Probably because I spent all of the week watching Gloria, I found myself with a massive craving for Korean food yesterday. Luckily, there is a Korean restaurant I love within walking distance of Mr. Mousie's office. So in the evening, Baby Mousie and I met Mr Mousie and the Mousie family went out for dinner. This is what we got:

It was shared and enjoyed by all, especially by Baby Mousie, who did her best to drum with chopsticks and take all the spicy bits (she loves spicy bits).

Because I am a bit hungry and because they are so pretty, I bring you pictures of yummy, super-pretty, and super-delicious Japanese food.

When I booked us into a ryokan in Kyoto, I signed up for their dinner and breakfast service because I thought it would save time and because I thought it sounded interesting to try traditional cuisine, and it would be the easiest way for someone like me or Mr. Mousie, neither of whom is capable of navigating a menu in Japanese.

That was one of the best food decisions I ever made :P

Behind the cut are incredibly awesome pictures from our first dinner in the ryokan )

Breakfast food as a bonus :P )

I have reached new highs (or lows, depending on your perspective): I am watching My Name is Kim Sam Soon on TV and Mike and Hebe's Bull-Fighting on laptop, simultaneously.

What next?

Heh.

Ep 5 of KSS is so awesome. There is some angst AND funniness. But I so want to tell Hyun Bin to have a meal or dozen. I am glad to note he's filled out between this and (the awesome, what are you doing not watching it) Snow Queen.

I am also ratger interested that Hyun Bin's and his ex relationship is sort of like the one of the secondary OTP in Coffee Prince only in CP they work it out while of course in KSS HB ends up with Sam Soon. I found CP very very unusual in that regard: where a girl walks out (and for less good reasons than the ex in KSS) and comes back a few years later, wanting to fix the relationship and the story is about how bumpy it is, and how hard it is for her to win the guy's trust (she still has his heart) again and how they work at it, as opposed to she left, and now it's too late and the story is about the guy learning to love another. (I am comparing it to KSS and not My Girl, btw, because both women in the former are lovely, but the My Girl ex is horrific).

Btw, Bull-fighting's credits are sooooo pretty.

P.S.: I need to finish Why Why Love so much. It's just I can't bear the angst, even a little, for the OTP.

Also, I think I completely lost it, foodwise. This weekend, Mr. Mousie and I went to this huge Korean grocery store, which was awesome. I didn't buy the very fresh and cheap fish, because I am a lazy cook (I know how to filet them and all, but don't want to bother) and I didn't get any kimchi because I don't like kimchi (they had half an aile devoted to different kinds, so maybe I should try again!!!!) but I think I bought out the rest of the store, including some really yummy drinks, 17 varieties of steamed buns, gazillion dumplings (I'll try making dumpling soup), fishcake, three varieties of tofu (smoked, steamed etc) two whole large smoked eels (my fave food ever) and a huge tin of masago. Not to mention a billion varieties of noodles and much too much dessert, and insant version of miso soup. We've been eating at home yummily all week :)

1. I have new shoes. Bought at Nine West. They have huge heels, are light brown, laquered, open toed, and GORGEOUS. My excuse? I realized I have no brown shoes at all. Not that many shoes, period, mainly boots and sandals. Time to shoe-shop! My shoes are a cross between this shoe (only it has a strap across) and this shoe (that's the kind of strap they have) (only of course they are light brown in color, not light pink or pastel). I keep randomly staring at my feet. The heels are at least 3.5 inches and the best thing is, they are the exact shade as my coat. eeeee!

2. [livejournal.com profile] alexandral posted an awesome Hyun Bin (Korean actor) picspam here.

3. This evening, [livejournal.com profile] klmorgan and I are having a Fushigi Yuugi marathon. Tamahomeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

4. Yesterday, when I stopped by CVS, they had my favorite ice-cream (half the time they are out): Haagen-Datz's vanilla with chocolate covered almonds. It's safely stashed in the fridge now, but I can still hear its siren song.

5. Wallflower manga OWNS me and Kyohei is my newest fictional crush. He is violently awesome (or is it 'awesomely violent'). I love the bit in volume 2 where the guys get kidnapped by a murderess (but a real lady, as they are quick to point out, LOL) ghost who's taken posession of Sunako and so she chains them all up in basement, dresses them in s&m-y attire, to have her wicked way with them and kill them (yes, it's official, the mangaka LOVES s&m. Half her face panels feature Kyohei behind bars or in cuffs). But Kyohei burns his way through the ropes and then decides that the best way to get Sunako to kick the ghost out and retake posession of her body is to kiss her. Because she'll flip so much. And he is right! Heeeeee. And he ends up carrying her (wrapped in a blanket) the steep way out of the basement, which is AWESOME. And then the guys (who seem permanently strapped for cash) decide that the gear the ghost put them in would totally sell well and complain about the clothes and Kyohei is all 'I am the one who looks like a freak, in all these chains' ROFL. I really hope if Sunako and Kyohei ever really hook up, they never have any kids, because OMG, scary parents. And I have volumes and volumes to go!

6. Green Rose also owns me. Ep 4, with the desperation, and the angst, and hotness? YES.

7. First ep of Hana Yori Dango 2 aired earlier today in Japan and the torrent will be up soon and I read spoilers and *glee*

8. There is a person in Malaysia I could hug right now. Just before I left the house this morning, a FedEx person showed up. Inside the package? Even though I ordered less than a week ago? My delicious, shiny, shrink-wrapped DVDs of Tatta Hitotsu No Koi (Just One Love) which I unwrapped and checked, and yes indeed, they have shiny Chinese, Malay and perfect English (!!!!!) subtitles. (Oddly, the pic quality, while fine enough, is not as crisp as my dls, but I don't care). OMG. Bye, weekend!

9. Brunch on Sunday. I missed having brunch in this cool Belgian place and that is where I'll be heading. Or maybe this little place that does (among other things) oatmeal souffles (to die for). Or a Swedish place with some amazing salmon dishes. I love brunch and we haven't gone out to one for a while. But we will this time.

10. Jasper Fforde's Jack Spratt Nursery Crime books. Just discovered, instantly beloved...

YES.

[livejournal.com profile] catdecember, oh [livejournal.com profile] catdecember, guess what I tried? Inspired by this mv which looked interesting (aka cute guys and angst), I tried Goong. For all of you who are not [livejournal.com profile] catdecember, Goong is a very melodramatic romantic drama about a girl betrothed to a Prince blah blah blah. Knowing how Korean movies usually end, I am a bit paranoid about the end but we'll see. I am actually interested in watching more specifically Korean stuff as my exposure to the cultural products of Korea is very limited (three movies and a manhwa and a few fairy tales are about it).

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] koalathebear, when I was in Chicago, I tried pockys and they are the best thing ever (especially the strawberry ones). Now I need to figure out where I can get them here.

And I've watched ep 16 of Ouran and woe is me. I now like Hikaru with Haruhi too. Eeee.

Btw, sorry to everyone of flist who friended me because of BSG or Veronica Mars or Bollywood and is now seeing a stream of Asian entertainment (whether anime or jdorama) related stuff. I go through phases and this one will subside to a more normal average pretty soon. Promise.
