Somebody, stop me. I discovered amazon.co.uk. Which has all these awesome shows I want. Stop me. Please. (Yes, I just might go on British shows binge. Heck, I've done every other country I could).

In other news, I finished KimuTaku's Beautiful Life. Ummm. Yeah. That was cheerful. *hysterical laughter* If you are a sadist who kills puppies with broken glass. Definitely cements my opinion that no way in hell will you get me to watch '1 Litre of Tears.' I mean, I am going to need to finish 'Hello Miss' ASAP now, out of sheer self-preservation or else my face will collapse into a permanent weepy position. Yikes.

In completely unrelated news, according to the wiki article on Daleks, they have appeared in porn. My mind is so boggled by it, I have nothing whatsoever to add to it.

Oh, yes I do. Did I mention we are going to Buenos Aires? Side trip to Uruguay maybe. Any recs for cool things to do there?

I think I am brave enough to restart watching Beautiful Life. But I will need a LOT of handholding.

I am in a mad mood for a jdrama so I decided to restart ABL, about an eccentric hairdresser (KimuTaku *swoon*) and a handicapped librarian, who fall in love. And I love that these are two very individual, distinct, somewhat difficult people, not shiny romance novel fantasy.

It's romantic, and I loved the eight episodes I have seen with a crazy passion but I just know this one ends in tears, so I stopped for a long time.

Seriously, I am so going to need LJ support.

But you know what's so funny? I am really tired and nothing I was watching was keeping my interest because I get scatterbrained when exhausted. But I put this in, and the pacing. And KimuTaku (I always forget the sheer level of his intensity. He reminds me of SRK. Every time it's a shock.) and BAM.

Not tired, not inattentive, not anything any more.

Just absorbed.

He is about to go find her, even though he found out she has a one in third chance to end up dead.

OMG.

Here is a wonderful MV for it:

ETA: The problem is, much as I love this, it's giving me a huge yen to rewatch Pride (my second fave drama ever) and I can't be adding anything to the watch list :)

First off, have to share: the other night I dreamt Aishwarya Rai was married to Harry Potter. My fandom hats are getting confused, I think.

So, Fruits Basket. It even got me to read scanlations which gives me a headache. Oh well, a sacrifice well-worth-it ;)

I am in the middle of volume 16 which deals with Tohru’s parents. Awwww. And I almost cried when it dealt with her Dad’s death.

But anyway, that’s not what I want to talk about. I want to talk about volume 15. And Yuki. And Kyo.

Cut for ramblings )

In other news I also read massive season finale spoilers for Battlestar Galactica. If true, whoa! (You can find them on TWOP and elsewhere).

Oh, and Amazon? Bizarre. I bought 6 volumes of manga (1-5 of Can’t Lose You and 1 of Basara) and it delivered volumes 1 and 4 of CLY and said the rest will be delivered separately. Why? Bizarre.

I am also midway though ep 8 of Beautiful Life. Kyoko is rather high-maintenance. I am getting mildly annoyed with her skittishness and distrust. So yeah, he knows other women. Chill. But of course, we find out she has a 30% chance of dying (this being a jdrama, it’s a 100% chance ;)) so I’ll cut her slack. She is dealing with it better than I would. I love the scene where Shuji finds her and basically tells her he loves her in this really awesome, matter-of-fact fashion. But the scene I love the most is where he learns about 30% from Kyoko’s Mom and just Kimura’s face: the shock, and trying to process, and disbelief and everything.

Before leaving this morning, I needed a pick-me up, so I watched a certain scene from ep 6 of Pride. Meeeeep. Still awesome.

Speaking of awesome, I have continued with my watch of Beautiful Life and am now halfway through episode 7. Love it as much as ever.

Rambly thoughts on the eps )

And now on to my other great fictional love of lately: Fruits Basket. Finished volume 6 and had no time to go to bookstore for more, and am suffering from withdrawal.

Wow.

WOW.

This is officially my second favorite jdrama, behind only Pride. (Because no one beats Halu and Aki).

Spoilers through ep 4 )

In other dorama news, [livejournal.com profile] tatterpunk, I found a source for Brand 2000 so hopefully I'll have it soon. EEEE!

And I have continued to read Fruits Basket and I have totally fallen for Kyo now. I can pinpoint the exact moment, actually. It's when he comes home from the first day at school (which was rough for everyone concerned) and he is all 'I was horrible to Tohru, I only say mean things to her' and the Hot Cousin points out that maybe he should be nice at first if he is going to be beating himself up as much as he is doing over not being nice. And Kyo admits he has no idea how to be social and how to interact and Cousin points out that it's more natural for some people than others, but he has to work at it and he'll be good. (Meanwhile Tohru is feeling bad that the 'cat' her favorite from childhood doesn't like her. Awwww).

I am getting the weird vibe that even though it's funny and fluffy, there is going to be some major angst in this one, right? I can just tell.

And speaking of angst, I found a cool MV for Kyo/Tohru from the anime. It gets points (though Iam not sure whether coolness or geekiness points, or both, for being set to a song from Buffy's S6 musical ep).

MV here )

And because I am in a youtube kinda mood, I found a MV for my all-time favorite secondary couple, Xi Men and Xiao You in Meteor Garden. Their equivalents Soujiro and Yuki in Hanadan don't ping my OTP sense very much, but Xi Men and Xiao You? Oh boy. Probably because you really get the sense of his liking her a lot but not allowing himself to go forward.

MV here )

Oh, and my shiny official Goong DVD set shipped early last week. Hopefully I'll get it this week. I wants it, my preciousssss. It's odd. I really really liked Goong when I first watched it, but it's one of the rare dramas where the more time passes, the more I love it.

I had a really long, hard weekend (I worked straight through it, finishing around 5am last night) so when I tell you that despite complete lack of sleep, I am totally looking forward to finally watching more of Beautiful Life in the evening, you know how much I love it.

LOVE.

spoilers through first half of ep 3 )

In other news, to reward self for being productive, I bought a bunch of manga today, including the first two volumes of Fruits Basket (what is it with the name??? It put me off for years.) So far I am about a third of the first volume in and I love it. I’ve only met Tohru (who I’d want to be like when I grow up only I am grown up. She is rather like Miaka in her cheerfulness, only with better cooking abilities, and rather more self-sufficient :D) and Yuki, who I really really like, and Yuki’s dark haired older cousin who he lives with, whose name I am blanking on, who is sex-on-a-stick looking. But, [livejournal.com profile] meganbmoore, no Kyo yet.

And I finished vol. 13 of Ayashi No Ceres (semi-shirtless intense Toya on the cover? droooool). It was a Toya-less volume and went into necessary but not too 'I am into it' story of Ceres and the Progenitor. But OMG! Toya is back at the end. And I am a girly girl but I cried when Shuro died. Or when Aya missed Toya. Yeah. I was in public, too.

Incestuous German pair fight case

A German brother and sister who live as a couple and have four children are going to Germany's highest court to try to legalise their relationship.

The 29-year-old brother has already spent more than two years in prison for sleeping with his sister, and could be incarcerated again, his lawyer said.

The pair are currently drawing up an appeal to take before Germany's constitutional court.

They argue they are being denied the right to sexual freedom.

The pair did not grow up together. Patrick, the brother, had been adopted by a couple from Potsdam while his sister, Susan, grew up with their mother.

But when he reached adulthood he wanted to track down his biological parents. He found his mother, and he met Susan.

About six months later, the mother died, and Patrick moved in with Susan. In 2001, their son, Erik, was born. He was subsequently taken into foster care.

Three more children were born between 2003 and 2005. In November of that year, the pair were tried for incest.

Patrick was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison. His sister, then 21, was put into the care of youth services.

According to Spiegel online, while Patrick was in prison Susan had a fifth child with another man.

Their lawyer, Endrik Wilhelm, told the BBC News website that the pair are now living together again and plan to lodge their case within six weeks.

Seriously, this sounds like something out of a Korean drama.

And yes, I do have plenty to say on Beautiful Life. I am only on ep 3 because of having to work all weekend with literally no free time, but if I loved it more than I do now, I'd probably have a coronary, or something.
