So, I read detailed spoilers/summary for the ending of Dollhouse.

I have only one thing to say: BWAHAHAHAHAHHAAAAAA.

Though I am glad for Victor and Sierra. They were the only worthwhile thing in this whole repellent mess.

I haven't watched Dollouse yet. Boo. Will hulu it. Isn't Jamie Bamber supposed to be on it? YAY!

In other news, I am sure you've seen my drama slump lately. I am, however, out of it - no airing drama rescued me but I restarted my interrupted watch of Lee Da Hae and Jang Hyuk's Robbers yesterday after it having been nowhere near my laptop or dvd player for months (I liked what I saw earlier but got sidetracked). I am now through ep 8 and I love it to bits. While the story itself is well-done, that is not what really makes me rabid - LDH as an unworldly, sweet widow with a small child and Jang Hyuk as a gigolo-conman who desperately wants to be a new person are the real obsession grounds for me. They both act very well but also - their chemistry is ridiculous. The scene where he was whispering into her ear in ep 7 (??I think it was 7) - I thought I was going to combust. And then the kiss he pulls her into. AHHHOMG.

When is Chuno coming out argh now want it now. Though even if Jang Hyuk and LDH won't end together in Chuno, I won't carp because I still can't believe Robbers gave us a happy(ish) ending.

And Da Hae's drama daughter is so adorable!

Speaking of Chuno, a poster for it is out:

Larger and without text )

I cannot wait.

In having its protagonists be people at the margins of society, it's making me think of Damo and even Hong Gil Dong - and I loved Damo and HGD with ridiculous love.

Ahahahahaaaa. I was looking for something else but came across this instead.

It's Morena Baccarin (who played Inara) revealing that Inara's secret (which was hinted at during the show) is Cut for a spoiler that never happened )

To be fair, I always thought Mal himself was doomed. Doomed doomed doomed with a capital D. I was pretty sure that if the trilogy did materialize he would have bought it at the end of the last one.

Actually, my little Firefly re-binge made me think of *alas* Dollhouse and how in a way it's an extension of a particular idea in Firefly, even if Dollhouse is mediocre at best and morally repugnant and Firefly was neither. I think the idea of a dollhouse is a sort of extension of River's backstory. Think about it - a creepy corporation which takes people and messes with their minds turning them into whatever necessary. And a man obssessed with getting one of the women out.

EXCEPT. EXCEPT. In Firefly, that sub-story starts when Simon rescues River and they go on the run. The show never asks us to feel bad for people torturing River because *gasp* they might feel lonesome sometimes or occasionally crack a joke. It portrays that organization as soulessly evil and what they did to River unconscionable (not to mention it does not shirk from the fact that the effect of brain-messing damaged her almost irretrievably) -it's not all about the evil corporation, it's about people who escaped from it. Oh, and everything that Simon does for River is not creepy because he is her brother - he is fixated on rescuing her not because she is a fantasy of some sort, a woman he's never met or even seen, and who he is attracted to but because she is someone he grew up with, a sibling. Oh, and also the people in Firefly can be damn heroic and selfless and there isn't a single heroic individual on Dollhouse - they are either brain-washed manequins or evil whoremasters...

Apparently Dollhouse has been renewed.

I am so very amused.

I don't think it's a good show, but it keeps me entertained (even if it is to mock it) which is more than a lot of much better shows have managed to do.

ETA: I am so tempted to add Brilliant Legacy (also known as Glorious Inheritance and other variations) to my already unmanageable watching list of currently airing dramas. Not only is the female lead Han Hyo Joo who I fell in love with in Spring Waltz, but apparently it's my favorite trope of icy bastard and spunky girl who won't let him get away with his crap.

I mean. She punches him out.

Teaser:

Plus, it's a total Cinderella story complete with a wicked stepmom only Cinderella has gumption and the Prince is Not So Charming.

I have been DYING to see the new Star Trek movie.

Unfortunately, while you can do a lot of things with an infant: go for walks, go to bookstores, take her to restaurants and museums, go shopping for ice-cream, or even take a pretty drive, you cannot go to the movies.

*sad*

Normally, Mr. Mousie and I would then go separately and watch it in turn but we won't have to do that as we are going on a mini trip Memorial Day with the baby being minded for us by my incredibly awesome parents, so we are watching it together then. I reiterated it to Spouse repeatedly :)

I used to really like the show back when I was much younger and it was in reruns. Mmmm, Kirk.

I realize I have also not posted anything about Dollhouse season finale. That's because it was ywanworthy, even down to them going the most conventional, boring route with Alpha.

1. The baby is with the in-laws for a few days (long story) and the missing her is an almost physical ache. I heard her on the phone today and it made something in my chest relax, as if I could breathe again.

2. Watched the latest Dollhouse ep. Total love! spoilers )

3. Apparently highly anticipated (by me) upcoming twdrama Summer of Bubbles with Barbie Hsu (my fave actress!!!), Peter Ho, and Huang Xiaoming has started filming. I am disappointed to find out however that either the initial reports were wrong or the guys switched roles at some point and Peter Ho is the one who plays the icy damaged rich guy who ends up with Barbie and HXM is her quasi-foster-brother who becomes a star and her long-term boyfriend who tries to kill himself. Boooo! I am sure Peter Ho is all lovely and all but I have never particularly swooned for him in anything I've seen him in and I have an unreasonable amount of lust love for Huang Xiaoming, who is surely one of the most gorgeous men I have ever seen. Why any lady would leave the latter for the former is beyond me. But let's hope Peter Ho manages to impress me and sweep me off my feet. I mean, would I leave this for Peter Ho?

Only if I were insane and blind. I don't even find Peter Ho particularly hot when HXM is not in the picture. But let's hope I will be impressed.

4. I watched ep 7 of Black and White and how does this drama get better with each ep? Every little bit was good but my fave was the confrontation between YX, Chen Lin and Zai Tian. So painful, so good. I could almost switch to YX/Chen Lin if it wasn't uncanon and if I weren't such a mad Vic fangirl. But he is setting himself for such a world of hurt there.quick ep 7 specific comment )

5. I was rereading one of the novels I used to love a lot and still like, Kallocain by Karin Boye, a Swedish novelist. It's a dystopian classic and deserves to be better known. Here is a wikipedia article about it. I read it in Russian translation but I am sure you can find it in English, too. (I was reading it out loud to the baby because reading and voice is good for her - I was trying to make my voice be all baby-friendly, too, and baby-talk came quite oddly combined with sentences about a totalitarian state). Also, have been reading a lot of Robert Sheckley, a classic scifi author. He is wonderful (his Status Civilization is one of my favorite books and has been for years). Immortality Inc is great, but Mindswap is pure brilliance. I read it a long time ago in Russian but it's even better in its original language.
