So, I was watching Haven, enjoying it but not particularly shipping or anything and then this happened:

She is the sole thing he can feel in the world!

1. My Kindle went to its maker last night. I turned it on, and a bunch of lines showed up all over. This is exactly how my old Kindle died, but it was fine since by that point I had it for years and it was literally held together with duct tape. This Kindle I only had for a few months. Thankfully, Amazon has been awesome and I am getting a free replacement early next week. Meanwhile, I have put a Kindle app on my iPad because I am like an addict with crack - need my fix.

2. Speaking of books, I have just finished Daisy Godwin's The American Heiress. I think I could sum it up as "what if Consuelo Vanderbilt married someone who was not an utter loser." The story centers around Cora Cash, the richest heiress of the Gilded Age. Her ambitious, steely mother would like nothing more than for her daughter to marry into the upper echelons of the English nobility and takes her over to England for that reason. Luckily for that plan, Cora falls in love with the impoverished but very blue-blooded Ivo, ninth Duke of Wareham. Happy ending, right? Not really - their worlds are very different and Cora often feels like a fish out of water. More importantly, her new surroundings are shrouded in mysteries and secrets, some of which are huge enough to destroy her marriage.

It's a very good novel - I loved the period detail, the leisurely pace that is nonetheless not dull, and characters themselves - neither Cora nor Ivo nor any of the others peopling the book are flawless but they are all understandable and more or less sympathetic.

3. Chuck - eeee! I watched the ep with the truth serum and the bit where Chuck asked Sarah as to whether she saw them having a future and she said no and his face and then it turned out she's been trained to lie under truth serum. My heart! It really shows her feelings though because if she felt nothing, she'd have no problem leading him on. But she doesn't want to admit she feels for him even to herself. Also, aaawwww at Ellie and Awesome having a functional relationship.

4. I tried History of the Salaryman and it's smart and funny but I don't think I can do black comedy for 20 eps. A movie, sure. A series, nope.

5. Everyone loves Wild Romance but I remain cautious because except for Lee Dong Wook, I don't like anyone in the cast and the promos seem so OTT.

6. Cuidado con el Angel continues to be excellent and deliiiish.

7. I just finished ep 7 of Haven and I am beginning to see where the threesome fans are coming from :P

Apparently people write Chuck/Morgan slash. I need to go and hide now. (I have nothing against slash, but the thought of anyone of any gender getting hot and heavy with Morgan is...eeeeeeek. Do not want!)

Also, Haven fandom seems to be obsessed with threesomes. I suppose that's one way to resolve shipping dilemmas...

So, mystery of the week wasn't that interesting but I want to know what The Troubles are, what do they cause, what brings them on (and what brought them back) and do they turn people into 'freaks' the way they did with Nathan?

Also, my Audrey/Nathan shipping continues unabated...

This post is pretty much an excuse for some pilot caps of Audrey/Nathan...

Side note - what he has is a real condition through a scifi/fantasy lens. In real world, inability to feel pain = not inability to feel anything at all; and the very unlucky people who have this condition, die young because they can't tell they break something or have something else that needs to be tended to.

So, basically, my viewing plan is as follows - I am going to finish my Farscape rewatch, then watch Haven and watch Chuck with Mr. Mousie...

Oh, and the story of the week was totally a romance novel :P Cuuuute.

Haven is a syfy show about Audrey, an FBI agent investigating all sorts of paranormal happenings in a town in Haven, Maine. I am about five minutes into the pilot and am screaming and squeeing like a mad mad thing. Why?

Because:

Yup, that's Audrey with Nathan, the sheriff of Haven. Their first meeting is when they snark, then he pulls her out of a car before said car careens off the cliff, they snark some more, and then they pull guns on each other.

They are the OTP.

SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD!

Not to mention, this is the one where he's incapable of feeling any physical sensation except her touch. OMFG this is pretty much the most awesome concept ever. Nasty critters and violence are a bonus but screw it, let's be honest - I am in it for the shippy ship ship!

(Not to mention, whoever the actor for Nathan is, really hits all of my 'this is what a guy I find attractive looks like' buttons, being all rough-around-the-edges, masculine and lean-looking. Mmmmmmm).

Have a MV:

I think I am far from the only ravening fangirl for them, if the amount of shippy vids on youtube is any indication. Mmmmm.

I am checking out the pilot on amazon insant videos ($1.99 per ep, v.v.v. reasonable) but I am buying the DVDs tomorrow. Heeeeeee.

1. Chuck. Sometimes I like light and cooky, and seeing clips and vids on youtube made me think I may like it.

2. Warehouse 13. Mr. Mousie is a fan and I like scifi...

3. Fringe. I was sold by parallel universes. Also, apparently there is shippiness, if the mv below is any indication.

4. Haven. I am most excited by this one! First off, Mr. Mousie loves it, and since we are both fans of Firefly and Farscape and Buffy and Dr Who and a billion other things, we have similar tastes. Plus, I was digging around on youtube, and it triggered my memory that this is a show where one of the characters is a guy who cannot feel a single thing except - the only thing he can feel is heroine's touch. Sold. Have a MV for them...

I am skipping Lost Girl, because it seems to me to be a bit too Laurel K. Hamilton for my tastes.

Oh, and apparently the first season of First Wave is on DVD! Guess who just bought it? I used to love that show 10+ yrs ago - nothing like hot people fighting an alien conspiracy while being hunted by the government. Plus, mmmm, Sebastian Spence.

On a final note, I realized I never watched Babylon 5. The horror! Not only is it Mr. Mousie's all-time favorite show, it's a scifi classic. Luckily, I just bought the entire series on DVD for Mr. Mousie for Valentine's Day, so I know what we are watching in February :)

Oh, and just finished Farscape 4.08, I Shrink, Therefore I Am. It's not an ep for which I have a lot of meta, but I do like the Crichton has to take almost constant hits of the drug to be able to function clear-headedly and not get overwhelmed with 'Aeryn is in danger Aeryn Aeryn Aeryn!' And I love how the show mocks technobabble. Plus, Rygel being unselfish and Crichton snarking on Scorpy are always great.
