dangermousie: (Eklavya: Saif Vidya)
I have resumed my watch of Bednaya Nastya, otherwise known as that Russian series with the male lead who makes dangermousie spasm.

It's the usual awesome crack (I am up to 80s somewhere, out of 120 eps) but there is one scene that made me all sort of insane from glee.

Vladimir and Anna come to a masked ball. And she is supposed to perform for all the aristocrats, including the Royal family. But she totally freezes at the piano because her mind is so not on it, because she and Vladimir just had this fight, and he is totally mad at her (eeee, mutual jealousy ftw). And she can't and runs off. And OMG OMG eeeee, he goes after her. And he is telling her that she is beautiful and talented and that she can do it and calls her Anya and there is staring of hotness and he strokes her hair and eeeeee!!! Eleventy. And so she goes out and sings beautifully (of course :D) and everybody is all mesmerized but she is totally singing only for him and the staaaaaaaaaring and they are smiling at each other totally oblivious to the crowd. And then everyone is applauding but all she cares about is this little nod from him. EEEE! Did I mention that afterwards he is all set to be taken away by the secret police? Oh sweet sweet crack. But he pretends it's nothing.

Vladimir why are you so hot it ruins my retinas?

Eeek! I really really want to watch the 1998 Russian adaptation of the Dumas novel La Dame De Monsoreau (one of my all time favorite books, and yes, I do own the 1970s French miniseries based on it. Bussy was one of my earliest crushes). And I can find it, too, but OMG, it’s over $120 and yes, it is 9 discs and 20 episodes long but still. *faint* I’ll think about it long and hard, I suppose. (There is also a Russian adaptation of Queen Margot and is way cheaper, but I am less interested in it because I love the French move so).

Oh, and Bednaya Nastya! This gets better and better. Apparently Vladimir has some sort of unspecified war PTSD trauma? Mmmmm. YES. I do love the scene where he is just getting drunk and hopeless, and the ‘witch’ (she isn’t really, but she is this odd lady who lives in a house in the woods) comes there, and even though he can’t stand her, she gets him going again because she says this is his new war, to recover what has been taken from him. And she is all ‘I can read faces and I see strength, and also love in your heart.’ :P So he glares at her and snarls ‘so, is the name of my beloved also written on my forehead?’ And she replies ‘Anna.’ And she adds that she knows that he loves her but she loves someone else and it’s eating him alive but he should put it aside and focus. Heh. But I’d be more impressed with the ‘witch’s’ being able to tell that the woman he loves is Anna if it wasn’t for the fact that even a blind person can read it. In large print.

Love triangle ramble )

And because I love pictures. Here are stills from Vladimir and Anna’s first on-screen interaction (in ep 1). The scene just has scary chemistry and a LOT of repression.

More and larger stills of hotness here )

Never fear, I am not lost to drama world :) Next week, [livejournal.com profile] tatterpunk and I are going to meet up and watch My Name is Kim Sam Soon.

Fuuuuuuuck. Could Bednaya Nastya get any better?

I do not believe so.

You know what I love? Vladimir is not an easy person, and he is hardly a sweetheart, but he is grown-up. Once he realizes that what he feels for Anna is love, he doesn't back down from his feelings, not even once, not even when he has no plans of letting her know. And OMG, they made up!

EEEEEE!

And because I am in a picspammy mood, one of my fave early scenes, Vladimir and Michael (and Andrei) giddy that they all survived Vladimir's duel with the Crown Prince, only to have Michael's sister come and tell them they are about to be arrested, and then it happening. Awesomeness. Seriously giddy hot boys.

Oh my. You poor, poor hunky hero of Bednaya Nastya. You are clearly bucking for a kdrama hero status, what with all the angst!

Not only did you just realize that you love a woman you can never have, and your best friend in all the world (and you don't make friends easily) just told you he still loves the woman you do (so the humiliation you put her through which made her hate you, was for nothing) BUT. You just found out, that due to Maria Alexeevna and Zabaluyev being evil and scheming and forgers, you have just lost your home and they are owners now. When you go 'it's unthinkable' you look like a lost little kid. AWWWWWW.

To cheer self up, some pics, from the Salome dance related stuff:

(telling Anna she will have to dance)
