1. Apparently Baker King finished with over 50% ratings (50.8% precisely, according to AGB). Woo-hoo! I am more than a dozen eps behind, but now that I have been assured that the ending is happy on both the OTP front (both Tak Gu/Mi Sun and Ma Jun/Yu Kyung get a happy ending) and the unbrother front (Ma Jun and Tak Gu make up), I will definitely catch up - I was pretty sure Tak Gu was going to get his happily ever after but I wasn't sure about poor ambivalent, flirting-with-darkness Ma Jun. I thought it would have been unfair if he didn't get a chance after his screwed-up upbringing which was responsible for most of his issues. So yay!

After all, could you ever resist this cuteness? )

So, yup, the drama which henceforth be known as "the drama about food in which a Lee Junki-lookalike and a Kang Dong Won-lookalike had a very sexy rivalry" is finally over, with the highest rating of any drama since 2008. Runaway has some really big shoes to fill.

2. I watched ep 35 of Giant, part-subbed but mostly raw. (Clearly I was so true to my word of keeping away from it. Heh. I am obsessed. I dreamed about it last night). And, ladies and gents, we had a momentous event in 35! Was it the reapprearance of missing-presumed-dead Chairman Hwang Taesop? Or Gangmo's successful stock manipulations? No, not at all. I am talking about something genuinely important, namely the appearance of the beloved "angsty shower" scene. It only took 35 episodes! Seeing that some dramas stick it in the first ep, Giant sure took its sweet time.

Mmmmmm. Angsty scruffy Min Woo in the shower. That's like a triple-hitter. I don't really understand anything he is saying other than repeating over and over "I am sorry, Miju." MMMMM. Sadly, Giant continues its extreme reluctance to have its leading men show any flesh. The closest we came is when Gangmo had a bullet extracted and we saw his arms (I am not counting wide shots of dudes in prison camp). I was OK with it because people don't plan revenge or discuss construction plans naked, but when we get to a shower with clothes on, I draw a line. Who on earth showers fully clothed? Except for Kwn Sang Woo in Staiway to Heaven.

Despite ep 35 being full of angsty scenes for my beloved ship, for the first time I have genuine hope they will overcome their obstacles and live happily-ever-after. There is no way the writer would be pushing the whole "they still love each other, and so genuinely" if he wasn't planning a reunion down the line. Especially since it has been conclusively established that Miju trumps everything for Min Woo.
