I think this season is literally untenable for me.

Here is what I want to follow:

Mon/Tues - Faith
Tues - Answer Me 1997
Wed/Thurs - Bridal Mask
Wed/Thurs - Arang and the Magistrate
Sat/Sun - Five Fingers
Sat/Sun - May Queen

That is 11+ hours of TV a week (probably closer to 13, seeing that a lot of eps are 1:10). Considering I have a family, job, other hobbies, and need to sleep, this is untenable. (
I used to follow 5 dramas at a time - Big, Bridal Mask, Dr. Jin, I Need Romance 2012, A Gentleman's Dignity, but not for long before they got modified to a more manageable 3. Plus, Bg and Dr Jin were ff-central).

Yet, how to cut it?

Come hell or high water, Gaksital is staying in - I obsessed over 20 eps, I am unlikely to ditch the last 8.
I am keeping both Arang and Faith unless either unexpectedly sucks. (Please don't!)
I could probably wait to finish AM1997 until it's done, only it's the drama with the smallest time commitment (an hour a week) and if I leave it out, I am left with three heavy-duty period dramas, which might be a bit much - one needs variety.

That leaves May Queen and Five Fingers. Between the two of them, I am more likely to keep FF, as Joo Ji Hoon is back and I love makjang, yet MQ looks good and oddly Giant-like.

What to do, what to do?

I think I might stable both the weekend dramas until Bridal Mask (and possibly AM1997) end in a few weeks - there is a good chance they might have barely just gotten out of kid portions then, and I always skim those anyway.

Dilemmas...

So, likely to keep, from most to least:

1. Bridal Mask
2. Faith
2. Arang and the Magistrate
4. Answer Me 1997
5. Five Fingers
6. May Queen.

Can't you delay watching Faith or Arang until Bridal Mask is over? It's only 4 weeks and you'll get to marathon 8 hours of the drama without having to wait one week for the next episode.

Or... Like you said, Five Fingers has a childhood portion. You can ditch that and pick up the drama when JJH takes over. That's what I plan to do. I'll keep myself informed through Soompi and such to know what's going on but I don't want to sit through hours of childhood stuff. It's rarely interesting.

I am too impatient.

Yeah, childhood skippage is the way to go. I am always bored by this. I think JJH is there in ep 4 latest.

I'm not going to make up my mind about the new dramas before I've seen at least a few episodes. If what happened with the last batch is anything to go by, quite a few of 'em will be left by the wayside.

I'm definitely keeping 'Answer Me 1997' though.

I've just checked out Faith and it's instant obsession. Ahhh, I need more time!

My advice is that for now you keep watching Gaksital and Answer Me... and once Gaksital ends you add everything else. But if, in the meantime, one of the dramas turns out to be CRAP then it's one less on your list.

Honestly, I'm not too sure "May Queen" will be any good. Even though I keep my fingers crossed, since I love the lead actor.

It's so frustrating to watch currently airing dramas! The long waaaaaaaaaaaaait!

This presupposes a degree of patience I do not possess, alas :)

It's longer to wait for them to finish :)

Re: MQ. I honestly have no idea what to expect.

You plan to shelve both Five Fingers and May Queen for a bit makes sense, but if you reluctant to do so, you could always just watch one episode of each a week until one of your other shows end and then marathon to catch up on both.

True that is a good idea!

just watched five fingers ep 1 today. and the child actors are soo good. i think you should watch from ep 1. there's alot of relevant things to know before the adult actors show up.
