ji Sung.

Now that we are clear, let's proceed.

Ep 3 summary in caps. Wherein Rich Boy comes up with the most psychopathic, misguided test of loyalty for our Hero ever. )

(Yes, I know, I owe replies. I promise to get to them asap).

I have watched the first two episodes of Swallow the Sun and the verdict is in: I adore it. I plan to marathon more tomorrow every free moment I get.

We have spectacular production values, complex characters (I am especially in love with the very grey protagonist - he is not above making money through hoodlum activities and he is so desperate to succeed. And then there is the mobster boss to whom he sold his soul), complex love triangle, and a twisty plot.

Eps 1 and 2: more hurt/comfort than you can shake a stick at. Plus make-outs and the hotness of Ji Sung )

Little does he know that his 'golden chance' is going to turn into a nightmare and that it will make him sell his soul.

Coming up in ep 3 - true love, murder, and revenge.

Oh yes and Lee Wan telling Ji Sung to win the heart of a girl for him whichever way he feels like it and bring her to him. The girl? Guess who she will turn out to be? Guess. Guess. Guees.

I am starting Swallow the Sun. Ji Sung, Sung Yuri, and Lee Wan, how could you go wrong? (I started it a long time back, loved it, but could not bear the long wait for subs which are all done now and have been for a while).

You can tell it's by the people who brought you Lobbyist.

1. You won't be seeing any Brilliant Legacy posts from me for a week or so because in a feat of self-denial :P I decided to wait and finish the last 4 eps all at once, once they are fully subbed. I am even *gasp* unspoiled.

2.

If I find Song Seung Heon the sexiest kdrama actor (other contenders were Lee Byung Hun, Jang Hyuk, and Song Il Gook), Hyun Bin is, undisputedly (now that Joo Ji Hoon is out of the running, alas) the most beautiful (runners up are Lee Jun Ki, Bae Yong Joon and Ji Sung). Whoa.

I also have a category for ridiculously charming won by Kang Ji Hwan (with Gong Yoo the runner-up) because I have too much time on my hands and a need to categorize.

3. Speaking of Ji Sung, I was watching and enjoying Swallow the Sun but my interest in it went into OVERDRIVE when I found out that Ji Sung's character becomes a flunkie of this rich unscrupulous family and has to do whatever they say. His latest assignment is to win Sung Yuri for the rich messed-up son of said family who has an unhealthy fixation on the girl. So he has to do it, even though she's the girl he's always been in love with. I LOVE THIS SORT OF THING.

How come nobody on my flist is watching this?

Gorgeous trio )

4. Because we were on the topic of gorgeous, how gorgeous is Seo Do Young in Friend?

Here is proof )

This drama just might have the most gorgeous cast ever.
