So let's get straight to it.

This livejournal is not a board. It's not even a blog. What it is, is a personal LJ reflecting personal biases and for me to have a conversation with a like-minded bunch of people. But ultimately, it's my space.

Yes, I have biases. Most people do. I don't mind anyone having a different opinion and discussing it with me - for example if I make a post about how Worlds Within is the greatest Korean drama of all time, I am not going to go ballistic if a commenter posts complaining about WW as pretentious crap.

However, if the same someone keeps doing it in every post on a particular topic I make - well, I am making a housekeeping rule - not allowed.

I mean, a post or two is fine - you've made your point, enough. To keep bringing your dislike of drama/actor/actress X in every post even tangentially related to drama/actor/actress X and complain about it being sucky/ugly/bad, it gets tiresome. I get it, you don't like X - no need to repeat it. This is where this being an LJ comes in - it's a personal LJ and thus different in format and purpose than an all-comers board or even a blog where usually a free-for-all reigns in comments. This is a personal, idyosyncratic space for me and my on-line "friends" (I allow anon commenting because I met plenty of cool people that way, some of whom got LJs and became "friends", but ultimately the bulk of conversations on my lj comes from the friendlist where we have known each other a while).

For someone who needs a concrete example of what I ask for. Most flisties know I did not care for You're Beautiful when majority of my friendslist loved it to bits. If flister X posted a gushy post about YAB, I may comment and say it's not my thing and complain about various things, but if they then make a series of 10 gushy posts on YAB in a row, it would never occur to me to comment to most of them complaining about YAB suckage. Vive le difference!

Think about it - if you come into someone's house and see they decorated it with vintage 1920s posters - would you really go from poster to poster commenting how tacky each looks? Isn't it going to piss off your host?

Same thing.

To sum up - I love all my commenters, be they part of my friendslist, random ljers, bloggers with open id, or anon (well, I don't love spambots trying to sell me viagra but you can't love everyone). I have no problem with dissenting opinions (I have people on my flist who do not like Mawang! Or Mars! Or Hu Ge! Though the latter will be found and exterminated by my secret army). I don't mind people posting a dissenting opinion on any gushy/topic post of mine. Just please do not post a "I do not like/x sucks" type post repeatedly any time topic X comes up - once or at most twice is enough, I am quick on the uptake and get it, I promise you. Clearly I like X, otherwise I would not be gushing about it/him/her. And it gets dispiriting to come to my personal net space and discover repeated complaints about X - not what I want in what is ultimately my LJ. I mean, if you have a burning hate for X, go ahead, I am all for it - rant in your own LJ all you want, start an "X is the worst drama/actor/actress ever" club etc. But instead of repeatedly complaining in fangirling posts of mine, do what I do when friends repeatedly post gushy posts about something/someone I dislike/am indifferent to - just pass by.

Thank you for reading.
