I feel like a 15 year old with her first celebrity crush. Hrithik Hrithik Hrithik Hrithik Hrithik. For those of you who've friended me recently and thus don't know about my Bollywood obsession, the 'Hrithik' in question is Hrithik Roshan, a supestar of Indian movie industry known as Bollywood.

Picture of Hrithik behind cut )

And I have just returned from his latest movie, Krrish. And oh boy! The camera fetishizes him, lovingly following his sculpted torso, touseled hair, green eyes etc etc etc and there are few actors out there who deserve to be fetishized as much as he does. Yum. Dressed in black (leather or suits), looking intense, angsty, or showing an unimaginable expanse of white teeth, Hrithik is sex on legs in this movie. Very very long, sexy legs. [livejournal.com profile] aliterati, you will enjoy.

I admit I have to eat humble pie now. I made my dislike of the idea of Krrish quite vocal. Krrish, for those who don't know, is a Bollywood take on a Superhero. Bollywood's first take on a superhero actually. Does it work? Hell yeah. I was dreading this movie: the stills looked tacky, Rakesh Roshan (the director) has made such 'classics' as Koyla, and I hate sequels and this was a sequel to the sweet, delightful (and super-hit) Koi Mil Gaya, which was an amalgamation of "E.T.," "Flowers for Algernon" and a Bolly romance about a handicapped guy given special powers by aliens (yes, aliens. It works). So yeah, my expectations were rock bottom. But the three hours flew by, and I laughed and I gasped and I even sniffled a bit (but then I sniffle easily). It was interesting to see Bollywood take such a Hollywood mainstay as a Superhero movie and make it its own: making it about family, love, revenge. I do agree with someone on Bollywhat that in a way this is really merely an expansion of the traditional Bollywood hero, who woos the girl, avenges his family, and can knock out ten guys singlehanded. But with giving Krrish actual superpowers, it's still a superhero movie.

Is it the best Bollywood movie ever made? No. It's not even the best one I've seen this year (Fanaa wins that hands down). But it's a rip-roaring good time. It's a potboiler, like all of RR movies, but what a fun giddy potboiler it is. It won't convert anyone unfamiliar with Bollywood to being a Bollywood fan, but for those of us who already like Bollywood in all its cheesy, colorful, romantic glory, this is a wonderful flick. I'll even confess to being curious about a *gasp* sequel.

Oh Hrithik, Hrithik, how much do you spoil me? Not only are you gorgeous in that romance-novel-cover way, but you insist in acting in horrible movies that fill me with glee and sporting pleather at the least opportunity. How much better can it get?

Well, I am not sure, since the ante has just been upped with Krrish, Hrithik Roshan's new upcoming movie. It's supposed to be India's first superhero movie (what, have they forgot the atrocious theft remake of Superman?), but the whole enterprise is undermined by Hrithik's poofy hair and the coat he has clearly stolen from Trinity. Well, you might say undermined. I would definitely say enhanced.

This is a movie that will fill me with glee: hot guy, ridiculous get-up, plot that is delicious to mock and outfits even worse? Thank you, Rakesh Roshan, the director of this baby (and the mastermind behind such gems as "Koyla" which must be seen to be believed). May your bizarre attempts to fetishize your son always remain so entertaining.

Fear me, and my radioactive glow or a romance novel cover of doom:

Plenty of other equally to die for pictures behind the cut )

Am quite sure about what I'll be doing for part of the weekend, as I have just recieved a lovely Nehaflix package containing Rang De Basanti, Humko Tumko Pyaar Hai and Lamhe. Why is it wonderful? Thoughts on movies in question )

Oh, and just like [livejournal.com profile] fivil, I am psychotically (well, I don't know about her being psychotic but I am) excited about Fanaa, the upcoming (in May), YRF movie starring *deep breaths, deep breaths, don't faint, [livejournal.com profile] drangermousie* Aamir Khan and Kajol. Together. As lovers. Hold me.

Why am I so excited?

Giddy Babbling )

First Look and Plot Summary from RS )

A few caps/anims from TB. Not very good quality. But hey, for this obsessive, it's still better than nothing )

Oh, and I saw the trailer for Krrish. ROFL. So bad, such a tacky Matrix rip-off, though Hrithik looks hot in a long black coat he stole not from Neo but from Trinity. Ah, Rakesh Roshan, you continue to make super-pulpy, super-trashy, super-fun movies.

The still below is Hrithik Roshan in the upcoming Bollywood movie Krissh.

Guuuh, the hotness is back. Thank you, TPTB.

Why he is wearing cloth strips on his torso I do not presume to guess.
