Faith posts will be late this week as I haven't watched the eps yet. Baby Mousie is a bit sick so no time/brainpower for watching.

I promise to get to them later in the week.

Meanwhile, if you haven't yet checked out [livejournal.com profile] lb_klove, do so.

She posts awesome Faith fanfic.

Sorry for being relatively MIA for the last few days. What with Baby Mousie's birthday party, family visiting, Valentine's Day, it got a little busy. But now the family went home (boooo, I love having Mr. Mousie's parents around), the party is over (it was a big hit - 9 of her friends came and she had a blast. She's been muttering "Happy Day, Heehee [corruption of her name]" ever since and demanding cake). And V Day is behind us - it was our 11-yr anniversary. We got a babysitter and went to a dinner and a movie. Munchkin was verrrry grumpy at me this morning for 'ditching' her but eventually condescended to forgive me. Oh, and Mr. Mousie gave me an amazon gift card among other things, which I have already partially used to acquire for my kindle a book on the Tang Dynasty as well as a book on the Incas I've been eyeing for months.

Anyway, back to dramas.

1. Dream High

Dream High ep 13 quick thoughts )

2. Jade Palace Lock Heart:

Jade Palace Lock Heart ep 8 )

3. Haven't had time yet to catch up this weekend's eps of New Tales of the Gisaeng but seeing that I am only watching one storyline, it won't take long. I honesntly cannot imagine any circumstances under which Saran will become a gisaeng, but supposedly she will, so I am very curious.

4. Is The Duo done with its childhood scenes yet? I want to check it out but only once adults come on the scene.

5. The first ep of the Inuyasha-type The Holy Pearl is about halfway subbed so I am going to check it out. Apparently they credited Inuyasha so it's all cool :)

ETA: Just finished the first ep and I like. It helps that I always found Gillian Chung immensely likeable on-screen though she isn't much of an actress. It's fun, animeish fantasy - not a serious materpiece or anything, but quite enjoyable. Plus, horned dude is hot.

6. The list of unsubbed cdramas that I really really would love to watch if only subs were out there is as long as my arm, but I am adding another one to it: The Conquest/The Warriors, starring Chen Kun and Sonija Kwok as star-crossed lovers in the Warring Kingdoms period (I think). There's slavery, angst, shippiness and other good things. Have a MV:

7. I've pretty much lost interest in Bu Bu Jing Xin, the upcoming period/timetravel drama with Liu Shishi, because [livejournal.com profile] fishcake gave me some details on the plot and it has some really big dealbreakers for me, but I have to say the design looks gorgeous. Hellochloe posted some new stills on her blog. Go take a look :)

8. Great news! Jiang Hu picked up cdrama Iljimae for subbing! You probably know them from Legend of Condor Heroes 200, HXM's Shanghai Bund etc. They are really really really good! It will probably take them a while to get to it seeing that they are busy subbing the monster Three Kingdoms (which I am dying to watch), but when they do, it will be excellent excellent subs!

Baby Mousie is stuffing her face with pasta and playing, and I am drinking chai latte and lunching on tomato soup while watching Casablanca - the local diner we went to is playing it with subs.

Heaven. Heaven heaven heaven.

I love Casablanca so much - a little more so with every time I watch it (though for the record, I am more of a Lazslo girl than a Rick one).

Speaking of classic movies, I wonder if my hint to Mr. Mousie about getting the Thin Man movies box set was sufficiently specific. I love those movies. It was the first time I realized marriage could be fun! (- was in high school at the time :))

...is Baby Mousie, my 23-month-old daughter.

Heh.

It started innocuously enough - she was teething and cranky and I wanted to play some nice and cheery music for her but our electricity was out so no youtube or TV or radio was available. The only musical thing I could think of right away was the Genie number in Dream High.

So I showed it to my whiny, cranky darling and miraculously there was smiles and arm-waving.

So far, so good.

But now she insists on watching it every day, twice in a row (my question of "again?" is purely rhetorical at this point as she always responds "'gain"). She grabs my hand and tries to get us to imitate their hand gestures. And she claps during the break in the song and at the end, and yells "yay!!"

She likes some other musical/bright bits of the eps too (I tried out of curiousity) but not the way she does Genie.

And when I turn it off, she yells "bye bye" at them.

It's all amusing, but what is mildly worrying is that she's taken to calling Taecyeon "honey" - as when he's on screen, she goes "Hi, Honey!" And not just once or twice but often. LOLOLOLOLOLOL. It's a little disturbing. I suppose it could be worse seeing that she referred to Jang Geun Seok as "Mommy!" when I played her some musical clip from MSOAN a few months ago. Oh Good God, I am creating a kdrama/kpop fangirl without meaning to, aren't I? I play Russian songs and classical music for her too, honest. She hasn't addressed Karajan as "honey" yet though.

I was watching Mary Stayed Out All Night and Baby Mousie was snuggling on the bed with me, not paying any attention to the screen.

Until Jang Geun Seok came on, that is.

All of a sudden she sat up, started excitedly pointing at him, and yelling "Mommy Mommy Mommy!!!!"

My child thinks Jang Geun Seok is her mother.

There are no words.

None.

(The alternative is that she sometimes labels all grown-up men of a certain age "Daddy" and all grown-up women of a certain age "Mommy." In that case, the incident is only marginally less funny).

Brb, seeing my therapist.

1. Cord found but connection here is lousy so not much net time.

2. Baby Mousie is afraid of the ocean - she loved the pool when we took her to lessons but she sees the ocean, clutches me and cries. Clearly she is afraid I will drown her. City girl! :)

3. Have finished ep 3 of Resurrection and such ridiculous mad love (if you need a recommendation - it is by the same people who made Mawang, a.k.a. a perfect drama). I love the colors, the complicated dark revenge/mystery, and the OTP. Ohhhh, the OTP! They are stepsiblings - he was taken into her family by her Dad when he was 7 or so and was so traumatized he was mute - he has no memory before that time and his name is an inversion of hers - she was named Eun Ha so her Dad just flipped the syllables and named him Haeun. He basically has no identity outside of her. And they know they love each other but he's been trying to deny it for her good even though it kills him but he finally can't and...oh God, I love them so!

I love all the main characters but especially Uhm Tae Woong's protagonist - the happy-go-lucky detective who is such a good guy and whose really sunny careless manner conceals a really really messed-up past (Hello. Mute from Trauma!)

I love love love...

You accidentally kiss a super hot guy and now he is yours forever! Ahhhh, would be nice.

Guys, I have the best flist ever!

Thank you for helping me find He Was Cool (alternative title seems to be 'He Was gorgeous.' LOLOL. I am all for truth in advertising). I kept going crazy because I was looking everywhere under the letter "h" as opposed to 'the guy was cool' that it's labelled under.

HWC is a fluffy funny romance starring Song Seung Heon (my reason for watching) and Jang Da Bin - the plot is deliciously cracktastic. SSH is a tough guy from a vocational school who posts an insulting message on the webpage of an-all girls school (something to the eloquent effect of "You girls are all dogs, go DIAF"). Jang Da Bin is a spunky student from this all-girls school who is understandably pissed off and posts a message of similar nature back (losely interpreted it goes something like "DIAF yourself, jerk!") SSH is much displeased and threatens JDB (whom he's never met) in a typical immature dork way (calling her up and telling her she'll get it, telling her he will come to her school to sort it out etc). It is when Jang Da Bin is trying to escape that last threat (he and his buddies are waiting outside the school gates) that the hilarious scene behind the cut, which sets the plot in motion, happens. JDB decides to escape the goons by climbing over the school wall and leaving that way. What she does not realize is that SSH's character is right under that wall or that keeping her balance is rather hard. So of course she falls right on his lips, as people tend to do in Asia. (I have asked Mr. Mousie whether he or anyone he knows ever kissed anyone accidentally and received a negative. As my experience has been similarly lacking in accidental kissing, I assume that is a phenomenon related solely to Korean/Chinese/Japanese DNA - maybe DNA makes the lips magnetized?). And then - what happens is incredibly hilarious but the long and the short of it is, SSH demands that JDB takes the responsibility for despoiling his virgin lips and become his fiancee. JDB, understandably, decides he is insane with equal fervor. Fun ensues.

The smooch of hilarious doom under the cut )

Anyway, I did not get much further than that as was exhausted and wanted to crawl into bed (Mr. Mousie and I went for a dinner and a walk with Baby Mousie - we try to walk with her every evening - the weather is nice, she gets to look around (she is a night owl like Mom and Dad) and she sleeps better. The dinner was fun too, though the restaurant almost ground to a halt because half the wait staff was playing with the baby - one of them even got our permission to carry Baby Mousie all over the restaurant and show her off. *maternal pride*)

HWC is, so far, delicious, funny, and adorable. Like most every poppy, non-arthousy Korean movie I have ever seen, it would have made a really adorable drama. Both SSH and JDB are much too old to be in high school, but for me that is part of the fun - I would not drool over a 17-yr-old but I am happily drooling over almost-30 SSH (I stand by my opinion - he's the sexiest Korean actor out there, for me. There are some that are 'prettier' - Lee Jun Ki looks like an anime character in the flesh and Joo Ji Hoon is almost creepily perfect-featured, but I have never seen anyone else who oozes sheer sex appeal the way SSH does).

A few bonus SSH pics )
