GLAY remains one of the extremely rare exceptions to my absorbing lack of interest in Japanese music of any stripe (I think early exposure to scary Johnnys Entertainment/Jimucho, whatever one of the two is the correct way to refer to them, scarred me for life*). It helps that they are actually what I think of when I think of a band: i.e. a group of people who had common tastes in music and joined together to play instruments and sing, writing their own stuff, not the odd thing that I find JE or SuperJunior or whatnot, where they hire pretty people and train them to do stuff.

I am so addicted to the above song it's not funny.

*It's my not-so-well-kept secret that even though I like some of the guys in Johnnys as actors (Kimura, Yamapi, Matsujun, Takki), I always feel 'relieved' if I am watching a drama with a non-Johnny's person in the role(s) because the concept of Johnny's freaks me out.

I watched the Indian movie Life in a...Metro (also known simply as 'Metro') in the theater today.

It's about the lives of about ten or so people intersecting in Mumbai and I loved every bit of it and will meta about it later but am soon to go to bed so that will have to wait (I will mention that driving back blazing Glay was very fun ;))

And I've restarted my watch of kdrama Green Rose (am on ep 11) and even though it is not primarily a romance drama (it's about a falsely accused man who is believed to be dead but comes back powerful, three years later, to clear his name and find out who framed him and why and avenge himself), the OTP of this one keeeeeels me dead, what with him having to pretend to be someone else to her even as it kills him and her half pretending to believe him and half believing him and the coded conversations where they really can't say what they want and the way they devour each other with their eyes and she is the only thing that can bring him to his knees (figuratively and literally).

So awesome.

Go Soo is also BLOODY HOT all broody in black and Lee Da Hae is so beautiful, but that is by the by.

OMG.

I have finally discovered a Japanese band I actually might like. Scratch that. I am a fangirl goner now probably, knowing my enthusiasm bug.

Glay.

The mangaka of Sensual Phrase seemed to be a huge fan, so I was curious and went to youtube and searched for them and OMG. You know, I am going to go through her side notes now and look at which bands she mentioned and check them out.

I actually like. I like the music (NOT the case with JE), and most importantly, unlike the JE set up, it does not give me the creeps. Here is a wiki article on them.

Since this is a normal band, it's a normal 'they formed the band themselves' thing. And they seem to have lives outside of the 'job' that aren't psychotically controlled (also like a normal band. Though I wonder if Japanese groupies are different from American ones. Probably not :P). None of them got started with a prepackaged band when really creepily young and asked to do some totally age inappropriate stuff on stage (I have HUGE issues with JE. I don't care if someone wants to act like a fake slut in a concert at 16, but it has to be their own choice and initiative).

An none of them are borderline jailbait. They are all comfortably older than me.

But the best part? And the only really important one? I really like the music. MMM. I am going to go CD hunting this lunch break and then look for DVDs on line.

Oh God. Now I like Japanese music. See my weirdness go further out of control.
