dangermousie: (Mars kiss by scottishlass)
Love it or hate it, Boys Over Flowers (Korea) is ending, and East of Eden (Korea) just ended too. And Starlit (Taiwan) and Return of Iljimae (Korea) (both of which I am majorly behind in) are more than halfway through.

So, which dramas which catch my attention in the spring season? This is a list of what I will probably blabbing about (disclaimer: sometimes I get excited about an upcoming drama and don't like it (Japanese Hana Kimi) or don't even watch it (Cain and Abel). And sometimes a drama comes out of nowhere and grabs me like mad (Return of Iljimae)).

Anyway, what is the list?

(There is no pics from it yet, so have a Hanadan pic instead)

Smile: One of my most anticipated spring dramas, this starts on April 17th and stars one of dangermousie's biggest favorites Matsumoto Jun (Domyouji!!!!) and Aragaki Yui (who I am liking in My Boss My Hero). Plus, it's a romantic drama with a totally delicious ott plot: Bito is a half-Filipino whose father has died and mother has disappeared. Despite his misfortune and the issues he deals with, such as race, he lives his life positively with a constant smile. Similarly, Hana is a young woman living cheerfully despite losing her ability to speak due to an accident. But what gets me more excited than anything else is that it's the same screenwriter as the one for Hana Yori Dango 1/2 and Utahime, three of my all time favorite jdramas - all three are in Top 10. EEEEE!

Two upcoming Fujiki Naohito dramas, one about an unscrupulous (potentially criminal) beautician, Yako no Kaidan, which starts in April, and another a mystery/comedy called Ikemen Sobaya Tantei which starts April 4th. Because I adore Fujiki Naohito.

KOREA

Princess Ja Myung Go: airing every Monday and Tuesday, PJMG has already aired one episode. Which I watched and fell madly in love. A period drama about patriotism, power, betrayal and forbidden love, PJMG looks out of this world! It stars Jung Ryo Won, Park Min Young, and Jung Kyung Ho. The story starts near the end and unravels backwards: the proud kingdom of Nakrang has fallen, because its princess Ra Hee fell in love with enemy prince Hodong who used her and got her to betray her kingdom to him. But what really happened and how? And who is the mysterious Princess Ja Myung, Ra Hee's sister, the hope of the rebels...and Hodong's real love. Seriously, I watched the first ep and there are no words for how in love I am with this drama.

Lots of caps and meta, actually )

Cinderella Man: a bit of fluffy silliness never hurts, especially when it also has the hottie Kwon Sang Woo in a double role: as a poor street vendor and (what else) a rich executive. I bet hijunks will ensue.

TAIWAN

To Get Her: Four eps are out already - it airs once a week on Sunday. Starring huge dangermousie favorites Jiro Wang and Rainie Yang, this quirky, funny, and romantic tale of a manga-obsessed otaku and a washed out former idol is on track for becoming one of my all-time favorites. To read more about it, see my To Get Her tag..

Black and White: the most anticipated drama on this list, B&W starts April 11th. It stars my all-time favorite drama actor (and one of the most gorgeous men I've ever seen) Vic Zhou. Also stars Marc Chao, Ivy Chen, and Kingone. It's a twisty dark tale of corruption, underworld, and false identities, centered around two very very different cops. I dare you to watch the English-subbed trailer long version or short version (here you can also watch English subbed clips) and not want to see this ASAP.

A lot of caps from the trailer )
