Lookie what I found.

Someone on a Russian drama comm did an awesome long post on Jerry Yan and Ella and their supposed affair/infatuation/whatever during filming of Down with Love (apparently more on his side than hers). It's truly awesome and fun reading.

For those of you who do not read Russian (which is probably the majority), the embedded youtube video clips are probably worth a look-in no matter what :)

I mean, I don't normally have much interest in celeb stuff but that was an awesome awesome read/watch.

I am so behind on twdrama Starlit that I am almost tempted just to wait until it's done and watch it then. But then I checked out the latest ep (18) and saw this:

Did I mention this?

A few more caps )

I have no idea what is going on, but sold, sold, sold.

Just don't go all Beautiful Life on me, drama!

However, seeing that the drama summary itself dscribes their luuuurve as having no future, chances of it avoiding the Beautiful Life path are slim.

is my favorite scene from Meteor Garden. I love everything about it, everything, from Shan Cai's complete fearlessness and disdain to DMS' utter willingness to be horribly hurt to protect her (which is even a bigger deal seeing his impulse control problems).

MMMMM.

I promise to reply to everyone asap :)

I am only ten minutes in into Starlit, Jerry Yan's new drama, and I know I am going to love it. Taiwanese dramas are my first love and when done right (as this promises to be) can be more delightful than anything else. I prefer the more serious ones to the OTT comedy ones and luckily this is the former, as it's all about tragic angsty love between a guy who can't continue with his career as a pianist due to injury (Jerry Yan) and a reporter who may or may not have a terminal illness (Terri Kwan).

So far we have had:

* pretty cinematography
* Jerry Yan looking YUMMY and angsting gorgeously (Jerry Yan is an OK actor but few actors look as scrumptuous angsting)
* Credit sequence with shippiness and kissing. Proper kissing, not touch-lips-together variety that kdramas and jdramas are fond of.
* Classical music
* Hero saving heroine's life
* Finding out heroine might have a terminal illness (or at least something that will make her a cripple)
* Did I mention Jerry Yan looking yummy and angsting gorgeously?

One thing: so far the heroine rather irritated me. Let's see: when a guy saves you from being run over by a car (an eventuality which would not have occurred if you did not stand leisurely taking phots in the middle of the road!!!) and ends up seriously injured, enough that he has to be operated on, you don't just leave him because OMG your plane to Beijing goes in a couple of hours. WTF???? Yeah, you left your cell and an apology note and told his friend where he was. Great. Not enough in any way. Seriously? Has she been brought up by wolves? You stick around to make sure he is OK and apologize profusely in person. Duh! But Terri Kwan is so darn lovable, I am not TOO annoyed. :)

I've been feeling pretty ill for the last three days so here are things to cheer self up:

1. I really like this promo still from K-Hanadan. Looks like a fashion ad:

(Side note: I see people being super-invested in this version's Soujiro/Yuki and I don't get it. Never shipped them, except in the Taiwanese version where Ken Chu and Rainie Yang's chemistry just forced me. So it's weird to see the hyperventilation).

2. Anil Kapoor, you, Sir, are adorable! Just watch this acceptance of SAG Best Cast award. It's odd, when I first got into Bollywood, I didn't care for him at all, but the more I see of him, the more I like him - he was a great leading man and now is an awesome character actor (unlike some Bolly stalwarts who play heroes long after they should be playing the hero's father). And his excitement is so fun to watch!

3. (stolen from [livejournal.com profile] timescout)

Jerry Yan has a new drama coming out, Starlit, which sounds just my thing!

He plays a pianist who loses his ability to perform after getting into an accident trying to save a girl (played by Terri Kwan) who he later falls in love with. Mmmmm....angst. Jerry Yan is an OK actor, not the world's master, but he has an unparalleled ability to look gorgeous while angsting.

Viikii has first ep up with subs.

This morning continues pretty good: the sky is shinily blue, I am wearing my favorite sweater/skirt combo (corded, form-fitting turtleneck of black-gray-pale pink and down to the ground a-line skirt, dark brown with a few thick, roughly patterned black/gray/pale pink stripes). Plus my favorite black boots, and I got complimented on my looks this morning by metro guys :D

I think I am now in that point in my drama cycle, where I madly crave jdrama (just as a few months ago I was in kdrama cycle, and before that twdrama). So a lot of this are rambles about potential candidates.

Anyway. Since this is long, varied, and rather rambly, I am going to cut, to spare the flist.

Various, relating to Japanese entertainment )

And now, about manga )

I am still working on replies to the replies to the friendslist love meme post (OK, that was convoluted :P)

How could anyone not like Why Why Love, the fluffy, delicious Taiwanese concoction? Seriously.

If you are yet not convinced, just check out this MV:

Seriously, I defy you to not die of the cute.

Also, what is with evil parents in dramaland? I sorta want to murder Mike He's character's father, only take out the 'sorta.' His two sons are in an accident (by being speed-racing demons, very mature :D) and he asks about his eldest's condition (the awesome Kingone) and when the girl who is telling him starts to tell him about the injuries of his youngest, his response? 'Him, I don't need to know.'

*stab*

But then generally I find myself mildly perplexed by dramaworld rules. :P I just gotten my hands on The Hospital, last year's Jerry Yan drama. Now, I know of Jerry Yan in three dramas: Meteor Garden (and the sequel), Love Scar (a short, three ep drama I haven't watched yet because I don't speak Chinese and there aren't subs) and now The Hospital.

In all three he plays a guy ditched by a girl, temporarily or not. OK, how does this work? He is 6'+ of pure gorgeousness. In realworld, he'd have to beat girls off with a stick, but in drama world he is apparently a girl-less wonder :D I know he looks good angsting, but come on :) The only reason he didn't get girl-angst in Meteor Rain was because it was pre-Shan Cai and he has 'property of Shan-Cai' tattooed on his forehead. Plus, they were busy giving him cute mute moppet angst.

In other news, Love Storm is being subbed.

I have just watched the first ep.

You have no idea how giddy it makes me.

It stars Vic Zhou, who is my favorite drama actor ever. I will basically watch a paint-peeling commercial if he is in it. Add Ken Chu (another F4 boy. *swoons for Xi Men* Though I guess they are called JVKV now. Ehhh, I prefer 'F4') and a fluffy romance with bits of angst and a happy ending? And kissing? I am set.

Don't misunderstand me, it's not a forgotten masterpiece. But it's a bit of silly, passing-the-time-pleasantly drama :)

Some vids )

And here are reasons to watch:

Reason 1: The LOLz. Seriously. Just look at this without your eyes bleeding. This is the heroine's bedroom :)

Most worthy reasons )

Oh, and because I don't like neglecting kdramas. I've decided Lee Jun Ki should star in every drama, because then subs come out super fast. There are subs for all of four eps of Time between Dog and Wolf already.

Check out what happens in ep 4:
