Yay! Second half of ep 34 of Giant is subbed!

ETA: Loved Gangmo pwning Daddy Satan. Heh.

ETA: I know we are supposed to hate slimy slime Jeongshik but I can't - I find his Hitler hair and horrid outfits too amusing.

ETA: Poor Miju, all excited her Min Woo's Dad wants to meet her. If I were you, girl, I'd bring some Mace along.

ETA: Awww, Daddy Satan, you don't plan to have Miju killed after all. Just make her to abort her baby, whether she wants to or not. And you don't even plan to eat it! Careful, you are getting soft.

ETA: If Daddy Satan thinks his plan for having Seungmo take Miju to make her get an abortion is brilliant because Seungmo and Min Woo like each other and Min Woo listens to him, he is in a different universe from the rest of us. I mean, I can so see Min Woo going "Oh, you made the love of my life abort my baby? But hey, we grew up together, so it's cool, man!" Yeah. Right. Oh, Daddy Satan. Sometimes you are insane. I kinda like that even though Seungmo is very controlled, you see him think exactly the same thing.

OK, that was about as cheerful as eating a bag of nails. Preview promises more of the same. I think I am taking a little break before this drama makes me eat my own head. Btw, in case you haven't realized it, I've even stopped pretending I am invested in other storylines outside of MW/Miju. I mean, I like the other stuff, sure, but the reason I am obsessed is just my unfortunate doomed ship.

Ah well, I end on this note from ep in mid 20s (when she got her GED). Because clearly we won't be seeing this sort of thing again any time soon.

More caps of cuteness of bygone days behind cut. Back when they were going to get married and live happily ever after and she was going to go to college. )

According to ockoala, Cha Seung Won dropped out of Athena filming in Japan due to sepsis (yikes!) and now they are looking to drastically reduce his part and just DISASTER DISASTER DISASTER.

Athena was my most anticipated for 2010 and I am terrified this will fuck it up. On one hand, because I adore CSW and was looking forward to seeing him in the role of equal antagonist to Jung Woo Sung's proragonist, but also because last-minute rewrites, especially to such an integral part of the story, always always always spell doom.

Oh God, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Fix it, someone!

How does this drama get better and better? I don't know, but my level of obsession with it has reached the level of obsession Sun Joon has with Yoon Hee (seriously, do none of the other students notice/comment on his degree of fixation on his male roommate? I mean, I've seen drama heroes who knew the other party was a girl and were openly courting her, be less obsessed).

I was glad it wasn't In Soo and his flunkies who injured Sun Joon but Sorons who were pissed at him for his particular stands. It makes it more complicated and also didn't seem to fit In Soo's modus operandi - the guy is too arrogant and wants to beat SJ on his merits, not by crippling him out of archery competition.

Nice to see that even the nasty Minister of War has some warmth in him (towards his hilarious daughter). I continue to be really bored by Yong Ha (is that his name? Song Joong Ki's character), but I bet I am the only one - seriously, if he was written out, I wouldn't even notice.

I loved Yoon Hee standing up to Prof What's-his-Name and demanding her right to stay at Sungkyunhwan.

This was also the first ep I genuinely fell for Jae Shin. The scene near the end when he does the archery positions with Yoon Hee in the rain and grins - oh my heaven, I was this close to swooning.

But, as always, for me this was all about Yoon Hee and Sun Joon and their interactions and just...guuuuuuuh. That whole confrontation over the archery tournament (am I sick, I kinda love it when they fight?) and then his telling her he will get five arrows bullseye even though he can only use his left hand now due to his injury (btw, I did archery in college and these medieval bows look pretty damn scary - much harder than the modern ones), and if he does, she has to pick the bow up again and not remain terrified of it for the rest of her life. And this is so Sun Joon - this frightening, total, single-minded intensity, the utter inability to give up no matter what and no matter what it costs him. I love that he basically practices like a mad person, at night, in the rain, whatever. I can see why he really doesn't have friends or even companions outside of Yoon Hee. I love him to death but he must be an uncomfortable person to be around - so uncompromising and driven as he is. The final scene with them in the rain asjdofjfdghfjygftkgmfcdk. And of course, all the bystanders (and the viewers) believe that is was Yoon Hee who finally talked him into stopping practicing, when he finally does, but then he walks off and the camera pans to show he did get his 5 arrows.

Anyway, I adore this drama insanely. Possibly because Sun Joon reminds me a bit, character-wise, of a younger version of General Song Tae Ha from Chuno, a.k.a. my biggest drama crush ever.

This ep was even better!

I loved all the archery practice - mmmmm, so shippy. Also, seriously, Sun Joon, of course it's normal to let your purely platonic guy friend to fall asleep on your shoulder while you hold his hand and grin. Oh boy, you are so very far gone. Not to mention you grin at her all the time, when you are normally soooo serious. Oh, and I think YH is beginning to get jealous (when she saw him with Minister's daughter). Eeeee.

I loved how proud and excited Yoon hee was to hit bullseye and how Sun Joon was there to see her and tell her he was proud of her. They are just - they make each other better. She makes him more human and grounded (without her he'd have no friends at all) but he gives her trust and hope, something she's never had much of before.

I am totally curious as to how he will react when he finds out her gender. If it was e.g. jae Shin, I can't see him caring too much - he's a rebel by nature and inclination. But SJ is very proper and society-values-person. He told Minister of War's daughter women aren't allowed in Sungkyunkwan and meant it. How will he react in finding out that not only is there a woman in Sungkyunkwan but she is his best friend and a scholar there. *gasp*

I love love love Jae Shin and his Robin Hooding and his encouragement of YH and his hiccups and his showing up for the match despite his wounds (I was so scared he wouldn't). Actually, I sort of want an OT3. Come on, kids, you want to change the world? Change it through free love!
