Am back home. Mr Mousie and I watched more Friday Night Lights (up through 1.14) and I love that show more and more. Am too exhausted to meta, so for now, all I am going to say is, Jason and Lyla getting married is about the worst idea ever.

Also watched Akai Ito jdrama on the plane - all of it. No, the flight was not that long, but fast-forwarding will get you everywhere. AI is based on a cellphone novel but unlike the inspired, over-the-top lunacy of a fellow cellphone novel adaptation Koizora, sadly, AI isn't deliciously trashy, it's just badly-written in a lowkey kind of way. The two protagonists are lovely, well-adjusted people, even if I am hard-pressed to buy the supposed epicness of their love (chance cake-sharing at 8, a bit of middle school dating, and then getting back together in high school in a fairly mundane manner does not a star-crossed couple make) - in another drama, their very low-keyness and lack of OTT in their relationship would have been a nice bit of slice-of-life drama gem. Unfortunately, this is a cellphone novel so instead we get random insanity courtesy of their friends and families which occupies a lot of badly-written space - see character A jump off a roof with no warning because she saw her friend and a guy she likes shop together! See character B become a drug addict, randomly, for half an episode! See character C go from a sweet-natured, well-adjusted guy to an abuser for no reason and then get runover by a car! See character D decide to become a 16-yr-old mother! See character E slit her wrists out of the blue. The character progression was more of an inexplicable zombie lurch and the supposedly big emotional moments were so badly prepared and out-of-whack I was kind of laughing. Oh well.

Because I have the attention span of a gnat, I've decided to add another drama to all the ones I am watching (which are BOF, Princess Ja Myung, Cain & Abel, To Get Her, Meteor Garden rewatch, My Boss My Hero, Resurrection, Wish To See You Again and Love Storm). The drama in question? The Japanese drama Akai Ito.

Here is an adorable MV for it.

I have high hopes for it because it's based on a cellphone novel and the last cellphone novel drama I've seen was Koizora which gave us bleached-blond hair, snow babies, quasi-gang-rape, evil exes, dying boys, and every other cheesy thing known to man, woman, or beast.

I have no idea if Akai Ito can live up to that high standard, but I am hoping the hero and heroine will turn out to be siblings. It has to be either that or terminal illness, and terminal illness has already been covered by Koizora...

I have only one thing to say about the scene in the desert with Choi In in ep 3 of Cain and Abel. That was beyond brutal. Oh, man. Ahhh, the joys of a So Ji Sub drama - I'd forgotten. I have no idea of the plot of C&A (I mean, I know the set-up, but I have no idea how it will go) but I sincerely hope he will eventually track down the director and stepmom who ordered this and make them pay. And pay. And pay. Preferably with rusty nails involved. (Side note: I love a good revenge drama: Green Rose, Resurrection, Mawang, A Love to Kill).

Is nobody on my friends' list watching the jdrama Love Shuffle? Seriously, come on, nobody? I just discovered it and, more importantly, discovered it stars Tamaki Hiroshi and Matsuda Shota (and a female star named Karina???) and involves people swapping relationships and boy/boy (i.e. Hiroshi/Shota) kissing. I'd think some of my flisties would be all over it but noooo. FAIL. :P

I have a huge jdrama craving though, so I am going to start both Long Love Letter (I have the entirety of it), My Boss My Hero (have first ep dl!), finally finish Ice World (I like it, just got sidetracked) and maybe check out Akai Ito, currently airing, which is based on a cellphone novel:

Can it be as cracktastic as Koizora? We can only hope!

Also, I really really must start Iljimae. So pretty!
