KINGONE GOT THE GIRL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

YES.

Ahhhh, happiness.

(Well, not Vic Zhou's girl because that would be trippy and against the law of nature, and he didn't want that girl anyway, but a girl of his own).

I APPROVE.

Once I finish The Devil, WYSYA it is.

I am in the small minority of people who do not care for Devil Beside You, because the main couple irritate me, but, but, but...

I adore the Secondary OTP with a mad passion. They are my fave secondary OTP and if the drama was about them, I'd love DBY a heck of a lot.

It doesn't hurt that Yuan Yi ia played by Kingone, who is incredibly hot as always.

So, yeah, basically my OTP for the drama are Yuan Yi and Qing Zi. For those who have never seen DBY, Yuan Yi is a very straight-arrow, quietly serious basketball team captain, and at the beginning of the drama, the heroine has a crush on him. She ends up preferring the badboy hero (why???? I have never gotten it, ever!) and Yuan Yi, who liked her back, is devastated.

Qing Zi is the pushy, spunky best friend of the heroine (who, unlike the Heroine, is not a walk-over drip). She has always liked Yuan Yi but was never going to say anything, but now...she is going to try to win him over.

I was a goner for that ship from the moment she went running looking for him in the rain to find him possibly crying (Heroine just dumped him) and told him she liked him, kissed him on the cheek and ran away. Awwww. And they end up being just such an awesome, common-sense couple (they always talk out their misunderstandings), with some wonderfully crazy romantic stuff (I mean, she asks him to tell her just the ends of the fairytales and he keeps doing one story after another, until she falls asleep? And he rescues her from a date rapist? And he has to duel her kendo champion father for the right to keep her with him in Taiwan? SQUEE).

Anyway, I could ramble about them forever, so better stop, and here is the MV.

So.

I started twdrama Wish to See You Again.

Half an ep in, and I am in giddy, gleeful love.

It is so quirky. I know it's a weird word to use for a drama (or for anything that isn't either a New Yorker cartoon or a quilt sold at a flea market), but it is.

So tongue-in-cheek and rather clever.

In some ways, it is more of a jdrama than a twdrama, at least so far.

Maybe it's because for the first half of the episode, all the 'action' centers around our protagonist's writer's block, and his increasingly neurotic attempts to deal with it.

I don't know what I love more: Is it the sight of our protagonist, Xu Le (Vic Zhou), hair uncombed, face unshaven, and increasingly manic in his nightmarishly messy hotel room, try to come up with the plot for his new novel, but instead ending up with the tripest imaginable scenes (which are totally like parodies of many a twdrama). Or is it his more and more outlandish attempts to fight his writer's block, at one point going as far as considering whether an electric shock would help. Or fixating on an apple his friend gave him as a potential source of inspiration. LOL.

It's just I think I so have been there, so tired any rational thought is impossible but that tiredness making you even more neurotic and not letting you either go to bed or do what you should.

Heeee.

Plus, the dialogue is so snappy.

It just struck me as so...awesome.

I finished Why Why Love in a total crying/grinning blur. Such angst (did they really need to compensate for the fact that it was relatively light until late in? This is a story with exchange coupons, racing, and college, not Vic Zhou's Silence, thank you very much) but ending on such sweetness.

Huo Da/Jia Di are such scarily awesome OTP.

The one thing I loved that even in the middle of the typically melodramatic drama cliche of 'break her heart and push her away to save her,' it felt really somehow real: the friends' anger and confusion, Xiao Di somehow characteristically plucky even in heart hear-break, and Huo Da is just so young and desperate.

My scene was Spoiler for the scene in ep 14 )

Anyway, picspam of awesomeness of ep 13 and first half of 15.

One good thing about jet lag (I went to bed at 6:30pm, probably for the first time since I was four years old)? I get up equally early. I was up before 6am, thus giving me plenty of time to watch Why Why Love ep 11. Which I duly finished and SQUEEEEEE!

Seriously, this is INCREDIBLE. It's that weirdly rare drama where it getsbetter with each single episode. It doesn't start to drag in the middle, it does not yoyo in quality between eps it...it...it.

This is going in my Top Dozen dramas ever. (In case you want to know the others: Mars (tw), The Outsiders (tw), Pride (jp), My Girl (kr), A Love to Kill (kr), Goong (kr), Meteor Garden (tw), Tree of Heaven (kr), Kurosagi (jp), Delightful Girl Chun-Hyang (kr), It Started with a Kiss (tw), Snow Queen (kr), Foribidden Love (jp). And Hanadan 1/2 (jp) (though this would make it 15, whatever). But they fluctuate between these in various order from month to month).

Thoughts on ep 11 )

A few pics from the ep )

And then I peeked at ep 14 and oh no. ANGST CENRTAL. When did my fluffy adorableness of a drama became angst central? NOOOOO. I only saw a couple of minutes but they tore my heart out and did a tap dance on the remains. Huo Da and Jia Di are not allowed to be sad. It is WRONG. WRONG. If I didn't know this has a happy end, I'd be throwing things.

Few promo stills I found from the ep )

To cheer self up, here are a couple general Mike/Rainie/Kingone pics promo/set:

P.S. Kingone's song for this is so stuck on repeat in my player :)

ETA: My next drama? Nodame Cantabile. Solely due to [livejournal.com profile] janlake83's awesome post.
