I thought, instead of making four separate posts and cluttering the friendspage, I will combine.

Warning - image heavy.

Baker King - Tak Gu the puppy, shippy dysfunction and other good stuff - eps 14 and 15 )

And then I cheated and checked out ep 30 to find the most awesome, sweetest ending for Ma Jun/Yu Kyung.

Scene here )

I am continuing with my watch of the quirky, delicious Coffee House and it confirms two things - (1) Kang Ji Hwan can do no wrong my eyes. All he has to do is to appear and my heart flutters and (2) I am so happy that his OTP in this one is his decade-long friend, the strong-willed, eccentic, successful businesswoman and not the typical naive ingenue with no skills and a big heart. I cheated and watched the last ep, and the chemistry between the OTP - oh my GOD. So good.

A couple of caps )

And here is a huge number of caps from the first ep of Daemul (softsubs through ep 3 are out and I can't wait to catch up). It's my current favorite drama except for SKKS. Warning - most of these caps are of Kwon Sang Woo, because I am a hardcore KSW fangirl (hey, if I still adore him after both Bad Love AND Cinderella Man, I gotta be hardcore) and I am just so excited that he's finally picked a project that is both very good and very successful. Not to mention that I adore his character, Ha Doya, with an unholy degree of love.

Here here here. There be abs )

In conclusion, I had some random caps from ep 1 of Gloria left over, so have them.

Gloria caps here )

Thus endeth the ginormous post of doom.

I am about to start on my binge of Coffee House and I cannot wait!

I adored the first two episodes to bits when I watched them, Kang Ji Hwan is my favorite Korean actor (I'll watch him read a phonebook for 20 hours), I adore Park Shi Yeon, the rather laid-back vibe fits my mood, and just overall - love! I did not watch it when it aired because I knew I would want to binge and also because it wasn't exactly clear from the outset who Kang Ji Hwan's OTP was going to be and, to be honest, I was going to bail if it wasn't Park Shi Yeon. I liked KJH's perky young assistant, but let's face it, is it any competition when PSY was (a) his own age (b) highly competent (c) totally eccentric - as eccentric as he was (d) his best and oldest friend. For once, I wanted the man to end with the smart career woman. Yay, they obliged.

Have a shippy MV. He is an eccentric author, she is his long-suffering publisher.

The excellent Stormy Subs have released subs for the first ep of Natsu no Koi wa Nijiiro ni Kagayaku, i.e. Matsujun and Takeuchi Yuko's drama. They always do excellent subs and they are very fast (less than a week) and I am so giddy! The only three dramas I am following this season are this, Bad Guy, and Summer Desire (one each from each country :))

I do mean to check out Coffee House and Gumiho's Revenge in kdramas - loved the first ep of the former and concept of latter is exactly my thing. Plus, I want to check out Comrades (it's supposed to be excellent) and Baker King simply because I want to see why a show about baking rivalry with no-name actors is such a huge hit. I also want to check out that jdrama about wrongly accused lawyer on the run and that Nagase drama (whenever that one comes out).

Full summer!

1. I have not been following any airing kdramas this summer but that is not because there is nothing that grabbed my attention. I plan to marathon Bad Guy, Comrades, and Coffee House when they are done. Especially Bad Guy. Speaking of which, have this bit of adorableness.

2. Speaking of upcoming summer kdramas - the more I see of Girlfriend Gumiho, the less interested I am. However, I am getting quite excited about Mischievous Kiss (Kim Hyun Joong is manga-pretty and Jung So Min can actually act. Plus, the production team is really good and horrific scriptwriter of BOF is nowhere in sight :P) and Sungkyunkwan Scandal - I adored the concept of Scandal from the start and my big worry, Yoochun's ability to be a convincing lead, has been dispelled after watching Beautiful Love. I am sure he will do just fine. (His looks don't make my heart flutter but at least I don't get "eeeek, ugly!" reaction I am getting from Lee Seung Gi's stills in Gumiho).

3. Last but not least. HA JI WON HAS BEEN CAST AS FEMALE LEAD OPPOSITE JANG HYUK IN SECRET GARDEN OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG. Not only that, but Philip Lee (that's Chuhro the Sexy Warlord from Legend) has been cast as well. With an awesome scriptwriter and the cast to die for this is quickly becoming an ultimate must-see.

4. ETA: Also, apparently, Cha In Pyo has been cast as secondary guy in Daemul. SQUEE, I adore him! (He was the secondary guy in my favorite Cinderella story, Star in My Heart, and recently was in fun period drama The Reputable Family).

Hu Ge and Bai Bing who played the OTP of The Myth are apparently costarring again in a contemporary romcom drama called Bitter Coffee which started last month.

The trailer is v.v. cute (even if it's odd to see them out of period gear).

Pity it's never going to be subbed.

Hmmm, I think once I finish with The Myth, I have to take a break from my plan to marathon Hu Ge dramas. I mean, The Myth alone was so depressing I wanted to bang my head against the wall, if I marathonned more dramas like this without a break, I'd take to drinking.

Something fluffy for me next! Probably Coffee House (speaking of coffee)

Guess who is finally back on my screen?

That's right, ladies and gents, [livejournal.com profile] dangermousie's Number 1 Kdrama Love, i.e. Kang Ji Hwan is back in the adorable, delicious, fast-paced Coffee House. I don't think I fangirl anyone else in quite the same way - the first moment he appeared on my screen it's as if something relaxed inside me. Kinda insane and a little embarassing. But then the man has not been in a drama for over 2 years (!!!!) so you have to pardon my enthusiasm.

But luckily for me, Coffee House is worth watching regardless of whether one is a Kang Ji Hwan fangirl or not. I haven't been quite this gripped by the first episode since Chuno. I've seen flisties wonder if it is some sort of a Coffee Prince rip-off due to name similarities but they have nothing in common except for a certain realistic/off-kilter vibe. Different premise, different characters, different everything. The vibe of this drama reminds me rather of my favorite drama of all time Worlds Within, which makes sense since they share the same PD.

This story of an eccentric, charming, high-maintenance author and the people in his life actually feels like a jdrama - my favorite kind of kdrama is kdrama doing a jdrama through its unique lens. Love Story jdrama, with Toyokawa Etsushi as a blunt bestseller, comes to mind with this, a little, though Kang Ji Hwan's off-kilter hero is closer to Vic Zhou's eccentric in Wish to See You Again. CH may just complete the trifecta of awesome dramas about authors then.

The pace is fast, and the characters are all interesting. You know me, Miss plotty/shippy/angsty. Well, here is a confession - I don't care whether Kang Ji Hwan ends up with his assistant or his publisher or neither. I don't care if there will be plot and I hope there will be no angst. Yes - I love the characters and the world THAT much.

So far, this is the drama of the summer for me.

And because I can, here is a MV for Kang Ji Hwan's Hong Gil Dong, the best Robin Hood version out there, for my money (and the only Hong Sisters drama to crack my Top 10, despite my love for their My Girl).
