This LJ will return to its regularly-scheduled drama programming shortly. But not yet.

Because Homeland.

!!!!!!

Are there any comms?

I haven't been this obsessed with an American show since I discovered Sons of Anarchy last year. (I am not sure why I am so into violent shows about very screwed up people, but there it is).

SO GOOD!!!

I am so invested and intrigued and confused and I love it! I love how all the lines are blurred (by now I don't hate Carrie btw, just view her as very damaged, just like every character in this).

SO GOOD!!!!

I need more flisties to watch it so I can talk about it with people.

Have a general Homeland MV (focusing on Carrie and Brody).

Hmmm, this has clips from some eps I haven't seen yet and there is Carrie/Brody kissing? !!!!! ????? If that is anything on-going, I think the crown for the most dysfunctional couple in TV history has been claimed. Between the two of them, they could keep a hospital full of therapists at work for a century and put them together and this will multiply a hundred-fold. Also, I know Carrie is loose on rules and procedures, but surely even she should realize it might not be a done thing to make out with the guy you are investigating for terrorism.

I wonder if it says something disturbing about me that the only character on this show I sympathize with is the maybe-terrorist. Or maybe it is because the agents make me want to kill things. Because I cannot say this often enough, but what the representatives of 'law and order' are doing on this show is so very illegal it sets my teeth on edge (no, this is NOT the way to get a warrant!). I half-want Brody to be a terrorist, and his first act to blow the agency up.

Also, I think everyone on this one could use a decade of therapy each. But every agent should only get it after a decade in jail.

Also also, by now I find Carrie an interesting character (and she's clearly not a well person) but I still think she's an appalling human being. Also brought up by robots. I confess I almost LOLed when she was all "the dude spent all day curled up in a corner. It can't be because he has PTSD, it must be a part of some evil terrorist plan." I mean, what plan? Communing with the walls which would psychically transmit messages to the bomb makers? Practicing his x-ray vision to steal government data? Secretly indicating his solidarity with the fearsome Walls Are White terrorist group? What? I have no idea if the man is a terrorist (more inclined to yes on that one, actually, if I had to pick) but I have yet to figure how sitting in a corner can be any evidence of the same.

ETA: Watched ep 3 and all I have to say is that the sex scenes in this show are enough to put one off sex for life. THERAPY!!!!!!!! SEEK IT!!!!!

So, I just watched the pilot and loved it. It's intense and messed up and Damien Lewis is knocking it out of the park (is he making a career of playing soldiers?). My heart both breaks for him (the man is horrifically and understandably messed up) and yet I feel scared/on edge (is he a terrorist? I would still find him sympathetic if so because if he was turned it was only after years and years of horrific torture). My favorite character so far is probably Morena Baccarin's army wife who has built a new life for herself assuming her husband is dead (and I cannot blame her - it has been 8 years, even if the romantic in me is kicking in the corner) and now has to deal with the fact that he's back.

I ship it like crazy even though it's never going to work.

My one problem?

I loathe the protagonist, i.e. Claire Danes' character. I don't mean she's boring or mildly irritating. No, every time she is on screen I get rageful and want to go scrub her off my screen. Nobody is going to convince me that wiring and videotaping a person's entire house, without a warrant and against explicit orders is moral. Or that watching someone's entire life without their knowledge (including their most intimate moments!) is anything less than disgusting. She is a sick sick woman and ugh...what does it say that I like potential terrorist more than her? At least he's had the excuse of torture for being a human failure. What's hers? UGHHHH. Maybe there is a reason even your CIA boss (who is presumably not burdened with human rights concerns) thinks you are a psycho, lady! There is a reason one needs a warrant before surveillance, with good proof as to why you need it, proof that convinces a neutral third party, i.e. a judge. UGHHHHHHH.

Also, probable obsessive ship.

Yes, I have reverted to being six years old and am shipping Snow White/Prince Charming. Rabidly. I have no shame.

Anyway, I just finished the pilot of Once Upon a Time and loved loved loved it to bits (yes, even the omniscient kid didn't annoy me). It's just the right amounts of cheesy and intriguing and twisty and with all these characters I cannot wait to see develop. I like Emma, the protagonist, a lot, but I confess being more interested (so far) in the fairy-tale transplants - the Evil Queen, Snow White, Prince Charming, Rumpelstiltskin (OMG Robert Carlyle OMG!), the Sheriff (anyone taking bets on the Sheriff being the Big Bad Wolf?).

It's a ridiculous amount of fun. And so very pretty. The time-bending stuff is going to give me splitting headaches as it will get more complicated but I know I am going to love it.

A bunch of caps, a lot (but not all) Snow White/Prince Charming-centric )

So yeah, v.v.v. in love. Even if it is sort of a rip-off of Fables.

Have an ep 2 preview:

I hope the ratings are good! I need this to stick around. I enjoy Ringer, but I am rabid about this one. (Haven't yet gotten to Revenge, Pan Am or Homeland, my other potentials of the season).
