It has finally happened. I have succumbed to a Thai lakorn.

Meet my new obsession, otherwise known as Leave the Last Light at the Horizon (Yark Yood Tawan Wai Tee Plai Fah).

The story takes place in a fictional kingdom neighboring Thailand - the King has decided to turn the country into a democracy but he knows many factions in his government would do anything they can to prevent that. The king, worried his only child, Princess Napatsarawadee, would become a target as well, and asks for help from one of his officers. The officer sends the Princess (who was about to come home from studying in France) to Thailand incognito and asks his friend, a professional bodyguard/former police officer, to take care of her. The story goes from there.

I am about an ep in and I am totally obsessed - I have been reading manga lately and this story has an utter manga vibe, from a fictional kingdom, to beyond-sexy and gun-obsessed hero, to heroine with big eyes and a pound of make-up. And above all, it's bodyguard/princess - that's about the biggest fictional obsession I have.

Lakorns and I have a somewhat fraught relationship - I approve of the ridiculously hot guys and I love the certain romance novel insanity the plots have but the fact that I never know when and if the hero decides raping the heroine is a good idea makes me really twitchy. But I threw away all my caution to the wind for Horizon - I am so ridiculously obsessed.

Have an official MV:

In conclusion, he can guard my body any time:

In completely unrelated news, I checked out Beautiful Love, the cell jdrama that was Micky Yoochun's acting debut (it's a mini drama with 12 10-min episodes costarring the girl who played Sunako in Wallflower). My sole interest was to see if he can act at all due to his upcoming Scandal drama (which sounds very much up my alley except my worries about his ability). I watched ep 1 and am very pleased to report that, as far as I can tell from the 10 min running time, he actually did a really good job. He is not winning the Baeksang any time soon, but he is absolutely fine - unlike some idols-turned-actors I can think of *coughHeadingtotheGroundcough* he is not a human-shaped tree but someone I can watch without trouble. Yay!!! Also, after ep 1, I am left madly wishing that BL was a proper drama, with 10 45-min eps or similar - I am sort of obsessed with the storyline (which is more kdrama than jdrama) - he is an arrogant rich boy with issues and artistic ability and she is a Japanese blogger visiting Korea - sparks fly, they fight etc etc. I am sure someone will die. It would be awesome as a proper drama, but boooooo, not to be.
