Chun Jung Myung/Han Ji Hye sageuk about a son of an aristocrat and a son of a slave switched at birth, has released this teaser:

Obviously, this is from the early eps as they are still filming.

Hmmmmm. I loathe the bizarre, washed out, overlay on this - it makes me feel as if I am looking through a dirty soup strainer. It's like a 10-yr-old who got his hands on photoshop for the first time. One of the big selling points for any drama, but especially period drama, is the visuals - so why make it look so horrible in the teaser when I am sure it looks OK in reality.

Also, too much screaming. Just an awful teaser for what I am sure will be a decent drama. Compare that teaser to the one for the 2009 period drama The Kingdom of the Winds (I picked KOTW because it was also a period drama which was not prefilmed thus only first few eps were used for a teaser):

KOTW is how you do the teaser, people. That one would make me watch a drama of which I previously was unaware. The Duo's teaser would make me want to skip the drama except for the fact that I've been avidly expecting it and also know it's not as off-looking as the teaser makes it seem.

And speaking of period dramas, [livejournal.com profile] ockoala convinced me to try out Seo Dong Yo by promising me some epic period romance but I looked up the number of eps and it's 55. Fifty-five!. That's longer than Chuno and Return of Iljimae combined! *weeps* I am going to brave it anyway, so we'll see how it goes. Have a MV:

I sort of feel like a Tamra/Hong Gil Dong/ROI/KOTW/Chuno rewatch (not at the same time, obviously). I crave me some period goodness! Anyone watch Kim Suro and is it good? (Keeping in mind my adoration for period stuff and love of Ji Sung?)

Kim Soo Ro, I watched 20 some eps, which is longer than anyone else I know.

The drama is a mess, TBH. My love for Ji Sung and sageuks only took me so far.

The political plot is plodding and confusing, and the loveline had the EoE problem - there is first love and the girl he is supposed to end up with.

The first love got so much screen time and story, and by the time anything happened between the canon love story it was too late and rushed.

I like both actresses and both characters, but the weird fixation on the first love (the story even introduced a twin sister after they killed off the first love late in the game so the actress can stick around) made the story go nowhere for episodes on end.

Unlike EoE where they could write off LDH and have Dong Chul and Grace as canon, in KSR they couldn't do that because the historical King Kim Soo Roo married girl 2 who became his queen.

Anyways, if the plot were good I'd probably have watched it until the end. But everyone sorted acted and looked really listeless in this entire drama. Very blergh and a big waste of money and time.

Hmmm. That sounds disappointing.

I'll check it out anyway, for yummy yummy Ji Sung.

Kim So ro is good, there is a good chance you can like it. I stopped watching because of the subtitles debacle but will get back if they are out.

Sorry for editing, but even better (kim Soo Ro is not that exciting), try Yaksha, I have only watched 1 episode but my jaw literally dropped. It is like Chuno crossed with Gladiator. Be warned, though: it is an "experimental" kdrama, naked boobies in abundance.

I skimmed the first ep without subs (and saw the boobies :P) but it was not a drama I could watch without subs. I take it subs are out?

Its me again. Miss Anonymous that reads your blog, but is too lazy to comment every day. =)
BUt none the less, your asked about Kim suro.
Well, its only 30 episodes...."Hurray!"
NOw, the tough part, I loved the first half of it, um no almost 3/4th of it. The last few were just ok. I fell in love with the romance of the lead and the second female more than the king and queen them self. Its possibly because i felt a stronger chemistry b/w them , then the lead pair. =)
OVEr all, its good.
IF you are craving for some periodic drama's with hot guy... you can enjoy it.
DOnt be scared , Venture away! =)
