I have no excuses for this post. This is basically an attempt to lure [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf into checking out Ayashi No Ceres (Ceres: the Celestial Legend), my favorite manga.

A dark fantasy, AnC centers around Aya, a rebellious 16-year-old who is almost killed by her family on her 16th birthday. Saved by a mysterious stranger and on the run, Aya must find out what is the power that makes her family want her dead, who can she rely on, what is the truth beneath the family legends, and whether she and her beloved twin brother are destined to be enemies. Oh, and who is the gorgeous rescuer and can she trust him? And if not, can she stop herself from loving him anyway?

There is a complicated fantasy plot, cool characters and fights, but let's face it, I am in it for the hunted and potentially lethal heroine and the amnesiac assassin sent after her by her family who ends up falling in love with her instead.

Since [livejournal.com profile] darkeyedwolf seemed to be intrigued by the fact that there is het in this, here are some panels from the time they first make love.

NSFW hotness here. So cheesy, so good! )

Yes, I went crazy for Fruits Basket. Craaaazy. I just bought the anime, I bought three more volumes (and buying the rest tomorrow), I went looking for wallpapers. Just as well, as I just finished my Ayashi No Ceres: Toya! I love you. How can you not love a guy who is in the middle of a mad fight, being all bad-ass and conentrated and destructive, and he tells the opponent (the Progenitor, who's been after Aya this whole time) 'I exist only for her' and mean it. *dies* OMG! And he found out she is having his baby and I love the panel where he reaches out and touches her stomach and his eyes are wet. (Progenitor, it's not a good idea to tell the guy you are fighting and who is doing a good job of murdering you as is, that you will kill the woman for whom he literally came back from the dead, and his unborn child). The ending makes me cry, with Aya and Toya ready to face anything, including the possibility that their time together may be short, and Aya heavily pregnant, and dreaming of all her dead friends and family.

But anyway, this is a sidetrack. I went looking for FB pics and fanfic (and I did find some good fic) but on that forum I also found a spoiler for chapter 130! And it made me EEEEEEE! (It's Kyo and Kyo/Tohru centric).

Number 1 reason why I love Ayashi No Ceres:

Yup, I am a Toya fangirl. (I only have one volume left and I am sort of postponing because I don't want it to be over).

Let me tell you, reading a volume with a cover like this on crowded public transit results in people giving you som really interesting looks.

I have finished volume 1 of Fruits Basket and all I can say is KYO!!! I still adore Yuki like whoa, but I think I am going to be a Kyo girl all the way (it's interesting because in RL I am all about the reserved guys, but here, as in Hanadan, I am all about the loud one :D I really have no consistency with what type of manga/anime character I prefer. E.g. Toya is a hell of a lot closer to Yuki, type-wise, than he is to Kyo.)

I adore Tohru. She is going to be one of my fave manga heroines, I can tell. She isn't bratty or whiny or saintly or anything. And she is cheerful without being annoying about it.

OMG, I loved the bit where Kyo came to meet Tohru at night because she was walking through the forest alone, for her safety. And OMG, it's adorable how he is trying so hard to learn how to behave and not blurt out first, defensive things that come into his mouth. And I love that Tohru realizes then and there that yes, he is trying to apologize, he just has no idea how, and that he is a good guy, just with no social skills at all (What kind of life did he have before anyway? Seriously. When Hot Cousin talks to him about some girl who will eventually tell him ILY, Kyo says he would ask her if she is crazy. Bwah?) Just as she basically sums it all up later in her head by thinking that beneath his scowl there is an awkward smile. Heee.

You know what really strikes me? How taken aback and delighted both Yuki and Kyo seem to be that Tohru is actually interested in them, as people, in their likes and dislikes (gardening for Yuki, the martial arts for Kyo). It's like they have to get used to the concept that they are worthwhile. That they matter. Because Yuki, in his quiet way, is just as anti-social as Kyo: he seems to be totally afraid of people rejecting him so he never lets them in. Whatever screwed them both up (I am assuming the curse), it's kinda like the Domyouji-Shin dichotomy I discussed with [livejournal.com profile] kitsune714 a while back, of the extravert-introvert reaction to the same fubar situation: it made Yuki a perfectionist introvert who is reserved because he doesn't want people to let him in and be hurt, and because if he is 'perfect' everything will be all right, and it made Kyo sort of lash out in not knowing how to behave and act out and push people away that way. Hmmm.

How much did I love the scene where Kyo and Yuki came to get Tohru from the house of evil relatives? I LOVED IT. Because they both miss having her in the house. I love it! I am not getting a romantic vibe here at all yet (though, because of personal preferences, I am Kyo/Tohru if I have to pick, though I am not rabid yet) but more like they want people who care about them around. And I love the bit where Kyo tells her it's OK to be unhappy and she should be able to express it. Because she is sunny (probably because she's tried so hard not to be a burden on people who had to take her in) but she's had a hard life. GUUUH. Kyo love.

I feel really bad about no hugging because a hug, while not the sexiest or most romantic, is perhaps the most comforting of all emotions: it makes you feel cared for.

Oh, and I really like the Boar Girl (blanking on the name) who wants to marry Kyo. LOL. She reminds me a bit of Chidori from Ceres and a lot of a grown-up version of Merle from Escaflowne (which makes sense as Kyo is rather Van-like). Heeeee. If they hooked up, it would be non-stop fireworks. :D

I had a really long, hard weekend (I worked straight through it, finishing around 5am last night) so when I tell you that despite complete lack of sleep, I am totally looking forward to finally watching more of Beautiful Life in the evening, you know how much I love it.

LOVE.

spoilers through first half of ep 3 )

In other news, to reward self for being productive, I bought a bunch of manga today, including the first two volumes of Fruits Basket (what is it with the name??? It put me off for years.) So far I am about a third of the first volume in and I love it. I’ve only met Tohru (who I’d want to be like when I grow up only I am grown up. She is rather like Miaka in her cheerfulness, only with better cooking abilities, and rather more self-sufficient :D) and Yuki, who I really really like, and Yuki’s dark haired older cousin who he lives with, whose name I am blanking on, who is sex-on-a-stick looking. But, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore, no Kyo yet.

And I finished vol. 13 of Ayashi No Ceres (semi-shirtless intense Toya on the cover? droooool). It was a Toya-less volume and went into necessary but not too 'I am into it' story of Ceres and the Progenitor. But OMG! Toya is back at the end. And I am a girly girl but I cried when Shuro died. Or when Aya missed Toya. Yeah. I was in public, too.

Heeee! I love Yu Watase. She (unlike other creators I could name) knows how to please the shippers. One of her little side-note comment thingies mentions, totally matter of factly that "For example, Ceres was written on the premise that the love between Aya and Toya is sacred and inviolable, as a necessary foil to Kagami's ideals. If anyone were to question that, the entire composition would fall apart."

GLEE. RABID SHIPPER GLEE.

Oh, and yeah, I got to that part of volume 12 of Ayashi No Ceres.

Oh Toya. And Aya! Dammit, I know he comes back but still...

*sniffle*

I was half-covering the pages. AnC is like the Fushigi Yuugi angst, times 43. If I didn't have all the volumes and had no idea what would happen later, I'd throw things.

On a lighter note, what is the thing with the hickeys? Heee. I love the bit where he leaves on his last mission *sob* but he doesn't tell her what he is doing, and he kisses her neck and says he'll be back before that mark will fade. And then pauses and adds 'I mean that mark' (as opposed to all the other hickeys she is currently sporting 'cause of him) and she is all 'you are such a guy.' Heeee. (I also love how he has a Tamahome-ish 'I know I am not 'normal' but I don't care too much, as I am baout the practicals, taking care of Aya' thing going).

Anyway.

So my manga boyfriend.

The scene where he held her all night, waiting for her to wake up? Or later, when he just kneels and holds her?

GUH.

Heee, and he is the world's lousiest rock-paper-scissors player. Heeee.

But now I am getting to that part of Vol 12 and though I know it turns out OK, I just can't look at all. nooooooo.

P.S. yes, there is a lovemaking scene in every volume so far.

P.P.S. I decided young Takeshi Kaneshiro is totally what Toya would look like. Sigh

Ahhhh, badfic. This time it's from Ayashi No Ceres, a manga/anime about a Japanese girl, Aya, with mysterious destiny and powers. You don't need to know more. Summaries, as always, from ff.net

I suck! I now, but still, please go and read this one :D

Honesty is NOT the best policy, with this one.

A Girl saying she can help Aya defet the Mikage. A girl saying she knows Ceres. A girl saying she can tell Toya his past. But will this girl change evrything that was supposed to happen?

Her name is Marscipinissa Greyhairfairswan, she has purple eyes and green hair, and she is the newest American exchange student.

Oh baby please come back to me,im dying without you" said Aya. (please review!)

Dying from bad grammar, apparently.

Aya-Toya, Aya has just met her true luv on the internet. Only one thing stands in their way, he wont give her his picture, why? because he's a movie star and doesn't want her to know.

Or alternatively, he is a fat, sick-headed, middle-age perv in Kansas who is up for some barely legal lovin'. I am just saying.

Chp 5 is here! Why Touya? Why did u leave me? U said u loved me... why did u have to die? Touya dies in tragic ship wreck.Left his fiance Aya, all alone in this world but did he really? haha Continue on reading and find out...

'You made me realize life is short. Too short to waste time typing out the word 'you' in fact.'
